Chapter 234

The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide

Chapter 227: A Bit Tired

Watching the foolish adventurers run toward the entrance, completely oblivious to Sharueina’s absence and influenced by Shudo, I lightly kicked the ground and floated into the night sky with flight magic to gaze at the moon.

“It’s a full moon tonight. What a nice evening.”

After admiring the moon for a while, I turned my back to it and couldn’t help but smile at the anticipation of what was to come.

“Well then, shall we get started? Magic power release.”

The moment I unleashed the magic power I had been holding back, a silvery light flooded over the entire Saramāju, illuminating the night sky as if it were in perpetual daylight.

“This range should be adequate. Now, time for some long-overdue incantation.”

I would use two spells tonight, both supreme-level magic from each respective attribute. It was my first experience using a spell that encompassed an entire nation, so it was necessary to go through the trouble of chanting.

“I, the seeker of divine judgment, I, the seeker of divine condemnation. The divine is just and fair, and all evil shall be judged under the love of the divine. Therefore, divine judgment is absolute, and the love of the divine is absolute. Designation: Range, the chaotic nation of Saramāju. Sin: All sins according to the laws of the Ruzenia Empire. Now, sinful humans, those bound by karma, the time has come for you to atone for all your sins. It is the time of judgment. Oh divine being, heed my call and judge all evil. First Stage: ‘Divine Judgment of Creation.'”

After finishing the incantation and activating the spell, people around Saramāju were illuminated as if blessed by the gods—men, women, adults, and children, all ages and genders alike glowed in the light.

“As expected of a nation filled with criminals, Saramāju. That’s a staggering number. It feels like around 130,000. Fewer than I expected, but oh well.”

The Divine Judgment of Creation is a miracle-level light magic spell that is so rare that only a handful of people in this world can utilize it.

The reason lies in the name of the spell: this magic requires a prayer to the Creator God, Raphaelia, to borrow their power to fairly identify and judge sinners from a divine perspective.

In other words, utilizing this magic requires vast magic power, strong faith, and a pure soul enough to petition the gods, and in this world, only the Saintess, the Pope, and a few Cardinals can satisfy those requirements.

“Well, I have no such faith. Gods are trash anyway.”

However, the fact that I even have the audacity to insult them means I should have no chance of using such a spell.

So, why can I use it? The answer is surprisingly simple.

It’s because I know that, despite not having faith, the existence of gods is real.

I had noticed that either a god or something else was involved in my rewinding to life, and since I was interfered with by the goddess Auriennes in this life, I became acutely aware of the existence of deity.

As a result, while I lack faith, my recognition of the real existence of gods has been interpreted as having faith in the divine, allowing me to use the magic.

“Well, basically, it’s just playing with words.”

Now, concerning the effect of the Divine Judgment of Creation I just used, this magic is a bit special as its effects are divided into two stages.

The effect of the first stage of Divine Judgment of Creation is to find sinners by the divine’s just and fair judgment and illuminate them with light.

In doing so, I needed to specify the range and which laws I sought judgment from during the incantation; this was where I mentioned Saramāju and Empire laws.

To summarize, those within Saramāju and who committed crimes defined by the laws of the Ruzenia Empire would be illuminated by the Divine Judgment.

In the second stage, by uttering the phrase ‘the wrath of the judgment god’ while using Divine Judgment of Creation, I could create a great sword of light above the illuminated sinners’ heads and deliver a judgment.

However, since my objective this time is to incapacitate rather than condemn, I would stop the spell at the first stage and proceed to chant the next spell.

“The world cycles. The age of scorching heat ends, the age of grace concludes, and the age of frost arrives. The earth freezes, the seas freeze, and even the air becomes ice. All life comes to a standstill, greeting eternity in an icy world. Now, it is time to sleep. Without resistance, surrender your body to slumber. I, who desires the world of ice. ‘World of Ice Enclosure.'”

The moment I uttered the name of the next spell, the people illuminated by Divine Judgment began to slowly be covered in ice from their feet, transforming into ice statues with screams but unable to move.

“Adjustments on this end are fine too. It was my first time narrowing the targets, but it went smoothly.”

World of Ice Enclosure. This magic unleashes a wave of magic power to freeze everything within its range, but oddly enough, it possesses no direct lethality.

Those covered in ice cannot move at that point, and all bodily functions—organs, breathing, cells, and blood flow—come to a halt.

Under normal circumstances, at that point, all living beings would be dead. But in the case of this spell, they do not die; they simply cease all life activities.

In simpler terms, it’s like putting them on ice while still alive, and once the magic is lifted, they return to their pre-frozen state.

“Yup, it was definitely the right call to use Divine Judgment of Creation first. Without it, everyone would have frozen, leading to a real hassle.”

The original World of Ice Enclosure is an area-of-effect spell, so it wouldn’t be able to freeze just one specific target.

Thus, to get around this flaw, I decided to use Divine Judgment of Creation first to narrow down the targets and freeze only those.

“Alright then. My job here is done for now. I’ll leave the rest to them.”

After using those two grand spells, my magic power was reduced by about 80%, but I had planned to leave the ensuing battle to Sharueina and the others anyway, so it wasn’t a problem.

Then I slowly returned to the ground using flight magic and called out to Sharueina, whose brain was frozen in surprise despite not being under a spell, and we headed toward the royal castle.

“What the…?”

Shudo, still unable to grasp the situation, gazed from a distance as the silver-haired young man descended back to the ground.

“Hey! What happened?!”

“Why is he frozen?!”

“Somebody explain what’s going on!!”

Adventurers, villagers, and slaves that had been running away together just moments before were now frozen in ice, and old men, children, and women of all ages were transformed into ice statues behind the buildings and throughout the streets.

“What the hell is this?!”

“No! This ice doesn’t melt at all!”

Amidst the chaos, there were magic users attempting to melt the ice with fire magic, but it seemed the dimensional level of the spell used was too high; the ice showed no signs of even dripping a drop of water.

“They’ve incurred the wrath of the gods.”

“Is that really…?”

“But it makes sense. No one could do something like this without divine intervention.”

At that moment, as someone voiced this thought, those who remained unscathed began to babble about the anger of the gods, and the forceful energy from before dissipated, with everyone kneeling down to pray.

(This isn’t divine wrath. That’s clearly magic.)

While almost everyone was futilely offering prayers, Shudo, glaring at the direction where Lewis had descended, clenched his fists tightly.

(That gleaming white light that blanketed the sky was definitely magic. I can feel the same magic emanating from the ice statues.)

The moment Lewis released his magic, Shudo sensed that overwhelming magic and immediately stopped in his tracks to look back, where he saw the figure of the young man cloaked in silver magic.

Having witnessed the entire event unfold, Shudo understood that this was the work of a human, not a god, and that understanding fueled his rage against Lewis, who had involved not only the escaping adventurers but also innocent townsfolk in this chaos.

“Lewis Valentine.”

Recalling his earlier encounter with Lewis at the welcome party, Shudo muttered his name with vehemence, gritting his teeth to the point of cracking and then storming off toward the town alone.
