Chapter 321
The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide
Episode 305: That Love Isn’t Over Yet
“Hmm. I see. This is how District 3 looks.”
Having crossed the wall separating District 3 and District 4, I stood by the wall, gazing down at the sprawling landscapes of District 3 below.
“Wilhelm mentioned that District 3 is rich in nature and that houses are built within the trees. Indeed, there are many trees like in the Kingdom of God Tree, and the houses are built inside them, reminiscent of elves.”
It was similar when I visited the Kingdom of God Tree; the elves back then also lived in homes carved into thick trees, and it seems the dark elves do the same.
But if there is one difference, it’s that these trees are pitch black, far from being sacred, and they give off a rather ominous vibe.
“Hm?”
As I continued to examine the area with detection magic, dark elves began to gather a little distance away, spotting me and whispering to each other while pointing fingers.
Then…
“Oh dear.”
Did they consider me an intruder? The dark elves reversed their grips on their spears and, without hesitation, hurled them at me.
“Haha. What a warm welcome. Well then, I’ll have to return the favor properly.”
Watching the five spears approach, I snapped my fingers and used gravity magic; the spears halted just a few centimeters from me, as if caught by some invisible force, freezing in mid-air.
“I’ll return this!”
With that, I pointed the still floating spears back at the dark elves and, using a rebound of gravity magic combined with increased gravitational force, I accelerated the spears multiple times over.
“Gahhh!!”
Thus, like meteors, the five spears rained down, blasting the ground with an explosion that sent the dark elves who threw them flying in all directions.
“Oh, quite a crowd has gathered now.”
The ruckus caught the attention of other dark elves, who hastily approached while helping their blown-back comrades, looking up at me warily.
“It’s pointless to stay here forever, so I guess I’ll go greet them.”
Truthfully, I only intended to use detection magic to search for the moon spirit while glancing around other districts, but with them making such a fuss for attention, ignoring it was not an option.
And so, I descended to where the dark elves were gathered, but even though they were the ones who initiated the confrontation, they glared at me as if I were the enemy responsible for their fallen companions.
“I’ll say it right away: they were the ones who started it. I just returned the spears they threw at me.”
“Silence, human! Why is a lowly creature like you in the Demon Domain?”
“Well, there are circumstances. No need to explain them to you low-tier folks.”
“If you’re not going to explain, then I’ll just kill you!”
“Haha. You think you can kill me? By all means, I’d love to see you try, but I doubt you can.”
The dark elf currently talking, equipped with superior spears and armor compared to the others, was probably some sort of captain or high-ranking officer, but regrettably, he lacked the power to kill me and was no match for Wilhelm.
“What’s all the commotion about?”
“Lady Tiny! We’re under attack!”
“A human is invading!”
Just then, as the dark elves surrounding me looked ready to pounce, a familiar voice reached my ears. I turned to see Tiny standing there, holding a pitch-black spear.
“An attack by a human? Who could it be…”
“Hey, Tiny. It’s been two days.”
“Mr. Lewis?”
Tiny, hearing news of the invasion from her fellow dark elves, wore a stern expression, but quickly changed to one of surprise upon realizing that I was the supposed attacker.
“Mr. Lewis is the attacker?”
“No. I just retaliated after being attacked. So, I don’t have any recollection of starting an assault.”
“I see.”
Tiny said this while glancing behind at her comrades and then at the five spears embedded in the ground.
“I understand most of the situation now. It seems my subordinates misunderstood things, and I offer my apologies.”
“Lady Tiny!?”
The dark elf captain was taken aback, surprise evident on his face as Tiny bowed her head to apologize to me instead of defending them, and he tried to grab her shoulder.
However, quicker than he could act, Tiny swept his legs out from under him, causing him to fall onto his back, and she drove the tip of her spear into his exposed belly.
“Kah!!”
“I’m apologizing right now, you know? Are you trying to interfere with that?”
“I-I’m so sorry…”
“To begin with, it was your side that attacked him, forcing me to apologize, right? And yet, you’re attempting to stop me? Who do you think you are?”
“Please, forgive me!!”
