Chapter 447
Chapter 447 Now, You Are a Captive
Of course, Chu Nan and Xiao Han both understood that there was basically no possibility of that happening.
If they could really wipe out the demon race, by that time, there would hardly be any humans left either.
Not to mention, what about canned meat, Little White, and foxes… or even demons that might be recruited later? Should they be eradicated too?
If they had to wipe out everything, how would they be any different from those bloodthirsty demons?
Some things, once taken to the extreme, change their nature.
And humans can’t go to extremes either.
So what Monica mentioned didn’t actually impact them much; it merely made them realize that there was no need to futilely destroy those potential Demon Strongholds.
Or rather… there was no need for a futile expedition.
Xia Xinyan was feeling quite complex at the moment.
But complexity aside, there was still a more important task at hand—if they didn’t act soon, that woman was going to be killed.
“If we take it away, will the entanglement point go along with it?” Ling Mo asked again.
“As long as it’s not dead, it can still be treated as the entanglement point itself, so what do you think?” Monica shot him a sideways glance.
“Got it,” Ling Mo materialized his Battle Armor for himself and Xia Xinyan, then walked over to her, instinctively wrapping his arms around her, and then continued, “By the way, they’re all red-eyed right now; if we go up, will they just smash us in the face?”
Xia Xinyan tilted her head to look at him and smiled, “Then it’s up to you.”
At least when they were in the sky, she was completely just a decoration; unless she was put down, she could barely fight those demons.
But she also had basically guessed Ling Mo’s thoughts by now; the guy probably just wanted to hug her when he carried her off.
Even though many times she didn’t actually need to show up, and she might end up being a burden to Ling Mo, since he liked it, she didn’t really mind. Besides, every action came with danger; like Ling Mo said, he would always be with her, so she should always be with him. If there was danger, they should face it together.
Ling Mo paused for a moment, then nodded, “Don’t worry, I definitely won’t let you get into trouble.”
After saying that, he directly hugged Xia Xinyan and flew over in that direction.
Fortunately, not many demons could fly, and that woman couldn’t grow her flesh arms in mid-air, so the battlefield above was relatively safe. After Ling Mo flew over, he materialized a large horn similar to the one he gave the woman and shouted, “Boss! Need any help?!”
The woman had noticed their presence long before they arrived. Initially thinking they had defected, her sullen expression changed slightly upon hearing Ling Mo, pausing for a moment. She didn’t know where she got her own horn, then imitated Ling Mo’s gesture, putting it to her mouth—
“Collect! Hair! Long hair! Exchange long hair for kitchen knives! Exchange for scissors! Exchange for bowls!”
The woman: “…”
“Press the red button in the middle!” Ling Mo shouted again.
The woman, somewhat skeptical, pressed it: “Hello? Can you hear me?”
Then, realizing her voice was amplified several times, she showed a moment of surprise, but quickly reacted, shouting loudly, “Help me suppress the rebellion! Kill all these idiots! There’ll be heavy rewards afterwards!”
The visible swarm of demons became even crazier in their attack.
Ling Mo paused, then flew over to the woman’s side with Xia Xinyan—at least, the only danger in that area was still her.
“We can’t finish off all these traitors,” Ling Mo’s first words after landing were this, “Let’s escape; as long as you still have the green mountains, you won’t worry about firewood.”
“What do you mean?” the woman paused.
Ling Mo: “…”
Forgot her education level.
“We three can’t possibly kill all the demons here,” Xia Xinyan was more direct, “Your subordinates have all betrayed you except for us, meaning your city-state has been conquered.”
The woman fell silent for two seconds, her expression darkened suddenly, “Are you telling me to give up my city-state?”
“Not giving up means death; you can choose for yourself,” Xia Xinyan was too lazy to keep pretending with her, “As long as you’re alive, there’s still a chance to rise again, but if you die, that’s it.”
Hearing this, the woman fell silent again.
Meanwhile, the demons outside were about to break into the innermost area; the remaining arms could no longer withstand the frenzied attacks, and soon, the woman’s true form would be exposed to the demons’ iron fists.
At that moment, the woman finally made a choice: “I’m leaving.”
She didn’t want to die.
She wanted to restore her city-state.
And those idiots, without her leadership, were bound to face a dreadful fate.
“Wise choice,” Ling Mo nodded, summoning a flying backpack for the woman, albeit one that he controlled, “We’ll take you away from here; get ready.”
After saying that, he hugged Xia Xinyan and took off with the woman, leaping over all the demons and flying far away. Monica had already left with the canned meat, so now, this expedition in Shen City had officially come to an end—leaving behind a chaotic Shen City submerged in a frenzy of demons.
Ling Mo didn’t intend to leave behind a nuclear bomb or anything; he was mainly worried about alarming the snakes. Since these demons had already evolved to a level of intelligence comparable to humans, the only thing lacking was understanding. No one could guarantee that there weren’t demons capable of communicating between Demon Strongholds. After having blown up a city last time, blowing up another could make those demons wary and attract a lot of hatred.
The most important goal now wasn’t the extermination of demons but how to find a balance between demons and humans. The expedition did need preparation, but if it wasn’t for a total extermination, the workload could be significantly reduced.
Of course, the primary matter at hand was still this woman.
Ling Mo flew out of the city for several dozen kilometers before stopping, ensuring those demons wouldn’t chase after them, then he set the woman and Xia Xinyan down.
The woman had been quite curious about the flying backpack on her back all the way: “This thing is amazing; how did you make it?”
“There are even more amazing things,” Ling Mo said, directly materializing a collar akin to the canned meat one, “This can be worn around your neck.”
The canned meat, just accompanying Monica, saw this and immediately looked down muttering, “Merciful Lord… please save this child who is about to fall into darkness…”
Unfortunately, the Lord didn’t respond, and the woman didn’t hear its mumblings, but she curiously took the collar from Ling Mo and tried to put it around her neck. The collar then automatically locked, and when the woman tried to take it off, it wouldn’t budge: “What is this?”
“A bomb collar; I can make you die anytime I want,” Ling Mo smiled, “Now, you are our captive, Boss.”
