Chapter 307

The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide

Chapter 291: Yasha

Bagira stood ready with his weapon, brimming with fighting spirit, while I merely looked around, noticing Rei and Mei huddled together in the back, shivering and unsure of what to do. Fon, seemingly having found hope with Bagira’s arrival, glared at me.

“Hey, Bagira.”

“Huh? What is it? If you’re hungry, I’ll make sure you eat plenty later, so hold on.”

“No, I’m not really hungry. I just wanted to ask if you could send those guys back there, your subordinates waiting around, away from here?”

“Hm? Those guys?”

As I pointed behind me, Bagira sounded surprised and finally caught sight of Rei and the others who had managed to survive.

“Aren’t you going to kill those three?”

“These three have been taking care of me since they got here, no matter the result. I decided from the start that I wouldn’t kill them as thanks. Plus, having living witnesses would make our stay here a bit easier, right?”

The intent to spare them was already decided, but I also needed them to serve as witnesses to spread the word of what happens if someone messes with me.

“Oh, I see. If that’s the case, I don’t mind.”

Understanding my words, Bagira snapped his fingers to call over his hidden subordinates and promptly evacuated the three.

“Now that we’re rid of the nuisances, we can go all out!”

Bagira grinned, swinging his massive sword with one hand, which created a gust of wind that brushed against my cheek.

“Aren’t you going to use your weapon?”

“Hah. Why not try pushing me into a corner that would force me to use it?”

“Ha ha! When was the last time I was looked down on this much! Alright! I’ll smash that proud nose of yours!”

Despite his rough words, Bagira’s first step was terrifyingly quiet, and before I realized, he had lowered his large frame and was within sword range of me.

“Whoa!?”

The horizontal slash he unleashed was so fast it left sound behind, and it accurately targeted my neck, sending chills down my spine.

“Oh? You dodged it. Well, it seems it wasn’t perfect, though.”

I barely managed to avoid Bagira’s slash and created some distance, but I felt heat in my neck. When I touched it, my hand was covered in bright red blood.

“Hey, hey. Didn’t you just say to give you another go once I came to my senses? That was definitely meant to kill me!”

“Ha ha! If we’re fighting, of course, I’m going to aim to kill. I never thought I could kill you with just that, anyway.”

“Heh. Well, I better meet that expectation then!!”

Bagira’s swordsmanship was faster, more fluid, and much stronger than Sharueina’s. Every movement he made was overwhelmingly superior to hers.

However, there was a difference: the length of the swords. Sharueina’s sword was of normal length, while Bagira’s seemed to be double that, making it impractical for close-quarters techniques like Sharueina’s. It was also likely cumbersome, so if I could slip into close range, I might find opportunities.

“Ha ha! You really are fast. Even I can barely keep up with my eyes.”

“If that’s the case, why not let one hit connect?”

“You’re talking about targeting vital points with your hand while wrapping it in fighting spirit, and yet you think you can hit me easily? You’re definitely out to kill me.”

Still, it’s easier said than done; getting close to Bagira wasn’t simple. He expertly controlled his footing and distance, not giving me a single chance to close in.

Even if I did get close, he would swiftly back away, avoiding my attacks altogether.

“Get over here!!”

When Bagira put his energy into a swing, the pressure alone kicked up stones from the ground, which flew toward me like a whirlwind.

“Ugh!?”

I hurriedly cast a barrier spell to block the debris, but at that moment, a chill ran down my spine. I twisted my body just in time as Bagira’s great sword flew right past me.

“Tch. You dodged that too?”

“Ha ha! Using a flashy trick like that, quite the underhanded tactic!”

“Hah! Is there an underhanded way to fight? I’m using everything I’ve got to win. When it’s time to die, I die after using every last bit. No regrets, no lingering attachments. That’s how our fights always are, right?”

“Ah ha ha! That’s right. It seems we think similarly about battle.”

We couldn’t help but laugh at how similar our perspectives and fighting styles were, but that’s exactly why Bagira had been wearing such an annoyed expression since this fight began.

“Have you decided to draw your weapon yet?”

“Umm, unfortunately, not yet.”

“Tch. You really are a frustrating guy.”

