Chapter 57

Chapter 057 Money Really Does Allow You to Do As You Please

Zhang Nan’s statement earlier sounded a bit strange at first, but Xia Xinyan understood him well enough not to dwell on it.

Most of the people in this club were a bunch of guys who had hardly ever interacted with girls. One brother who left a deep impression on her was the one who had been chasing a girl for over half a year, saving every penny just to spend one wild week each month with her—she handled the shopping while he paid the bills.

In the end, he didn’t even manage to win her over, with their most intimate moment being a simple hand-holding.

Not to say this guy was pitiful, but at the very least, he was probably one of the members who had the most dealings with girls in the club.

She brought this up not to point out any particular flaw, but to express… that these guys were just like that—simple-minded, outspoken, saying whatever came to their minds without any pretense, and had no idea how to pander to girls. This might make it hard for them to gain the favor of passersby, but it was genuinely comfortable to be around them.

Xia Xinyan used to enjoy this kind of atmosphere.

Her earlier silence was merely nostalgic.

“There’s no need to call me ‘young lady,’ just call me Xia Xinyan,” she said with a light smile after coming back to her senses. “I’d heard about this club a long time ago and considered joining, but I was too busy back then… conveniently, now that Mo Mo is here, I decided to come take a look.”

“Well, that’s great,” Zhang Nan instantly grinned, “It’s our honor, right? Come on, let’s welcome her!”

Saying this, he began clapping his hands to himself: “Welcome, welcome, warmly…”

“Wait, wait, wait,” Ling Mo couldn’t take it anymore, “Do you have to be awkward at the door of the building? Isn’t that embarrassing?”

“Then should we go to the Activity Room?”

“…”

Xia Xinyan habitually ignored their sporadic antics and directly changed the subject: “Mo Mo must have mentioned the Game Pod to you guys, right? I managed to get thirteen Game Pods through connections, and they’ve already arrived. Is it convenient to install them now?”

“Of course it’s convenient,” Zhang Nan perked up at the mention of the big news that had lit up their group chat. “But I heard the Game Pods are pretty big? Our club Activity Room isn’t that spacious, and we might not be able to fit all thirteen. If not, we can just set up two or three, we’d be grateful for however many we get.”

“Uh-huh, I’ve heard of that issue.” Xia Xinyan nodded and continued, “So why not just change to a bigger Activity Room?”

Upon hearing this, Zhang Nan couldn’t help but chuckle wryly: “We’d like to switch, but the conditions don’t allow it, and the approval process for Activity Rooms has passed this semester…”

“President Xia!” A sudden voice from afar interrupted him. Turning around, a male student from the student council rushed over, panting as he handed a set of keys to Xia Xinyan. “Here are the keys to the Activity Room you requested, President Xia… Sorry for the delay in the approval process, but this new Activity Room is the largest grade, Room 213. Do you want to check it out now?”

Zhang Nan: “…”

Xia Xinyan took the keys and glanced at her phone: “Hmm, it’s about time.”

No sooner had she finished speaking than several logistics delivery vans suddenly appeared around the corner, led by a luxury sports car, slowly stopping at the entrance of the Activity Building. The car door opened to reveal the butler she had previously met with Ling Mo: “Miss, the items have arrived. Do you want to install them now?”

Xia Xinyan nodded, keys in hand, heading towards the Activity Building: “Let’s go check out the new Activity Room.”

Zhang Nan was left dumbfounded.

It was only when the crowd he had brought along stormed into the Activity Building and the workers began unloading the Game Pods from the delivery van that he gradually came to his senses: “Wow, money really does allow you to do as you please.”

…Wait, not only does Xia Xinyan have money, but she also has power.

He nearly forgot she was also the honorary president of the student council.

Beside him, the guy Haonan, who hadn’t followed them inside, remarked: “Old Ling really is lucky as hell, damn it.”

“Hey, what can you do? Maybe he saved the planet in his past life,” Zhang Nan shook his head, just as he was about to enter, when Ling Mo appeared from inside.

“Why are you still not going in?”

Hearing this, Zhang Nan chuckled: “I’ll go in later… By the way, you really pulled off quite the feat, quietly raking in the big bucks. You can casually make headlines now, first with the Game Pods and then with the Activity Room.”

“What does it have to do with me?” Ling Mo shrugged, “This was all Xinyan’s doing; even I didn’t know she got a new Activity Room.”

Though he wasn’t the president, he was on good terms with her, so he understood how difficult it was to approve an Activity Room—first, the number of applicants submitting paper applications had to exceed a hundred, and secondly, there were activity level requirements. Only when everything met the criteria could they get approval for an Activity Room.

And that was just the qualification; whether they could get it approved was another matter. He had heard that Zhang Nan had been rejected twice when he applied for an Activity Room, eventually only managing to secure the smallest one. The difficulties were clear—the student council believed the club had no need for offline activities and that an Activity Room would be a waste of resources.

Yet now, Xia Xinyan casually mentioned a few words and managed to get them a large Activity Room.

Tsk, the more time he spent with her, the more he felt the gap between them was enormous.

Even though only three days had passed.

“That’s enough,” Zhang Nan clapped his shoulder, smiling, “As long as you can keep chatting with her, it all amounts to the same. Honestly, I was thinking of preparing a membership application for Xia Xinyan earlier, but now it seems it’s probably unnecessary.”

“…You should still prepare one; at least it’s a formality.” Ling Mo patted their shoulders, “Come on, let’s go see the Activity Room.”

“Let’s go, let’s go check it out.” Haonan was the first to head toward the building, with Zhang Nan following closely. But after taking a few steps, he suddenly seemed to remember something, turning back to Ling Mo: “By the way, how about I make you an honorary president too? That way, you’d match up with Xia Xinyan a bit, right?”

Ling Mo couldn’t be bothered to respond: “Save it.”

The new club Activity Room was much bigger than they had imagined, likely around the size of a standard classroom, more than enough to fit thirteen Game Pods.

It looked quite ridiculous all set up—this could be mistaken for a funeral in a sacred chapel—if only a priest would come over and recite a eulogy.

However, once the Game Pods were installed, the layout and various holographic information displays pushed aside some of the initial imagery—transforming it from a funeral scene into a high-tech funeral scene.

Clearly, none of the guys who were already captivated by the equipment were paying attention to that detail; almost as soon as the installation crew left, eager individuals started figuring out how to use the Game Pods, and there were even many students gathering outside to join the excitement, instantly making the whole Activity Room lively.

Xia Xinyan observed for a while, then casually poked Ling Mo’s arm: “Hmm, not going to teach them how to get into the game?”

“Me, teach?” Ling Mo paused.

Xia Xinyan smiled slightly: “You know them better than I do, right?”

Ling Mo hesitated for a few seconds, then nodded: “Okay.”
