Chapter 319

The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide

Chapter 303: Is It an Indecent Dream?

“Oh, by the way, Lewis.”

“Huh?”

As Tiny announced the end of the gathering, Horn, who had been the first to leave, along with Tiny and Ten, also headed home. I planned to leave with Bagira too, but just then, Soware, who was also about to exit the room, suddenly turned back as if she remembered something and spoke up.

“I heard from Wilhelm that you’re looking for a demon that amplifies your desire to acquire whatever you want, right?”

“Yeah. That’s right.”

“Well then, I think I’m the perfect candidate. Want me to lend a hand?”

“Soware, huh?”

“Yes. My greed can amplify the desire to get whatever you want—be it money, rare items, status, or even someone you like. With my powers to stir things up, they’ll quickly fall into a state where they can’t resist their desires.”

“That’s precisely the power I was hoping for.”

When I checked on our future plans with Wilhelm and Fūshiru in Saramāju, I had asked Wilhelm to introduce me to a demon that could amplify the desires of the nobles trying to conspire with Rogurando to incite a civil war in the Empire.

At that time, Wilhelm seemed to have someone in mind, and it appears that someone was Soware.

“It sounds like you’ve got something fun planned.”

“Well, yeah.”

“I’m serious about offering my help, so how about we discuss that plan together?”

“Sure. Should I come to your District 2 then?”

“Yes! I think I can have a pleasant chat with you, Lewis. I’m always free, so come by when it suits you. Well then, I’ll be taking my leave now.”

Soware said that before exiting, and just then, she was suddenly hugged from behind with gusto. Turning around, I found Etoile, who was grinning innocently.

“That’s so unfair! Soware! Lewis! Play with me too!”

“Play?”

Under normal circumstances, being asked to play would probably lead to thoughts of board games or exploring the town, but coming from a woman dressed with barely any fabric, exposing a lot of skin—like a lewd fantasy—it couldn’t help but sound like an inappropriate invitation.

Moreover, her power was lust, and she was a queen of indecent dreams, which made matters worse.

“Lewis. Just to warn you ahead of time, when she says ‘play,’ she means real play, okay? Not the kind of stuff like chess or sightseeing.”

“Oh, I’m relieved to hear that.”

“Really? Are you sure you’re not a bit disappointed it’s not that kind of play?”

“Stop it. I’m too scared to talk about that.”

If it were indeed an offer along those lines, considering there are some folks who can see right through me with their mysterious powers, just thinking about what could follow makes me want to escape to somewhere far away.

“What do you mean by ‘that kind of play’?”

Etoile looked around curiously as if searching for something but for some reason wouldn’t budge away from me.

“Bagira, could it be that Etoile…?”

“That’s right. Just as you guessed, she has no knowledge or experience at all regarding such matters.”

“Even though she’s the queen of indecent dreams?”

“Even so.”

This honestly surprised me a bit, given that she had the power of lust as an indecent dream queen, yet seemed utterly ignorant of such knowledge, perhaps still struggling to understand our conversation as she nodded along.

“It seems the reason why might be because of where she lives—the District 5. The queen of indecent dreams is a rather rare race, born only once every few hundred years from such dreams. So, it seems they treat her like a princess and thoroughly keep her from learning that kind of knowledge.”

“But didn’t Wilhelm say that District 5 is also known as the land of men’s fantasies?”

“That’s about the other indecent dreamers. Etoile herself is just an innocent child who knows nothing.”

“Seriously?”

To call this a shocking fact would be an understatement.

I couldn’t pinpoint her exact age, but seeing how she interacted with Bagira and the others, it was clear she was older than me.

Yet, due to her lack of such knowledge, her way of thinking and her actions felt somewhat childish, and the proximity of her presence made me think she might actually be quite dangerous.

“Well, it’s fine since her subordinates are capable, so leaving her be shouldn’t be an issue. Besides, you’ve explained her ability, right?”

“Yeah, I get it. No problem there.”

“That’s how it is.”

Etoile’s ability was said to control those who are aware of her as puppets, so even if someone fell for her, they’d become mere puppets and wouldn’t pose any real danger.

“I don’t really get it, but Lewis, you’re going to play with me next time, right?”

“Uh, sure. I’ll visit Etoile’s place sometime soon.”

“Yay! I’m so happy! Then I’ll go home now and wait for you, Lewis!”

Etoile, satisfied with my response, chirped happily and waved cheerfully as she left the room.

“Speaking of which, Lewis. There’s something I want to ask you.”

“What is it?”

Once we were left alone, Bagira looked at me with a serious expression he hadn’t shown since arriving here.

“I was listening to your conversation with Soware. Are you really planning to get her help?”

“Well, it seems that way. But you heard about this from Wilhelm beforehand, right?”

“Yeah. I heard you’re planning to use a demon to incite a civil war in the Empire. But I’m not too keen on getting Soware’s help.”

“Why’s that?”

“As I said before entering here, trust no one. To you, it might not have seemed like we had a bad relationship, but I had my reasons for saying that.”

“What are those reasons?”

“I can’t tell what any of them are truly thinking, especially Soware. She’s not after power like me, nor does she have a dominating desire like the arrogant ones. Yet, she’s aligned with the conquest faction alongside them.”

“So, you’re saying you find her untrustworthy because you can’t understand her actions?”

“Exactly.”

Indeed, having met the other power holders today, I couldn’t understand what any of them were really thinking, just as Bagira said.

Though they acted kindly, deep down, they were all demons seeking power, and I had no clue when I could be betrayed and attacked from behind.

It makes sense that Bagira would say to trust no one, but I felt that someone like Soware might actually be easier to deal with.

“Well, it shouldn’t be a problem. I believe I can build a good relationship with Soware.”

“Is that so? I just offered my warning, so whatever happens next is on you.”

“Yeah, yeah. Thanks for worrying about me.”

“Idiot. Who’s worrying about you? Let’s get out of here.”

“Got it.”

With that final jest at Bagira, we were done here, and just like when we arrived, we exited the room together.
