Chapter 289

The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide

Interlude: Seventh Loop

“Hahaha! Ahhahaha!”

Having completed my seventh return from death, Lewis realized that he was back in his usual room within the duke’s territory and burst into laughter like a broken machine.

“Ugh, damn it hurts. If you’re gonna do it, just finish me off in one hit. Damn it.”

After laughing maniacally for a while, Lewis climbed out of bed, cursing at the pain lingering in his body, marked by Iris.

“Ahh, whatever. I’m starting to not care anymore. What the hell am I even living for?”

He muttered this without much thought, but there was no vitality in his eyes; instead, resignation filled them.

“Dying right now doesn’t sound too bad, but I’d feel bad for my father and mother, who will have to see my corpse later. Well, I guess I’ll live until I die again. Ugh, this is such a drag.”

This time, Lewis considered committing suicide. But in that moment, he remembered his parents, who had persistently believed in him despite being betrayed countless times. He stopped himself from going through with it.

“Lord Lewis, may I come in?”

“Yeah, I’m awake, so you can come in.”

“Excuse me.”

When Miria entered the room, she looked at him with a slightly surprised expression.

“Is something wrong?”

“No, it’s just that you seem a bit different.”

“Oh, really?”

Maybe it’s because she’s known him for a long time, but Miria noticed his changed demeanor the instant she saw him.

“Did something happen?”

“Nothing in particular. Speaking of which, today’s the meeting with your fiancée, right?”

“Oh, yes.”

“Then let’s hurry and get ready. I imagine time isn’t on our side.”

“Understood.”

Miria, while questioning Lewis’s change, sensed he had no intention of talking further and proceeded to help him get ready for his upcoming appointment.

“Alright, let’s go meet your fiancée.”

“Yes.”

Thus, Lewis left his room to have his first meeting with Iris since the second loop.

After that, Lewis went about his life just like before.

He ate the same food, studied the same as always, and talked with his parents just like usual.

If there was one difference, it was that he seemed to lack any fighting spirit.

Alive yet feeling dead, he seemed to exist in a detached, almost transcendental state, as if he was watching a story unfold.

Edward and Elise noticed his change as well, but ultimately, they couldn’t say anything until Lewis entered the academy, and he ended up starting school just like that.

Even after entering the academy, Lewis didn’t do anything particular and lived a lethargic life, not even bothering to connect with anyone or skipping classes.

As a result, Ride, who was strict about noble dignity in the same class, accused him several times, but it didn’t resonate with Lewis at all.

Then, just like always, Shudo awakened as a hero, and when they became second-year students, Lewis’s dull and peaceful daily life suddenly came to an end.

One day, Sephiria, who had entered Suzette Imperial Academy as a new student, suddenly came into the second-year classroom with several knights, glaring at Lewis with cold eyes as she spoke.

“Lewis Valentine, you have been designated as an heretic by divine mandate. Therefore, you shall die as you are an enemy of the gods.”

“Huh? What the hell does that mean?! I haven’t done anything!”

In the face of such a sudden event, even Lewis was taken aback and protested, but soon found himself restrained by knights, rendered unable to move.

“We’ll discuss this before His Majesty the Emperor. Knights, take him away.”

“Yes!”

With coordinated movements as if it had all been prearranged, Lewis was escorted away, bound, and placed in a carriage that hurriedly took him to the imperial castle’s audience chamber.

In the audience chamber, many nobles, knights, and even mages had already gathered, including the presence of Lewis’s parents.

“Your Majesty! What is the meaning of this?!”

“Lewis is not a heretic! This is some kind of mistake!”

Edward and Elise desperately tried to defend Lewis, but neither the Emperor nor anyone else paid them any heed. Everyone believed Sephiria’s words as if it were common sense, looking at Lewis with eyes of judgment.

Amidst this, Sephiria, standing between the Emperor and Lewis, slowly opened her eyes, gathering everyone’s attention.

“The gods have decreed: the parents who birthed the heretic are themselves heretics. Therefore, execute those parents.”

“Understood. Knight Commander.”

“Yes, sir!”

“W-wait! Please, spare my parents…!”

For the first time in a long while, Lewis’s clear emotions erupted with a painful shout, but it didn’t reach a single person there. The Knight Commander executed Edward and Elise without mercy, revealing their heads, rolling away on the floor.

The thick scent of blood filled the audience chamber as the two heads rolled.

“Oh… ahhhhhhh!!!”

The emotions Lewis had nearly lost surged forth upon witnessing the death of his beloved parents, almost as if they wouldn’t allow him to become emotionless.

Then, bursting forth with magic power, Lewis broke free from his restraints, embraced his parents’ heads that had fallen before him, and smashed through the wall of the audience chamber.

“I’ll definitely… definitely kill you all! I’ll make sure to kill every last one of you!!”

With eyes filled with rage and hatred, Lewis declared, using flight magic to dart out of the imperial castle, landing on a hill overlooking the imperial city.

“Father, Mother. Please forgive me for not being able to send you off properly. In exchange, I will show you the destruction of this country. From here, you should be able to see it well.”

Wiping away tears streaming down his cheeks, he glared at the imperial city once more with unwavering resolve and vanished from that spot.

Afterward, Lewis entered the forests surrounding the empire, using magic to subdue monsters and, when preparations were complete, launched a simultaneous assault on the empire from all sides with those monsters.

The march of the monsters was tremendous, and the small villages could not cope with the unexpected assault, leading to the rapid destruction of the empire from the outside.

Watching the monsters’ advance from above, Lewis looked down with eyes as if viewing mere trash at the sight of people fleeing and the echoing screams, while the monsters mercilessly killed people.

“Hah. To see such a tragic sight and feel nothing at all. I suppose I’ve finally lost it.”

Ignoring the fiery red buildings, the people being crushed or torn apart, and even the scent of blood in the air, Lewis continued onward, only focused on avenging his parents.

Finally, just as he was about to reach the imperial capital, he was confronted by Shudo, wielding the holy sword, along with Iris and her companions.

“We won’t let you go any further! We’ll kill you here and protect the empire!”

“Lord Lewis! We cannot allow any more brutality!”

Shudo, Iris, Shuvina, Sonia, and even Sharueina all drew their weapons and shouted at Lewis, but none of their words reached him.

“Just as the gods said, you indeed are a heretic. As a heretic, you shall die here.”

“Damn it. What do you mean by gods? What have I… what have my parents done? I will never forgive this. Saintess! You alone I will kill with my own hands!”

With those words, Lewis glared at Sephiria with eyes full of hatred, unsheathed his sword, and faced Shudo and the others.

“I’ll kill you!”

“May you receive the judgment of the gods!”

And so, Lewis and Shudo continued to fight with no regard for anything else, but as always, the outcome was the same—Lewis was defeated, his arms and legs severed, rolling on the ground.

(Why?! I can’t even take revenge for my father and mother! This country, this world, everything should be destroyed!)

Cursing the empire that had killed his parents and resenting a world that wouldn’t let him take revenge, Lewis ended his life with tears, pierced through the heart by the holy sword held by Shudo, without achieving anything, thus finishing the seventh loop of his life.

◇ ◇ ◇ ◇ ◇

And with that, the past arcs of the sixth and seventh loops come to a close.

While this was quite a heavy development yet again, I feel like we’re gradually getting closer to the current Lewis.

The next story will be a special one in celebration of reaching 3 million PVs.

As for who the main character will be, please look forward to it until the update!

Starting from Tuesday, a new chapter is set to begin, so please look forward to it as well when the new arc starts!
