Chapter 328

The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide

Chapter 312: Yummy Yummy

“Lord Lewis. Please wake up.”

“Unnngh…”

The next day.

I was sleeping soundly when I felt someone shaking my shoulder. Opening my eyes, I met the gaze of Rei, who had come to wake me.

“Yawn. What’s up?”

“Everyone is gathered.”

“Everyone?”

“The leaders from this district.”

“……Ah, right. I remember now. Got it.”

It seemed I had been more exhausted than I realized yesterday, as I couldn’t immediately comprehend who Rei meant by “everyone,” but upon hearing “leaders,” I finally recalled my conversation with Wilhelm from yesterday.

After taking my time getting ready and finishing a proper meal, I walked into the room where the village leaders were waiting.

“I see.”

As soon as I entered the room, three gazes locked onto me.

The first seemed to express anger, maybe because they had waited too long or because they looked down on me for being human—or perhaps it was a mix of both. Either way, there was clear anger and hostility in their eyes.

The second gaze was probing, as if they were trying to figure out why they had been gathered and who this representative of the district was.

Finally, the third gaze was disinterested, as if they were simply observing someone who entered the room, lacking any real interest—just here because they were called.

“It seems one is missing, doesn’t it?”

“The leader of the Bullhead Tribe and their representative aren’t attending.”

“I see. Then let’s get started.”

I replied to Wilhelm’s words and took a seat at the front.

“Hey, what do you think you’re doing, starting without an apology for being late?!”

However, as soon as I sat down, a man who had been glaring at me since I entered the room slammed the table.

“Wilhelm. Who’s that guy?”

“That would be Lord Raven from the Birdman Tribe, here as a delegate for their leader.”

“Hmm. A delegate, huh.”

“Hey! Stop whispering!”

The man Wilhelm referred to as Raven had black wings on his back and sharp claws in his hands, with feathers the same color as his wings adorning his arms and shoulders.

“I apologize for being late. But it would be wise to mind your words, you know?”

“Huh? What did you say?”

“You came here as a delegate for your leader, didn’t you? So, you need to behave accordingly. Every word and action of yours reflects on your leader. In other words, if you act hostile toward me here, I’ll have to deal with the troublesome task of annihilating your entire race. Got it?”

As I said this, I released a little of my magical powers, which made Raven stammer and break out in a cold sweat.

“Alright. Now it’s quiet. Let’s dive right in.”

With Raven quieted down, I thought we could finally get to today’s main topic. Not wanting to waste time, I decided to seize the moment when everyone was watching and quickly started to speak.

“First off, I guess I should introduce myself. As I believe Wilhelm has informed you, I’m Lewis, your new representative from today. Also, as I mentioned earlier, I possess the power of Gluttony, so there shouldn’t be any issues regarding qualifications. Nice to meet you.”

“Tch. If that’s the case, then I should go next. I’m Raven of the Birdman Tribe, here as a delegate for our leader, Igull. Let me make this clear: we, the Birdman Tribe, have no intention of bowing beneath a human. That’s what I came here to say.”

Raven glared at me momentarily, but when our eyes met, he flinched and looked away, resting his chin on his hand and going silent.

“Next, I suppose it’s my turn. I am Rululu, the leader of the Three-Eye Tribe. We hope to determine our next course of action based on today’s discussion. Nice to meet you.”

Next to introduce himself was Rululu from the Three-Eye Tribe, who had three eyes on his forehead, befitting his tribe’s name.

“The Three-Eye Tribe, huh? What a rare tribe. And despite having a deep grudge against humans, you’ve chosen to participate?”

“Yes. Indeed, the Three-Eye Tribe bears deep resentment toward your kind, but defying you here would not be wise. That conviction was only solidified after witnessing your powers earlier.”

“I see.”

The Three-Eye Tribe is rumored to possess unique abilities, capable of seeing into the past, future, and even other dimensions.

Whether that’s true or not, humans who believed the rumor in the past sought after their powers, resulting in hunts against the Three-Eye Tribe.

However, even after acquiring an eye from them, humans could never seem to gain the abilities they were rumored to possess, and eventually, those eyes simply became collector’s items for the eccentric.

Given that history, it was said that the Three-Eye Tribe harbored significant enmity toward humans, yet it seemed that this time, their leader had responded to my summons.

“Fuwawa… is last, huh? Fuwawa… is the leader of the Ghost Tribe. Nice to… meet you…”

“The Ghost Tribe, huh? This district has gathered quite an array of rare tribes, hasn’t it?”

I only knew about the Ghost Tribe from what I read in books, but it’s said they can use spirit magic to directly interact with souls, allowing them to transfer someone’s soul to another body or resurrect the deceased.

However, they seem to be quite an exclusive tribe, rarely performing resurrection even at the request of other demon races.

As the leader of such a rare tribe, Fuwawa was inexplicably staring at me.

“Why are you staring at me so intently? Is something wrong?”

“Representative… soul… warped…”

“So, you’re talking about me? My soul is warped?”

“U-uhm…”

“How is it warped?”

“Missing… something…”

“Missing? What’s missing?”

“Umm…?”

It was a rather vague conversation, but it seemed that Fuwawa viewed my soul as somehow warped, and the reason was that something was lacking.

Perhaps it was as Bagira said, that powers are engraved in the soul, which meant my Gluttony power might be affecting my soul in some way.

