Chapter 58
Chapter 058 Is This Considered a Two-Person World?
Xia Xinyan didn’t join the club just to relive old friendships; there was a more important purpose.
In her past life, she ended up alone, even dying like a tragic hero.
Just like those jumbled philosophical questions that Ling Mo had once considered, facing such circumstances was truly painful.
So now, starting over, Xia Xinyan wouldn’t choose the same path as in her previous life.
She wanted to establish her own circle—beginning with this club.
After the Cataclysm began, it became vital to have a group of friends she could trust, even if their strength didn’t match her own; having company was certainly better than being all alone.
However, her goal wasn’t to be the leader of this circle but to have Ling Mo take that position.
Ling Mo was the person she trusted most and the only one she was certain wouldn’t betray her. Additionally, as the executor of system tasks, she would eventually have to step aside for him. So, why not decide from the start to let him take the lead?
And now, her actions had begun.
The process to enter the game wasn’t difficult; it was basically foolproof. But for a group of newcomers, it was a wonderfully novel experience. Ling Mo had certainly gathered a lot of goodwill with this.
Initially, the club mostly comprised seasoned gamers, their interest in “Realm of Divine Presence” far surpassing that of ordinary folks. They were thrilled to experience the game pod, something they thought they would never touch, all thanks to Ling Mo; only true gamers could understand that gratitude.
Although it seemed exaggerated, they were simply expressing their feelings through this small matter.
Yes… while it was Xia Xinyan who secured the game pods, people naturally felt more favorable towards those they were closer to. To them, it was because Ling Mo got close to Xia Xinyan, which led her to help them get so many game pods. So, it made sense that Ling Mo earned a lot of goodwill.
If Xia Xinyan had done this on her own, the results might have been far worse.
—This was one of the reasons she wanted Ling Mo to step up.
However, Ling Mo clearly didn’t think that much; he was already grinning ear to ear from the compliments and gratitude from his clubmates.
His vanity had been immensely satisfied.
Thirteen game pods were quickly filled, but there were still many members who couldn’t grab a spot, left enviously watching those inside.
As the club president, Zhang Nan naturally had to give the opportunity to others. He observed the scene and, seeing everyone settled in, couldn’t help but ask, “Can we outside people communicate with them?”
“Of course,” Xia Xinyan nodded, opened the computer Ling Mo brought, connected to the local network, and explained, “The game has now gone live on the official platform; using the official platform, we can contact players in the game. These game pods and the activity room are networked, and once online, you can directly check everyone’s ID.”
After a brief pause, she continued, “However, you can’t talk to players currently in dungeons. The time in dungeons doesn’t match up with reality; once you enter a dungeon, it’s a completely sealed environment.”
“Oh… I see,” Brother Haonan rubbed his chin and asked, “Didn’t they say this game has several modes? What mode should we start with?”
Upon hearing this, Xia Xinyan paused and looked at Ling Mo.
Noticing her gaze, Ling Mo took a few seconds to respond, smiling earnestly: “I recommend the Battle Zone. The experience in the Battle Zone dungeons is incredibly exhilarating, and the rewards are high. You can earn several thousand game points per run, which equates to hundreds in cash—earning over ten thousand a month is no problem.”
While he had no idea what Xia Xinyan meant, he thought his suggestion should be fine.
Besides, Xia Xinyan had previously said it was best to play the Battle Zone.
To take a step back, the pain he had previously experienced in the Battle Zone should definitely be something this bunch tried out too, right?
He couldn’t be the only one getting beaten up.
And so they played until evening.
The first group of testers only crawled out three hours later, their expressions not looking too great. They reported experiencing their first dungeon wipe, and it was a total mess—naturally, they had felt that 70% pain sensation.
They almost died on the spot.
However, aside from that, nearly everyone shared a positive opinion about the game and, driven by similar malicious thoughts as Ling Mo, began to coax others into trying the Battle Zone experience.
Ling Mo suggested they ramp up their efforts.
Unfortunately, he wouldn’t see the aftermath of the excitement, as it was time for him to go home for dinner.
Xia Xinyan had actually been having quite a lot of fun that afternoon… although it seemed she hadn’t done much, which was a good thing. He was just worried she wouldn’t adapt to the club’s atmosphere—after all, those guys didn’t know how to tone it down at all.
It’s worth mentioning that before leaving the activity room, they both left their IDs, so even though they couldn’t watch the live-action, they could at least catch the lively scenes in the game.
After dinner, the two entered the game, where Zhang Nan and the others were still waiting in the Hall, planning to team up for a dungeon run, letting Ling Mo and Xia Xinyan lead the way.
However, after forming the team, Ling Mo discovered they couldn’t match up for the Battle Zone dungeon. The system prompted, [Strength Mismatch].
“It’s probably because we’ve cleared two dungeons,” Xia Xinyan speculated. “Dungeons usually match players of equivalent strength; this is to set the difficulty properly. Since we’ve cleared two dungeons, our strength is higher than theirs, so we can’t team up together.”
“There’s such a setting?” Brother Haonan in the team mused but didn’t think much of it, “Alright then, let’s give it a try ourselves. You two can play a round separately. Perfect, we won’t disturb you.”
And just like that, they swiftly exited the team.
Ling Mo: “…”
“Want to do a dungeon?” Xia Xinyan walked up beside him and softly asked.
Ling Mo paused, shook his head: “Forget it; since we can’t match up, let’s just play around—does this game have other gameplay besides dungeons?”
He initially wanted to showcase his newly trained skills and abilities in front of his friends, but now that dream had been dashed, and he had lost interest in running a dungeon.
It’s much more lively to play with a group, so he’d rather wait until they caught up before proceeding; otherwise, if he and Xia Xinyan cleared another dungeon, the gap would only widen.
“There is!” Seeing he wasn’t interested in dungeoning, Xia Xinyan didn’t push, “This game also has player communities, which serve as zones for socializing and relaxing. Anywhere you want to go, you can find it in the game.”
Pausing for a second, she suddenly took Ling Mo’s hand: “How about we go for a walk?”
As she spoke, she selected a player community to enter, and before Ling Mo even realized it, their surroundings underwent a drastic transformation.
From their Private Space, they suddenly arrived at a sunny mountain peak.
As he surveyed the surrounding mountains, lush and emerald green, the breathtaking scenery was even a rare sight in reality.
Ling Mo was momentarily dumbfounded.
Until Xia Xinyan’s voice pulled him back to reality: “Now that we’re in this community, it’s just the two of us—does this count as a true two-person world?”
