Chapter 300

What song is this?

As soon as I heard it, I thought so and sent my thoughts directly to Jeong-hoon.

It seems like he made some sort of track, but it’s quite mysterious.

(Jeong-hoon) – I created this based on a vibe I felt, but what’s lacking… I was hoping Miro could give me some feedback.

Hmm…

It seems Jeong-hoon was pondering alone, likely having the same thoughts as me.

To be honest, even if he asked me, I’d struggle to give a proper response.

Sure, I claim to be the leader of Miro Family, but I’m an amateur in composition.

Not that I have an abundance of musical knowledge?

Nope.

I might have a slightly better ear than the average person just from singing, but that’s about it.

Even if Jeong-hoon has high hopes, it would be tough for me to give a solid answer.

Well then…

(Me) – Have you asked anyone else?

(Jeong-hoon) – No…

(Me) – Then let’s ask.

We can ask someone talented like Jeong-hoon.

There are surely composition experts in Miro Family.

Loa and Harbin are… honestly, they’re a touch better than me, but Lee Seo-yeon, Lee Kang-jun, and Rain are on a professional level, aren’t they?

(Jeong-hoon) – Well… I’m a bit embarrassed to show this since it’s not the final version.

It seems Jeong-hoon isn’t too keen on that.

Thinking about it, he’s still a teenager who hasn’t even graduated high school, so it’s understandable he might hesitate to seek feedback on something he feels is lacking.

However…

(Me) – So just one person??

(Jeong-hoon) – Who?

(Me) – Kang-jun?

Without pain, there’s no growth.

As an adult who should guide the youth, I have a duty to gently lead Jeong-hoon onto the right path for his development.

(Me) – Are you okay with Kang-jun?

(Me) – You two are close, right?

(Me) – Don’t you still game together?

So, I shot a message to my buddy Jeong-hoon.

(Jeong-hoon) – We do play games together…

(Me) – Then what’s the harm? Let’s just show it to Kang-jun for some casual feedback, okay?

Jeong-hoon, who’s still a bit dazed by this adult-level diplomatic persuasion, replied.

(Jeong-hoon) – Got it… But can you ask in my stead?

(Me) – Alright, alright, I gotcha.

In the end, I got approval.

As soon as I saw that message, I sent the song file to Lee Kang-jun.

(Lee Kang-jun) – What’s this?

(Me) – Jeong-hoon asked for feedback, and he told me to pass it on to you.

(Lee Kang-jun) – Jeong-hoon did?

(Me) – Yeah, he said he’s too embarrassed to ask directly, so can you please provide some feedback through me?

(Lee Kang-jun) – Instead of Composer Kang Woo-hyeon, you’re asking me?

He raised an eyebrow at the random feedback request, but later responded that he would.

A few days later.

I received a message back from Lee Kang-jun.

(Lee Kang-jun) – (file)

(Lee Kang-jun) – In addition to giving feedback, I sought Jeong-hoon’s permission and revised it a bit. But… honestly, I’m not entirely satisfied with it.

This guy seems to have worked hard on it for a few days, looking a little miffed.

I expressed my gratitude and listened to it before sending it to Jeong-hoon.

Hmm…

It’s definitely improved!

But like Lee Kang-jun mentioned, there’s still something slightly regretful about it.

How should I put it…

If the song Jeong-hoon provided was like a rough skeleton, then Lee Kang-jun has just fitted it together nicely.

What it needs is muscle, flesh, and skin.

First, I sent the received file to Jeong-hoon and contemplated.

Lee Kang-jun had assembled a skeleton that wasn’t quite his style.

What would others do?

I wondered how it would change once shown to lyricist Lee Seo-yeon, Loa, Harbin, and Rain.

They might naturally enhance the skeletal framework into something vibrant, right?

But to see such outcomes, I had to persuade Jeong-hoon.

(Me) – Jeong-hoon.

(Jeong-hoon) – Yes?

(Me) – Should we show it to others?

(Jeong-hoon) – Yes???

It wasn’t too hard to persuade him.

Once you’ve done it once, the second time is easy.

Having shown it to Lee Kang-jun already, his psychological resistance must have diminished significantly.

As a gentle persuasion led to…

(Jeong-hoon) – Then…

I got an affirmative reply, saying that he’s okay with showing it to Loa, Harbin, and lyricist Lee Seo-yeon, with whom he’s known for longer.

Hmm… Rain seems to be a more recent addition, making it a tad awkward.

But now that I had the go-ahead, I relayed it over.

Days later, I received another reply.

“Wow…”

Like Kang-jun, I told them to try adding their style to it, and the length of the track increased right off the bat.

What had been just over two minutes now stretched to a little over three.

Listening to it, it surely felt like various enhancements had been added.

‘Nice!’

It genuinely got better.

After all, Jeong-hoon had sent me something fresh even though it was incomplete!