The captain trembled, ready to bolt in fear upon seeing the deep green magic power radiate from Tiny, but he was pinned beneath her spear, unable to escape.
Still, it has to be said that, as expected of a dark elf, her movement and spear handling were of the highest caliber, with just a few motions showcasing her considerable strength.
Unlike ordinary elves like Shuvina, dark elves have superior physical abilities and excel at melee weapons, such as spears and swords, rather than bows.
While they can’t form contracts with spirits like regular elves, they wield a different kind of magic known as curses, allowing them to kill distant enemies.
“Can you handle him later, Tiny?”
“My apologies for my rudeness.”
I didn’t really care what happened to that guy, but continuing to be a spectator to the scene without getting involved seemed tiresome, so I wanted to move the conversation along.
“So then, why are you here in our District 3, Mr. Lewis?”
“I was looking for something. Also, Soware asked me to come to District 2, so I was just thinking of checking out the other districts along the way. Then while peeking over the wall at District 3, I suddenly got spears thrown at me. Since it was such a nice weapon, I figured I’d return it.”
“I see. That explains a lot.”
With that brief summary, Tiny nodded as if she understood and switched the spear she held to her other hand.
“Did Soware invite you after the recent gathering?”
“Yeah. I asked Wilhelm to create an opportunity for a favor, and I got a response during the gathering.”
“I see. But still, for Soware to respond to Mr. Lewis’s request…”
“Are you curious about something?”
Seeing that Tiny seemed to be pondering over Soware, she began to choose her words carefully.
“Honestly, I’m curious but can’t quite grasp what she’s thinking. However, I don’t believe she’d earnestly respond to your request without a reason, and that made me a bit worried.”
“Haha. Sounds just like Bagira.”
“Bagira? What did he say?”
“He seems to think he can’t trust Soware because he doesn’t understand her actions.”
“I see. Given his character, it’s true that he wouldn’t mesh well with Soware.”
“I think so too.”
Bagira isn’t a fool, and he is capable of devising plans behind the scenes like during the Magic Kingdom incident, but his essence is to prefer direct combat.
In contrast, Soware seemed the type to set intricate plans and fight using her head rather than engage directly, so it might be difficult for Bagira, who is fundamentally different, to understand her actions.
“However, the fact that we don’t truly know what she’s thinking is also a reality. While tangible evidence is important, intuition shouldn’t be underestimated either.”
“Is that based on personal experience?”
“Well, who knows?”
As Tiny laughed, her eyes seemed clouded by something dark, and my instincts told me not to delve further into this topic.
“By the way, earlier you mentioned you were searching for something, what are you looking for?”
“About that…”
I hesitated for a few seconds about whether to ask Tiny about the moon spirit, but before I could respond, she spoke up first.
“There’s no need to force yourself to tell me. We’ve only met two times, so it’s more about trust than anything else, I believe.”
“Well, that is true.”
“But if what you seek requires manpower, we’d be more than happy to help.”
That made sense. To be honest, I barely had any information on the moon spirit, so more hands would definitely help. Moreover, being dark elves, they might possess the folklore regarding the sun and moon spirits just like elves do.
“Why would you say that?”
“Simply put, I thought it might serve as an apology for what happened earlier.”
“An apology?”
“Yes. While it was a misunderstanding, it is true that my subordinates were responsible for attacking you first. I thought this could serve as my apology.”
“I see.”
I hadn’t really cared about what had just happened, but if they wanted to apologize, then accepting it wouldn’t be too bad.
Thinking that way, I started considering the pros and cons of discussing the moon spirit with Tiny, and I felt the advantages outweighed the disadvantages, so I decided to use magic targeting her and myself.
“Soundproof magic, huh? This seems like quite the topic that you don’t want anyone else to overhear.”
“Well, kinda.”
“I understand. So, Mr. Lewis, what exactly are you looking for?”
“Do you know about the moon spirit, Tiny?”
“The moon spirit?”
“Yeah. I need to find the moon and spirits for a specific reason, but I have no clue where they are. However, when I met the elven king in the Kingdom of God Tree before, he appeared to know about the sun and moon spirits, so I thought that since you’re also of elven descent, you might know something.”
“I see. That’s what this is about.”
