Chapter 280
The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide
Chapter 268: Summoning
After the battle with Lucifer, as we were forcefully teleported outside the dungeon, the sight of the cratered ground and the ruined temple met our eyes. In front of us stood Lime, showing an unusually flustered expression alongside the other teachers.
“L-Lime Sensei! That!”
“Oh, Lewis-kun! And everyone too!”
Upon noticing us, Lime rushed over at an incredible speed for her small frame and came to my side where Fiera was standing.
“Why are you in such a sorry state!!”
“Well, a lot has happened.”
“A lot? What do you mean by that!”
“Can we skip the explanations for now and just rest quickly? I’m pretty exhausted, you know.”
Looking at the state I was in, with my uniform tattered from the battle against Lucifer and covered in minor cuts, it was no wonder she was worried and curious, but I wanted her concern to be directed toward getting me some rest for now.
“Argh! Fine! You guys should hurry back to the academy and rest! And everyone else can return and rest as well. The kids who left first have already gone home. I apologize to the adventurers, but please explain what you can about the situation!”
“Thank you very much!”
“It’s not about gratitude! I’ll be asking you later too!”
“Haha. I get it!”
I understood Lime was worried and angry for me, but with her petite height and the way she puffed her cheeks like a child denied a toy, she seemed more like a kid sulking.
“And those kids over there were in the same party as him, right?”
“Ah, yes! That’s correct!”
“Then can you please help carry him to the infirmary with the others? I’m sorry for making you do this when you’re tired.”
“Leave Shudo-kun to us!”
And so, Shudo, who was still unconscious, was accompanied by the girls from our party, while the boys helped get him back to the academy ahead of us.
At that moment, it seemed one of the girls, who appeared to be from the same party, was holding the holy sword, ensuring they didn’t forget to bring it back.
“Eir. We’ll explain the rest, so you just head back to the academy and take a break.”
“Ah, I’m sorry, but I’ll take you up on that. By the way, how long are Rick and the others planning to stay in the imperial capital?”
“Hm? Well, we’re planning to stay for about another week. The supervision request we were assigned lasts four days, after which we intend to accept requests and do some sightseeing.”
“Then save the night four days from now for me. We made a promise, remember?”
“Oh. Haha, right, I forgot about that. Got it!”
I had made plans to go drinking with Rick and the others once the dungeon training was over, so despite everything that had happened, I had to keep that promise.
Plus, thanks to the battle with Lucifer, I felt good enough to enjoy a great drink in four days.
“Well then, shall we head back?”
“Yeah. Let’s go.”
“Lewis-sama. Is walking too painful for you? If you’d like, I can create a water cushion using water magic for you.”
“Oh, that would help a lot. Honestly, walking or using magic seems like such a hassle right now.”
“Understood. However, please forgive me if the sitting isn’t as comfortable as your usual water cushion.”
Iris said this and conjured up a water cushion the same size as the one I usually used, moving it to a position where I could sit easily.
“Ahh. This is a nice sitting experience. Plus, your magic manipulation has improved significantly.”
“Hehe. Thank you.”
While I casually referred to it as a water cushion, the truth is, this magic requires considerable magic manipulation skills to control and move the water sphere once it’s activated, making it deceptively difficult.
Thinking about how Iris has been able to create and maneuver it, I could see just how much she had grown and how hard she had worked.
“Such a nice thing, making a girl carry you with magic.”
“Well, it’s alright, don’t you think? After such a battle, it’s only natural to feel tired, right?”
“However, it felt like you instigated that fight, didn’t you…”
“El sinking into the water cushion. It’s just too cute.”
I thought I could hear Shuvina and the others saying something behind me, but in my fatigued state, their words didn’t matter to me, and I allowed myself to drift into a blissful nap on the water cushion.
The day after dungeon training ended.
The academy was buzzing with a certain rumor that day.
The rumor was that a Hero had been born, likely spread by one of the students who witnessed Shudo pull the holy sword alongside us yesterday.
Well, rumors tend to spread quickly, especially in this academy with many noble kids, and news travels like wildfire.
Interestingly, there was another rumor circulating around the academy that suggested I possessed monstrous strength.
The same students who likely remained in the area spread the word that Lewis Valentine was strong enough to defeat angels, leading to many fearful gazes directed at me, as if they were looking at a monster or beast.
“This attention is annoying.”
“I agree. I don’t care how others see me, but being stared at without discretion is uncomfortable.”
By now, I couldn’t care less how people see me or what rumors are spread about me, but having my every move scrutinized was a troublesome nuisance.
“Good morning, Is.”
“Ah. Good morning, Sharueina.”
“I’m really happy you’re calling me without honorifics! I should have asked you to do this sooner.”
“If it weren’t for that incident, I wouldn’t have listened to such a request.”
“I see. Well, that makes sense.”
As soon as we entered the academy, it was as if Sharueina had been waiting for us, and she smiled for some reason.
By the way, the reason I started calling her without honorifics was that she asked me to do so while we were in the carriage back to the academy.
At first, she insisted I call her Sharu-nee like I used to, but that would have been poor form publicly, so we compromised on dropping the honorifics.
She probably tried to say it many times but was interrupted, so I felt a bit sorry for her, and because I had enjoyed sparring with her and had some incidents with Rogurando, I decided to grant her request.
“So, what brings you here today?”
“Oh, right. The headmaster asked me to summon you earlier. He probably wants to talk about the rumors spreading since this morning.”
“Ah, got it. By the way, which one?”
“Hm, officially it’s probably regarding the Hero. However, if I had to guess, I think he’s more interested in you.”
“Is that so?”
Regarding the headmaster summoning me, I figured he wanted to discuss the Hero, just as Sharueina predicted, but according to her, it seems my own rumors were the main focus.
“Then I’ll head over right now.”
“Yeah. That’s probably for the best.”
“Fiera and the others should head to the classroom first. I can skip class without issue, but you all can’t.”
“Got it.”
“Understood.”
“Alright then, since I’ve delivered my message, I’ll head back to the classroom. Tell me about it later.”
With that, Fiera and Sharueina made their way to their respective classrooms, and I turned my back on them to head for the headmaster’s office.
“Oh, while I’m at it, maybe I’ll bring that up too. It might just be the right opportunity.”
After finishing my explanation regarding this matter, I decided I’d also talk about that request I had made earlier and headed to the headmaster’s office, trying to contain my excitement.
