“That was quick.”

“I rushed over!”

Etoile said with a cheerful laugh, flapping the little wings on her back as she flew around me.

“Ha ha. You come flying as soon as you sense my magic. It’s almost like you’re a dog.”

“A dog? Should I bark then? Woof, woof!”

“I was just joking, so don’t take it seriously. By the way, your way of speaking has gotten a lot better since we last met.”

“That’s true! I’ve finally decided on my character, so my way of speaking has become more proper! This time, I’m trying to sound a bit more refined and ladylike!”

Etoile’s way of speaking was no longer the strange mix of different sentence endings like last time, but had become unified into a single ending.

Well, I still don’t quite get the theme of being a refined lady.

I was doubtful if she really got it, but since I wasn’t here to babysit her, I decided not to press the matter further.

“So? What should I do from here? Can I go home now?”

“That would be too lonely! Since you’ve come all this way, you should come to my house!”

I didn’t mind going to Etoile’s house, but I really hesitated to walk through that kind of atmosphere in the town.

There’s no way I could say it’s because I don’t like your town. So, I stammered a bit, and she nodded vigorously as if she understood something.

“I get it! Luis is shy! Then just fly above and you won’t stand out!”

I felt like she misunderstood me in a way that could affect my reputation, but if I could get to her house without going through town, then whatever she just said would be forgotten.

“Then let’s go!”

Saying that, Etoile took my hand and, just like when we arrived, she pulled my hand hard to take off. I matched her energy and used flight magic.

“We’ve arrived!”

I sighed as Etoile forcibly pulled my arm while trying to usher me inside, thinking back to how we got here.

That was just a few minutes ago.

I had thought, following Etoile’s lead, that we would fly straight to her house.

But unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.

For some reason, Etoile suddenly said, “Let’s take a night walk!” and started sightseeing from above, proudly telling me about the town—the food over there is delicious, and that child walking there is a friend of hers, and so on, happily explaining everything.

And now, we finally reach our destination after several minutes of her showing off.

“Are you tired, Luis? Then you should rest in my room!”

“Yeah, whose fault do you think that is…”

“Etoile-sama, welcome back. You’ve been out… where… to…”

Feeling unnecessarily exhausted, I thought about complaining, but at that moment, someone interrupted my words.

I turned to face the voice, and there stood a frozen woman with a smile, as if time had stopped just around her.

“…”

“Wonder? What’s wrong?”

“A man… Etoile-sama brought a man home!!!”

“Shut up!”

The woman called Wonder ignored Etoile and stood there for a moment dumbfounded, before suddenly looking at me and shouting loudly.

“What?!”

“Etoile-sama brought a man?!”

“Man—cut him down on the spot!”

With those words, a group of women appeared, all of whom looked just as shocked and were holding brooms, a huge nail, and two kitchen knives.

“Everyone! I’m back!”

“Etoile-sama! Welcome back!”

Etoile, seemingly unaware of what the women were holding, greeted them with a radiant smile, and the previously furious expressions of the women vanished as they looked only at Etoile now with smiles.

“What is this…”

“Luis, let me introduce you! My friends are Wonder, Dreamer, Tulam, and Levi!”

“Ah! Etoile-sama called my name!”

“Etoile-sama! You look cute today too!”

“Etoile-sama! Please wave your hand over here!”

“Etoile-sama! I love you today too…”

While Etoile introduced her friends, I honestly couldn’t care less.

What I wanted was for someone to fix the unprecedented chaos currently unfolding.

“And this guy next to me is Luis. He’s my new friend!”

“A man, Etoile-sama has a man…”

The four of them, now glaring at me like they just found their parents’ killer, suddenly turned serious.

“Etoile-sama will get dirty because of you.”

“Touching Etoile-sama is unforgivable.”

“Hey, Etoile. Who are these people?”

“They’re all friends! Luis will surely get along with them!”

Etoile must not see how they’re about to kill me with their glares, or they’re just pretending to act for the kill…

It seems that Wonder is the leader of this group, as her statement calmed the previously chaotic scene.

“Anyway, let’s discuss the details later—mainly about you and Etoile-sama. For now, let’s move to a different location. We can’t keep Etoile-sama standing here forever.”

“Let’s move!”

“Tch.”

Wonder proposed to change locations, but Etoile not only didn’t let go of my hand but pulled me closer as she intertwined arms with me, making the previously calmed four glare at me once more. This time their glances were filled with clear intent to kill.

“Am I going to make it back alive?”

Amid all this, for the first time since I got here, I really felt the threat to my life.