Tiny pondered for a moment, then her expression turned serious as she made eye contact with me again.
“Well, to cut to the chase, I don’t know where the moon spirit is either. However, I have heard of a legend passed down only among dark elf leaders about two primordial spirits.”
“What else?”
“Unfortunately, that’s all I have. As you probably know, unlike the elves of the Kingdom of God Tree, we dark elves don’t have many connections with spirits. Thus, records on these matters are nearly non-existent.”
“I see.”
“But, if you’re searching for the moon spirit in the Demon Domain, that implies you believe it’s somewhere in this country, correct?”
“Well, I’m just considering it as a possibility.”
“I understand. Then I will also look into the moon spirit.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes. As I mentioned, my subordinates are at fault this time, so please don’t worry about it.”
“Alright, I’m counting on you.”
“Leave it to me. But if it’s about information like this, Soware would likely handle it better than I do, so talking to her, and if she seems trustworthy, it may be wise to have her help.”
“That’s definitely true.”
Soware has such a wealth of information that she knew about me even before we met at the gathering, so it might be a good idea to consider her cooperation for this matter.
“Well then, I suppose I’ll be heading to the next district.”
“Understood. If we find any information, I’ll contact you through Bagira.”
“Thanks. Oh, by the way…”
“Still something?”
As I was about to turn to move on to the next district, I remembered something after hearing Bagira’s name and turned back to her.
“Why did you break things off with Bagira?”
“Huh?”
Since I’d been curious about why the ever-jealous Tiny would choose to separate from Bagira, I decided to ask for her reasoning.
“Well, if you promise not to tell Bagira, I could share that with you.”
“Got it. What I’m about to hear won’t leave my lips to Bagira.”
“Understood. But honestly, there’s not a profound reason. Right now, I’m just happy with the moment where I hold his heart completely.”
“Huh? What does that mean…”
“Mr. Lewis. Just think about Bagira now. When he sees me, his fear prevents him from thinking about anything else, and now he surely wonders why I could so easily break up with him. This means, for at least a little while, I can say I have his heart all to myself, right?”
“Uh…”
“Indeed, breaking up with Bagira was painful, but if doing so makes him think about me even a little, that’s enough to make me happy. Besides, our lives are still long ahead of us, so a little separation isn’t a big deal. You know the saying, don’t you? You realize the value of what you had only after losing it. Surely, if Bagira ends up dating someone else in the future, he’ll remember me. And then, he’ll suddenly wonder, ‘Wait? Am I actually in love with Tiny?'”
As Tiny spoke, her eyes were void of light, consumed by dark emotions, and the overwhelming sense of love from her was palpable.
“If, by chance, you end up fighting Bagira, what would you do then?”
“Hehe. That’s an amusing analogy. But it shouldn’t be any problem. Sadly, he won’t be able to defeat me. You do know my power, right?”
At that point, I finally understood that Bagira would indeed not be able to escape her.
Tiny’s power allows her to temporarily steal the abilities of those she envies while preventing them from using those same abilities.
And given that Tiny loves Bagira, the jealousy that she feels towards him is probably immense, which means Bagira would likely have most of his powers stripped from him when they confront each other.
(Bagira. Looks like your love life isn’t over just yet.)
I felt a twinge of sympathy for Bagira as I prepared to leave, but unexpectedly, Tiny called me to a halt.
“Mr. Lewis. Please do your best as well. It seems you have quite a lot going on.”
“…Huh?”
Though her words seemed to refer to matters with the moon spirit and Soware, gazing at her smile made it seem like they were alluding to something else.
Yet whenever I tried to inquire further about the true meaning behind her words, it felt as if I was being prevented from asking more, and in the end, I couldn’t manage to voice any inquiries.
“Sigh. I don’t want to go home.”
Perhaps due to Tiny’s last words, I felt an overwhelming weight in my heart when I thought about the waiting challenges from the girls back home, and for a moment, I considered simply living in the Demon Domain instead.
However, for some reason, I felt that even if I stayed here, escaping from them would be impossible, and ultimately I decided to discard that thought and return home.
After that, I climbed once more to the wall dividing the districts and headed towards District 2, where Soware was supposed to be.
