Chapter 94

Chapter 094 So Handsome!

The light drizzle finally stopped.

In the dark corner of the garden, Xia Xinyan and Ling Mo were observing the situation near the warehouse, and the atmosphere between them felt a bit strange.

Xia Xinyan’s mood was a bit complicated.

She had only realized something when she got up from Ling Mo; at that moment, it felt odd, but she couldn’t quite voice it.

After all, she was well aware that certain physiological reactions couldn’t be controlled by reason.

Still, it was strange.

Ling Mo wasn’t doing much better.

At heart, he was still a bit of a naive old virgin in this regard; although he had seen countless films, the reality… well, this was pretty much reality, but it still felt quite different. Besides, the person in front of him was someone he valued highly. Rather than calling it ambiguous, it felt more like awkwardness.

And a hint of worry.

Speaking of which, Xia Xinyan seemed completely unfazed earlier?

Could that mean she didn’t know much about this sort of thing?

At least not as much as he did…

Ahem, definitely, after all, Xinyan was a precious young lady, and her upbringing wouldn’t allow her to be exposed to that kind of stuff, right?

So she was actually… a very innocent girl?

Just like the shyness she had displayed earlier.

Thinking of this, Ling Mo felt a bit happier.

He was her first!

Xia Xinyan didn’t notice what Ling Mo was thinking; awkward as it was, they couldn’t just stand there dazed. After observing the area around the warehouse, she changed the topic: “There are quite a few guards at Warehouse No. 3, which might mean they have something useful inside.”

Right now, only the door of Warehouse No. 3 was open, while no one was guarding the other warehouses.

Ling Mo snapped back to reality and looked over: “Huh? Should we sneak in and take a look?”

Despite there being plenty of guards here, it was much safer than the streets filled with police. Moreover, those guards weren’t as heavily armed as the police, so they posed a smaller threat.

Ling Mo wasn’t too worried about the guards inside; he just feared they might call for backup, and that would be a huge problem.

So, he naturally thought of sneaking in.

He had played a lot of stealth games in the past; perfect sneaks were second nature—assuming it was a PC game. In this game, he wasn’t so sure.

Plus, failing in this game didn’t allow for reloading from a save point.

But just as he was pondering how to sneak in, Xia Xinyan suddenly spoke up: “You stay here. I can sneak in alone.”

Ling Mo was startled: “No way, that’s too dangerous.”

He agreed to let her go first while climbing the wall because he could provide backup at any time, but in such a large area, if something happened to Xia Xinyan, he wouldn’t be able to support her in time.

However, Xia Xinyan didn’t give him a chance to suggest anything. She reached out and pressed her finger against his lips: “Listen, stay here and wait for me. My abilities are meant for situations like this. Having you come with me would only be a burden.”

Ling Mo hesitated for a while, then reluctantly nodded.

Xia Xinyan then lowered her hand: “Good.”

After saying that, she suddenly crouched down and, like a cat, swiftly leaped into the darkness ahead, disappearing from Ling Mo’s view in an instant.

Her speed was shocking even to Ling Mo.

It made him swallow back the “be careful” that he almost said.

He felt that Xia Xinyan was just like a child being coaxed.

But despite feeling helpless, he also understood that his own strength really wasn’t suitable for sneaking.

If he got found out, he might not even have a chance to escape.

But…

He didn’t want to stay here as a bystander.

After a moment of silence, he lowered his body, and thin white lines began to emerge beneath him.

At that moment, another patrol squad entered the warehouse area, slowly walking to the edge of the building, leaving the searchlight’s beam.

The next moment, a shadow suddenly dashed out from the side, taking down all of them before they could react, then vanishing back into the darkness silently, with no one aware of it.

Except for Ling Mo.

And after that, Xia Xinyan began a hunt.

It was as if this place had become her domain, allowing her to seize the perfect opportunities to launch attacks from the shadows, taking down guard after guard that wandered into the dark, only to disappear into the shadows again.

Even though Ling Mo kept his eyes on her, it was easy to lose track of her—not just because of her speed, but also her concealment abilities. She could stand right under his nose and, unless he looked closely, he would hardly notice her presence, blending seamlessly with the surroundings, leaving Ling Mo somewhat dazed.

Xinyan’s ability was practically made for assassination… and with such strong concealment, it could also be incredibly effective for escaping.

Compared to that, his abilities felt utterly useless.

It made him start to doubt if Xia Xinyan chose him because of his abilities at all.

Moments later, seeing that the number of allies around was dwindling, the remaining fewer than ten guards finally reacted, all gathering at the entrance of Warehouse No. 3 with their guns raised, cautiously observing their surroundings.

Then, someone yelled: “What’s that?!”

The others instinctively followed the direction of the person’s finger, only to see a pink hoodie suddenly flutter down from the roof of the warehouse. This unexpected scene caused everyone to react, lifting their guns to aim at the only moving object. The next moment, a shadow rushed into the unprepared crowd from behind, instantly taking down half of them.

The remaining guards quickly realized what was happening and hastily turned their guns to shoot, but just then, one of their own suddenly turned aggressive, delivering a kick to the guard beside him, then turned to grapple another guard in a flurry of punches.

Thanks to this sudden distraction, the other guards were momentarily distracted and were quickly sent to dreamland by the approaching Xia Xinyan.

After taking care of all the guards here, Xia Xinyan paused, dusting off her hands, and curiously watched Ling Mo, who was currently grappling with the remaining guard.

She had noticed Ling Mo, dressed in a guard uniform, mixed in with the crowd during her earlier hunting. She didn’t really mind as long as he didn’t drag her down.

But… she didn’t expect Ling Mo to do something like this.

Though probably to help… but this flurry of punches was really… making her want to laugh.

Ling Mo, despite always working out, hadn’t really fought much. The last time he fought was back in high school when he got into a brawl with some punks. What happened then? That’s a story for another time, but that incident definitely made him determined to work out—he figured that even the most flashy martial artists wouldn’t fare well against a gym-buffed guy if their physical fitness didn’t measure up.

And in reality, he was right about that.

The guards here actually had some skills, but Ling Mo’s physical abilities were decent. After a few upgrades, he had improved significantly, and now he was just pinning the guard down with sheer punching power—not even allowing them a chance to counter.

Aside from looking ungraceful, it was going quite well.

After the thirtieth hit, the poor guard Ling Mo had pinned down finally fainted, providing him some relief.

Ling Mo let out a long breath, rising from the ground, and looking at Xia Xinyan, his expression a bit awkward: “I was trying to help…”

Xia Xinyan nodded and smiled slightly: “So handsome!”

“Really…” Ling Mo felt a bit embarrassed.

He thought he should have looked cooler if he had used a brick… at least it would have been more straightforward and efficient, no need to keep hammering with these punches.

He had been too excited at that moment and forgot all about that.