“Well, whatever. For now, we’ve finished everyone’s introductions. Now, let’s get to the main topic. The reason I gathered everyone now is to let you know I’ve become the representative of this district. Since that was covered in the previous introductions, we can move on to discuss future matters.”

“Hey, human. Like I said earlier, we Birdman Tribe have no intention of bowing to you. Just because you claim to be the representative doesn’t mean we’ll obey. This district has its own established rules already. We don’t need someone like you.”

“Ah, I don’t mind that at all.”

“Huh?”

Raven seemed taken aback that his words were acknowledged, and his previously intimidating demeanor turned confused, while the other two awaited my next words.

“Basically, I don’t intend to change any rules that currently exist in this district. If there are villages you’ve built and rules you’ve adhered to, then just continue to act according to them moving forward. That’s what I gathered you all for.”

“So, you’re saying you won’t impose anything on us?”

“Essentially, yes. However, this will pertain to future discussions, but I plan to collaborate with Soware from District 2 to start a business using materials and items we acquire from the demon race’s country. So, I have a proposal: how about we trade with each other?”

“Trade, you say?”

“To put it simply, a trade of goods? I’m suggesting we exchange rare ores, monster materials, and medicinal herbs for food from our nation.”

“Hah. We have no interest in human goods.”

“Oh, really? Then feel free to decline, but don’t you think you should judge after you see the actual items?”

As I spoke, I laid out food, desserts, clothing, processed gemstones, and a few simple board games on the table.

“What is this…?”

“So… amazing… looks delicious…”

“Gemstones…? And they’re quite shiny.”

“I don’t mean to say this, but your nation lacks both a commitment to cuisine and the skills to process gemstones, not to mention enthusiasm for leisure. Sure, what you have may be edible, but the seasoning is rough and lacks the sweets found in desserts, right? However, we humans never compromise when it comes to food and continuously seek culinary perfection.”

“Can we… eat this…?”

“Yeah, go ahead.”

Once granted permission, Fuwawa was the first to reach for the strawberry parfait, scooping it with a nearby spoon and bringing it to her tiny mouth.

“Uhh, yummmm…”

“This clothing feels fantastic. It’d make a nice gift for my wife and daughter.”

Fuwawa seemed to love the desserts, reaching for cakes and cookies as well, while Rululu appeared to be seriously considering gifts for his family, inspecting the requests and decorative items.

And then there was Raven…

“Shiny… gemstones… shiny…”

No surprise there; I assumed he’d be interested in shiny objects since he was a raven, and as expected, his eyes were glued to the gemstones.

“What do you think? Agreeing to trade with me means you’ll be able to obtain these items in your village. In exchange, you just need to share the magic stones and materials that you acquire from hunting monsters with us.”

“Only… that much… is fine…?”

“Yeah. What we’re after are magic stones, herbs, and monster materials obtainable in this country. For you, they probably won’t be particularly necessary, so it’s not a bad deal, right?”

“W-we understand. Fuwawa and the others… will trade… plenty to eat… yum yum…”

“We’ll accept the trade as well. However, we have one condition. We would prefer if a large number of humans wouldn’t accompany you during trades. While I personally don’t mind too much, the older generation still harbors strong resentments toward humans. We’d like to avoid causing any unnecessary friction.”

“Of course. I was planning for only a limited number of humans to come here anyway, so you needn’t worry about that.”

“Thank you.”

As Rululu mentioned, there are still those among humans who try to collect Three-Eye Tribe eyes, so I had already intended to send only trusted individuals whom I discussed this with my father beforehand.

Moreover, even if the numbers are few, I could create a magic bag with storage magic, allowing one person to transport a large amount of supplies, so the number of people involved won’t matter much anyway.

“So, what will you do?”

“…Huh?! N-no! I’m not gonna be deceived by this! Trading with humans?!”

Raven said that, trying to maintain a tough attitude, but his gaze remained fixated on the gemstones, clearly unable to resist their allure.

Seeing his reaction, I figured it was time for one final push and smirked as I played my cards once more.

“I understand how you feel. But remember, you’re just a delegate, right? You should leave the final decision to your leader. Oh, and feel free to take some of the food here as a gift. If you need more, I have plenty of other offerings as well.”

As I said this, I lined up even more meat dishes on the table, and Raven wiped the drool from his mouth and crossed his arms.

“Y-yeah. I was only told to listen to what you have to say; I wasn’t made to do anything. I’ll convey your proposal to my leader. Speaking of which, this…”

“Yeah. Take as much as you like.”

“Alright!”

What a pushover.

I figured Birdmen like meat, so I made sure to add more meat dishes to the table, and their reaction was just as I expected. Raven stuffed the food into the magic bag I lent him, transforming his initially sullen expression into one of eagerness to return and eat.

“Then, Fuwawa and Rululu, I look forward to working with you. And Raven, please convey my regards to your leader. Also, if there’s anything else you want, just let me know. I’ll try to prepare it to meet your wishes.”

“Got… it…”

“Understood.”

“Leave it to me!”

“Okay then. This concludes our discussion today. From now on, I entrust this Sixth District to you.”

Thus, even though one member was absent, the first meeting concluded without any issues as planned.

A few hours later, as the Birdman Tribe’s leader, Igull, came to see me with the magic bag I lent him, he requested that I provide them with even more meat dishes since they were willing to trade.
