Chapter 243

The year-end approached.

The grass and trees in the yard dressed in white clothing, while Bok-sil, who had a similar hue, frolicked in between them.

Sitting in the warm living room, watching this scene, it truly hit me that the year was coming to an end.

It had certainly been a year full of ups and downs.

I traveled to Japan twice, a second generation debuted, and we held a 1st anniversary commemorative broadcast.

I released a song with the composer and had a movie come out, plus I attended Hyeon-su’s concert.

Thinking back on all the things I did this year, it really felt like I had been busy.

“Such a pitiful situation…”

Lost in memories of this memorable year, I sat alone on the living room sofa gazing out the window when Mrs. Jang casually threw her remark.

Pitiful, huh…

“Do you know how I feel?”

“No, I don’t, you idiot.”

“…”

Just wait till Manager Kim retires.

On the day I become the head of this household, I will restore order.

Anyway, I slowly rose from my seat.

It was around afternoon. It was time to do a broadcast.

Today is a special day, so our viewers are probably waiting eagerly.

I headed straight to my room and sat down in front of my computer desk.

Setting up the broadcast, I glanced at the date written in the corner of the monitor.

12/24

Right.

Today is the biggest event of the year-end.

It’s Christmas.

“Ah, can you hear me?”

-Khaha

-I believed it, haha

-Long live Miro

It’s also a day when merely turning on the broadcast earns me applause.

Seriously, haven’t I been turning it on nearly every day lately?

For some reason, many people were waiting in the waiting room, looking quite anxious.

“Merry Christmas to everyone.”

-Yeah, yeah

-It’s still Christmas Eve

Truth be told, I almost forgot about broadcasting last Christmas because I was out and about all day, so I can’t say much there.

Well, I did get messages saying everyone was gathering today, but I simply didn’t go.

Didn’t I attend last year? Plus, this year is different from last, isn’t it?

Thinking about the impending conversations starting from “Kim Soo-hyun appeared on TV~,” it’s a bit headache-inducing, so I decided to avoid it.

“How is everyone spending Christmas Eve?”

As the chat pointed out earlier, today is indeed the day before Christmas, or Christmas Eve.

Tomorrow is Christmas.

But aren’t they basically a set?

So I roughly group them together.

-Yeah, yeah

-Looks like they’re having a good time?

-I’m with my girlfriend, hehe

“Seems like everyone is doing well.”

Well, whether it’s me or the viewers, connecting through an internet broadcast on Christmas Eve doesn’t really mean we’re doing that well, but as long as we enjoy ourselves, that’s what matters.

“Shall we have a little party? It’s Christmas after all.”

-Let’s do it

-Sounds good

-I already ordered chicken, haha

You can genuinely feel everyone’s excitement about Christmas through the chat.

Of course, I’m feeling a bit pumped too.

Even if someone calls me a child, I can’t help it.

Am I even a child for real?

Well, if we’re talking about sheer volume of memories, I might be similar to Mrs. Jang outside, but I tend not to worry about such trifles.

“I’ll grab some snacks and drinks too, let’s watch a movie together.”

I didn’t have anything specifically planned, but this is what you think of when you think of a party, right?

Usually during pajama parties, everyone gathers to watch movies.

-Let’s do it

-What are we watching?

-A movie starring actor Kim Soo-hyun, of course!

“Let’s skip the movie and watch an anime instead.”

I wanted to see a movie… but thinking about it, I felt like I’d end up rolling in actor references, so I quickly shifted gears.

Given how things are now, I wonder how it’ll be once dramas and more songs are released… I’m a little worried about that.

Or maybe by that time, I’ll have achieved enlightenment?

To be honest, it feels a bit embarrassing to even be called a VTuber at this stage.

With that, I headed casually to the living room and grabbed a few snacks.

Since it’s year-end, I received quite a few gifts from various places.

“Alright, what did everyone bring?”

-Ordering chicken, be right back

-Wait a sec

“Well then, I’ll pick out an anime for us to watch.”

Noticing that some viewers seem to still be getting ready, I started searching for potential anime options.

There’s plenty to choose from.

After all, I didn’t watch any anime this year, so it’s a matter of selecting a popular one.

There’s usually at least one hit anime each year.

“What genre should we go for?”

It looks like this year has been either action or rom-com… which one is better, I wonder?

Typically, action is a safe bet, but it’s Christmas, so maybe rom-com?

While choosing an anime, I suddenly remembered one important thing.

I really must be getting excited. I had almost forgotten about this.

“Oh right. Before we watch the anime.”

-Before?

-What’s up?

“Since we have a song coming out today, I’ll casually announce that.”

A song composed by Lee Kang-jun, lyrics by Lee Seo-yeon, with vocals by Miro will be released today.

And with a music video to boot.

-???

-I had no idea about this!

-Why are you telling us this now?

“Well, you can think of it as a surprise event.”

I initially intended to release it without mentioning it, but I figured I should at least do some minimal promotion.

If I just released it quietly, and it flopped quietly too, that’d be embarrassing, right? This much is necessary for word of mouth.

-What’s the song even about?

-The title, what is it?

“Title? Well, the title was decided and given to me by Lee Kang-jun and Lee Seo-yeon right after the song was completed.”

Although I think it sounds nothing like me… I still feel it somewhat suits me.

“…it is.”

-??

-?