While Bagira and I were indeed similar, a notable difference was that his idea of using everything included psychological warfare, while I purposely provoked my opponent to create advantages for myself. Contrarily, Bagira ignored psychological tactics entirely, relying solely on brute strength to overpower everything.

Even now, as I struggled against my abilities invading my mind and allowing myself to act like such a fool by not wielding my weapon, I could tell that Bagira certainly found this situation quite displeasing.

“Well, enough of this aimless banter. I’ll show you my full force and make this amusing—it’s time for my ‘White Thunder Raiment.’”

The moment I spoke the spell’s name, thunder roared as blue-white lightning burst from my body.

At that moment, it was clear that I was being consumed by my own ego, no longer able to move my body or magic freely as I typically could, and I couldn’t muster the strength I had when fighting Mejeena.

Moreover, it seemed the invasion had progressed to the point where I could no longer use space-time magic. I wasn’t choosing not to wield my weapon; it simply couldn’t be retrieved from storage.

But stating this didn’t help, and unfortunately, I didn’t have any weapon capable of withstanding Bagira’s great sword.

In fact, even if I had Ignid, it would be destructively overpowered by Bagira’s great sword, making any attempt futile and a mere nuisance.

Therefore, the only way I could meet his expectations was to cloak myself in the full might of ‘White Thunder Raiment.’

“Alright then. I understand your current situation, so I’ll be lenient. Plus, you’re trying to exert yourself even in that state, so as thanks, I’ll go a bit more serious myself.”

Bagira didn’t mention anything further about weapons and instead smiled slightly, satisfied, before firmly gripping his great sword with his right hand.

“Race Magic: ‘Yasha.'”

“Ha ha! What an aura! It’s enough to intimidate.”

The moment Bagira activated his race magic, a purple aura enveloped his whole body, and his forehead horn thickened into a menacing shape, while the whites of his eyes turned black.

“Alright, this isn’t my full power, but it should suffice for you now.”

“Wow. I’d argue it’s more than enough.”

Simply based on his aura, he had already surpassed Lucifer, whom I defeated with the Morning Star; though nonexistent in substance, he eclipsed that Lucifer and was certainly at least SS-rank, or perhaps even SSS-rank.

“I genuinely wanted to enjoy this moment a bit longer, but any additional time could attract attention from others. I intend for you to remain in this sector for a while, so I’d rather not stand out. Let’s finish this swiftly.”

While the mention of “others” piqued my curiosity, I had little leisure to think about it as Bagira’s movements accelerated and gained power, making it a challenge even for me in White Thunder Raiment to dodge his attacks.

“‘White Thunder Shock Fist!’”

“Too naive!”

My desperate attack was caught and countered by Bagira’s downward swing, and I found my arm severed vertically.

Trying to create distance after losing my arm, Bagira was on me in a heartbeat, raising his great sword adorned with purple aura and swinging it down with all his might.

“Block it with all your strength! ‘Night Demon Art: ‘Corpse Mountain One Slash’!”

I barely managed to deploy a barrier spell to block the blow, but the incredible force and weight made it impossible to withstand. Cracks formed in the barrier, and I felt myself being crushed down to the ground.

“Ugh!!”

My legs buckled under the weight, flesh and veins ruptured, and blood flowed freely, while eventually even my bones shattered and I fell to my knees.

Yet, somehow, my body was holding strong. However, it was the barrier that reached its breaking point first, shattering under Bagira’s great sword, slicing diagonally from my shoulder to my abdomen.

“Cough…”

“Don’t worry. I managed the distance well, so the wound shouldn’t be too deep.”

“Ha ha ha… What do you mean it’s not deep? I’m bleeding like crazy…”

My blood flowed continuously from the wound, likely due to the excitement from the fight, but as Bagira said, the injury was not fatal. I felt no signs of approaching death.

“Don’t sweat it. You can heal from that quickly. More importantly, you need to face your abilities from here on out.”

“What are you talking about…?”

“You’ll understand soon enough. If you wake up with your sanity intact, I’ll explain properly then. For now, just try not to be consumed by your power.”

With those parting words, I slowly relinquished consciousness due to the blood loss, sinking into the dark realm of unconsciousness.
