Chapter 312
Chapter 312 Copy?
To be precise, Xia Xinyan’s perception abilities weren’t strong enough to detect that these guys were not living beings at first glance.
She could just sense that something was off compared to what she usually encountered. It was like seeing a black billboard on her daily commute suddenly turn white; no one would pay much attention to such a thing, but there would definitely be a feeling that today was different in a way that was hard to explain.
However, the fact that this guy attacked without saying a word was a clear indication that he wasn’t normal. It was no surprise that those who had been involved in the invasion from the beginning would be transformed. After all, that was one of the hardest effects to deal with in these kinds of incidents.
Having experienced the city destruction disaster in her past life, Xia Xinyan couldn’t help but feel that these beings were like the living dead. Besides… the appearance of this person was quite similar to those she had seen affected during the city disaster.
And then there was that thing flying overhead, which was either a demon or a human that had been affected; Xia Xinyan couldn’t determine which.
But faced with this situation, instead of trying to figure out who they were and attempting communication, Xia Xinyan preferred to just kill the guy in front of her…
After all, she wasn’t some saint. Given her style formed after enduring through the Cataclysm, her priority was naturally to eliminate all potential threats to ensure her own safety.
Unless the person in front of her was Tang Tang, there was no reason to expend too much energy.
Hearing this, Ling Mo paused for a moment and nodded: “Watch out for that guy overhead, I’ll handle the one in front.”
With that said, he charged at the guy with the machine gun, and it seemed like the impact of the rotating machine gun didn’t affect him at all. The machine gun guy, too, showed no reaction, standing still and firing like crazy.
Xia Xinyan then looked up at the unclear flying object in the sky; it was getting lower and closer to them. At its current altitude, she was confident she could grab it and beat it down during its next pass.
But before she could act, just as the thing flew by, suddenly another identical figure dashed out from the side and crashed into it. The two figures tumbled to the ground, rolling into a pile while a series of curses erupted—
“Damn it, how dare you mimic me! You’re ruining my image! Damn! You hear me! Damn!”
Then came another identical voice letting out a scream.
Xia Xinyan: “…”
This is a problem.
After being knocked down, she finally got a clear view of the two individuals—though they had human appearances, their arms had wings like a bat but didn’t affect their clothing.
Putting aside the unscientific aspect, what concerned Xia Xinyan more was that the two of them looked completely identical in both appearance and attire.
But based on her perception, the guy who was cursing felt completely normal, while the other guy screaming resembled the machine gun guy, giving Xia Xinyan a very strange vibe.
At this point, Ling Mo had engaged the machine gun guy. Once Ling Mo got within a certain range, the machine gun dude seemed to forget he had a rotating machine gun and just started swinging it at Ling Mo—no need to elaborate on the outcome; the guy’s arms might be made of iron, but Ling Mo was all iron.
Yet this whole situation gave Xia Xinyan a sense of déjà vu.
It reminded her of the first time Ling Mo faced those demons, the feeling of crushing them intelligence-wise.
Neither of them were particularly logical in their actions, and when they got close enough, they seemed to forget their primary attack methods and resorted to flailing around like fools, almost like… demons.
However, for that intelligence-crushing to happen, the premise was that the mindless flailing had to be enough to beat the opponent, which Ling Mo had no trouble doing, but… that bat guy might actually be a bit of a challenge.
After observing for a while, Xia Xinyan decided to step in, calling out, “Get out of the way, I’ll handle this.”
The guy complied quite well, realizing he couldn’t win against this brother from another mother and kicked the other guy away, flapping his wings to fly off.
Then, once out of combat range, he seemed to remember he had wings and tried to take off—
Only to be kicked back down by Xia Xinyan.
Her fighting style was rather straightforward; she just turned her head to the nearby bat guy and asked, “Kill him?”
The bat guy paused for a moment and nodded, “Yes! He’s a monster!”
With permission granted, Xia Xinyan got right to it. Before the bat could fly again, she swung her tail and took him out.
At almost the same moment, Ling Mo finished off the machine gun guy and quickly turned back to the bat guy, asking, “Are you a survivor here? What exactly happened?”
He had paid attention to this side during the fight, ready to lend support if Xia Xinyan ran into any trouble, and had naturally observed the battle with the two bat guys.
If this guy was one of the survivors, he surely knew more than they did.
Xia Xinyan also looked at the bat guy.
The bat guy was panting heavily, clearly exhausted from the earlier fight. After sizing them up for a bit, he suddenly exclaimed, “Wait… you’re Miss Xia and Ling Mo?!”
“You know us?” Ling Mo paused.
“Of course I do!” The bat guy got excited, “You guys are famous online! After playing for so long, how could I not recognize you? I heard you two are pretty amazing—are you here to deal with the troubles here?”
“Yeah,” Xia Xinyan just nodded, not wanting to explain further, “So, do you know what happened here? Who was that guy who looked exactly like you earlier?”
“That was… a demon! Definitely a demon!” The bat guy wiped the sweat from his forehead, clearly still shaken, “I was watching TV when suddenly the power went out, and when I looked outside, I saw someone who looked exactly like me suddenly appear outside my window. It seemed to come out of a round sphere, and it took only two or three minutes.”
With heightened agitation, he added, “Those monsters can copy normal people’s appearances and abilities! When I tried to find help, I even saw one copying the security guard at my residential community and trying to choke him! Thankfully, I managed to save him in time!”
Ling Mo couldn’t help but retort, “Copying again… I really hate this crap.”