“Doesn’t it sound like a title that fits me? Sob sob.”

-Don’t be too rough;

-You social person, you;

-What on earth kind of song has a title like that?

“Well, anyway, we still have plenty of time, let’s find some anime to watch.”

Since the release is scheduled for later in the afternoon, there’s still time to catch up on a few anime episodes.

While it might be tough to watch them all today, I’d like to at least watch half, so I have to pick quickly.

“How about this one?”

While scrolling through the anime list, I noticed the original version of an anime highlight I found really impressive last time I aired the video donation.

The action scenes in it were fantastic, should I show this instead?

At least it shouldn’t be boring to watch.

-This one’s great!

-It’s a masterpiece!

-For real, it’s amazing!

“Wait, have you all seen it?”

-Yeah, yeah

-Sure have

-Who hasn’t seen it?

“Then let’s watch something else.”

When watching together, the other person should be clueless too.

Watching something already seen would have no fun, right?

If we’re hosting a screening, the viewers should be unaware too to make it enjoyable.

For a movie, which is just two hours straight, that’s fine, but isn’t an anime usually longer than that?

Thus, I need to select carefully when picking something.

-??

-Just go ahead and watch it

-I’ve seen every popular one;

“Ah, I don’t care, let’s watch something I haven’t seen. Have you seen this one?”

The next choice was another popular shounen anime that came out around the same time.

-Is that one? I haven’t seen it, hehe

-Nope, never watched it, haha

-Who’s watching that?

“I’ve heard it’s pretty fun.”

Click, that was a deliberate pick knowing it was popular.

Looks like these people are lying now.

-Dude, let’s just pick something

-I swear I haven’t missed any

-You’re being too picky here;

“Wait a moment.”

Of course, it’s not that I want these numerous viewers clustered here for Christmas to all pick something unknown.

I mean, those would probably be found in niche genres, right?

What I’m after is an anime where a majority is unaware, yet fun, and enough to keep time bustling—like a little hole-in-the-wall shop in a rural sunlit corner.

“Now, now, you need to be honest. Have you seen this one?”

-;;; I have

-That one’s well-known

-Dude, I’ve seen that too

“Who said we all needed to have seen it? What about this one?”

-I haven’t seen that

-Ooh…

-Isn’t that a bit too old?

“Right. Let’s skip this one since it’s too old.”

-Rude;;

-I’m getting mad here, haha

[Thank you to ㅇㅇ for the 1,000 won donation!]

If this jerk keeps dragging it out for another hour, it wouldn’t hurt to give some thumbs down, haha.

-Khaha

-For real, thumbs down, haha

-Dude, got played!

“Ugh, that’s really not the case…”

Continuing my scroll, I stumbled upon a potentially good anime.

It was one of those rom-coms I had heard of but wasn’t that famous.

I vaguely remembered that female Kim Soo-hyun had watched a bit of an anime adaptation long ago, so I knew it had some fun elements in it.

“This is it, what about this one, have you seen it?”

-What’s this supposed to be?

-Can we watch something else?

-Oh, this one is fun!

-What’s this all about?

Seeing the viewers’ reactions gave me confidence.

“I’ll go with this one.”

I realized that was the right choice.

-Dude

-What on earth is this?

-Are we really ruining Christmas vibes here???

“I’m so looking forward to it… let’s start from the first episode.”

With that, the fun-filled Christmas anime screening began for everyone.

*

“How’s it? Pretty fun, right?”

-Let’s go for a chat

-This is awesome, haha

-I’ve seen the manga, but the anime seems well-made, yeah!

I ended the anime screening right at the halfway point, exactly as I had intended.

While I wanted to continue watching, it was about time to stop.

From the audience reactions, it seemed they were satisfied.

Well, honestly, it was even more fun than I had originally thought.

“I’ll save the rest for next time, so don’t spoil it for me.”

-Oh sure, haha

-What happens if I spoil it?

-I won’t watch it, haha

“Seriously, don’t you dare.”

Aren’t these people going to spoil it for me?

…Feeling a bit anxious, I couldn’t think of a way to stop them, so I just shrugged it off.

“Oh, and the song is ready for its first public release.”

While we were watching the anime, the manager had set up the waiting room for the song release on the Miro YouTube Channel.

“Alright, everyone go wait over there.”

I too entered the waiting room for the first public release on the YouTube channel through the stream.

“This one turned out nicely, so you can look forward to it.”

-Really?

-Is it that good?

-If it’s not good, I’ll be mad, haha

“The music video is spectacular, so don’t worry… and then.”

-Yeah?

-Is there more?

-Just 5 minutes left until it starts

“Shall we end the stream soon?”

-??

-What do you mean?

-What?

I could come up with all sorts of excuses, but the truth is, in my relationship with the viewers, one bold sentence is much more important than any excuses, so I spoke without hesitation.

“I’ll run now.”

After all, being Christmas, even other members, including second-generation members, are all streaming.

And since my song is also set for release, everyone is waiting together, so I don’t think I need to worry about promotion.

-Don’t just mess with us, alright?

-Really??

-You’re really leaving like this?

-Dude, when are you coming back?

“Well then, please look forward to the first song from the Miro Family.”

-Is this for real? Damn

-What’s this, another one?

-You said it was a party, so I ordered more chicken, damn

With that, I ended the broadcast.

Moments later.

The song <Loneliness> was released.