Sending that right back to Jeong-hoon, he too was satisfied.

(Jeong-hoon) – Wow, it really improved.

You could sense the awe in his response.

In truth, just because more people were involved doesn’t necessarily mean the song gets better.

But I suppose this time it just lucked out.

(Me) – Still, isn’t there something left to be desired?

(Jeong-hoon) – Huh? I feel like it just needs a bit more polishing.

That’s right.

Just a little more refining and Jeong-hoon would have a great track on his hands.

What I wanted for the Miro Family’s final song is finally coming to fruition.

I should be excited, yet there’s something lingering.

… I want to show it to Rain too.

Huh?

She’s a veteran who’s been through a lot.

She should be even better at polishing it, right?

She has a unique sense of style after all.

(Me) – Jeong-hoon, I’ve been thinking…

So, I started gently nudging Jeong-hoon again.

**

A few days later.

Before we resumed filming, during the last broadcast.

– Miro, I saw the photo you posted yesterday!

– Can’t you follow me back?

– Are you ignoring your fans???

“Ahh, truly, what on earth are you saying?”

The broadcast was buzzing with chatter related to my Instagram.

After posting again while resting at home yesterday, the chat became lively.

People seemed a bit anxious now that we’re entering the agency and my Instagram is firing up.

… Once we start filming again tomorrow, the broadcast frequency will become uncertain again.

What a hassle.

After a while of sipping a drink and racking my brain amidst the now-boisterous chat room,

Beeep.

My phone, set to vibrate, buzzed.

I picked it up wondering if there was any news during the break.

(Ahn Jung-hwan): It’s done.

“Wow…”

I couldn’t help but gasp at that message.

It was about time for the completion, and the timing couldn’t be better.

Finding the file I had saved previously to share before hitting the mic again felt just right.

“Everyone, I have an important announcement.”

-??

-What’s with the suddenness??

-What’s going on?

“Check this out.”

Saying so, I displayed an apology from Ahn Jung-hwan for the delay in releasing the music video, along with a teaser they specially made for us.

At first, a clear, serene spring appeared on the screen.

So clear it could remind one of the tranquil lake featured in the music video.

Drop.

A drop of black paint splattered into that pristine spring.

As the black paint fell, ripples spread swiftly through the once-clear spring.

Yet, the transparent water still held dominance…

Drop, plop.

With one drop, two drops.

As the black drops continued falling, the water in the spring was gradually tainted black.

From that darkened water, a girl resembling a black spirit suddenly emerged.

She stepped out of the spring and walked through the forest.

The woods weren’t that vast.

Passing through some shrubs, the bright lights of a city appeared.

The girl stepped out of the forest onto the city street.

And then, at that moment.

Across the street stood a pure white silhouette.

Almost like the opposite of the girl.

Just as curiosity began to stir…

– Ah

– What was that??

The music video ended.

And then after.

In a black background that had seemed to conclude, stylish typography appeared.

[Hiseok (feat.???)]

With the title of the song and concealed featuring name, the video came to a close.

-???

– This music video blows my mind, haha!

– The quality is insane again!

– What even is this?

– I thought it was anime for a moment.

– Is a new song coming out?

“How are you? This time we prepared a teaser too.”

– Haha!

– Total Miro!

– The teaser is absolutely fantastic!

It was a somewhat unexpected reveal, and since the last song was just out, the viewers were caught off guard.

More importantly, with this, all four songs slated for the album are now complete.

Loneliness, Wind, Multi-Colored, Hiseok.

Now all that’s left is to finalize one more song and the album title.

Thus, as the teaser for the new song ignited the chat, bringing uncontainable joy to the viewers, I continued with the broadcast.

Beeep.

My phone vibrated again on the desk.

I thought it might be Ahn Jung-hwan again and checked, only to find it was a message from Rain.

(Rain) – I’ve completed everything you asked for!

It wasn’t Ahn Jung-hwan, but Rain who sent the message.

Completed? Ah.

Now that I think about it, I did convince Jeong-hoon to refine it a few days ago.

I had forgotten about it since it took longer than expected.

But now it appears to be finished.

Upon seeing the file attached to the message, a smile involuntarily appeared.

The final track had come together at last.

What title should I give it?

Although I haven’t listened to what Rain refined yet, I remember the previous version well enough to recall the contents.

Hmm…

It struck me while contemplating the title, and I noticed my phone screen still showing Rain’s message.

(Rain) – I’ve completed everything you asked for!

Reading the message again, one word caught my attention.

“Completed?”

Isn’t this the final song of the album, created through the efforts of many?

As I made an effort to say it out loud, the sound felt pleasant.

“That’s good.”

-???

– Aren’t you going to continue the broadcast?

– What are you rambling about?

And so, before I could even rejoice over the completion of the music video for the fourth song, I had already finalized the title for the fifth.
