Chapter 229
The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide
Episode 222: Joyful Delight
“Hey! Die, you bastard!”
“It’s your fault we’ve been dragged to this place!”
“What do you mean, it’s not my fault? I know the Guild was involved too!”
As we parted ways with the former knights of Carirro, at the same time, a group of adventurers targeting them gathered, and the group beatdown began.
“Stop, stop! My arm just broke! It must have broken!”
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry! It was my fault! So please, forgive me!!”
“Mngh! Mngh!”
The former knights and guild staff desperately tried to stop them, but the anger of the adventurers who had been brought here seemed unquenchable, and their fists wouldn’t cease.
Adding to the chaos, perhaps due to the stress built up in this place, even unrelated adventurers joined in, continuing the barrage of punches and kicks. Strangely enough, it seemed they weren’t dying.
“It hurts, it hurts, it hurts! Please stop! I was wrong! I’m the one at fault!!”
“I can’t take it anymore! I don’t want to feel pain! I want to die. Let me die… I can’t die…”
“Mngh! Mngh! Mngh!!!”
Gradually, the strength drained from their voices, and perhaps the adventurers finally grew bored; the last one kicked hard and spat, leaving a scene of beaten men, bloodied and tear-streaked, sprawled on the ground.
“Hehe. That was quite a spectacle.”
“I’m glad Miss Luna seemed to enjoy it.”
“I felt a bit refreshed watching it too.”
“You really do some awful things, don’t you?”
As I laughed, filled with satisfaction, Iris and Miria beside me joined in the joyful chuckling while Sharueina looked on, somewhat taken aback.
“Continuously casting recovery magic to make sure they don’t die is just too extreme.”
“Is it? They got to vent their frustrations, so isn’t that good? It’s just karma catching up to them.”
The truth is, the reason they didn’t die despite being beaten was that I had been casting recovery magic at the right times. The adventurers seemed so focused on hitting that they hadn’t noticed, but they had already broken bones all over their bodies and had ruptured organs that were healed almost instantly.
“In this world, not everyone lives from the same position. If some are on top, there are those below them. The ones above look down with superiority, while those below envy those above. Especially in a place where they’re confined, it builds up stress, and they need someone to act as a vent.”
“I get that, but there was no need to go that far…”
“I told you, it’s karma. If they hadn’t kidnapped adventurers and poor people and brought them here, it wouldn’t have turned out like this. In the end, this is a result of their own making, and I just helped everyone get to vent their anger. Anyway, I’m bored now; let’s get out of here. Once is enough for that show.”
Though Sharueina still seemed to struggle with my words, she at least understood the logic and didn’t say anything further, quietly following us as we moved.
By the way, the one who kept saying “Mngh mngh” while being hit was the guy who was the Guild Master at Carirro’s Adventurers’ Guild. He was the first to have his mouth stuffed with something when surrounded by adventurers, not even allowed to speak while being pummeled.
After the somewhat amusing show ended, we moved away from the venue until we arrived in a deserted area.
Then, confirming no one was around by casting recognition-dulling and sound-blocking magic, we held a final check about our future plans.
“Now then. As for what’s next, originally, we planned to observe and gather information for about a week after entering Saramāju.”
“Right. You said you’d collect evidence that the slave traders are connected to this country’s leaders and check whether they are truly preparing for war.”
“But personally, I think there’s no need for that anymore. Right now, adventurers and abducted people are gathered in this underground facility, and I’ve heard from the Dragon Kin Fūshiru that preparations for war are underway. All that’s left is to gather evidence.”
“However, how will we collect that evidence? This is an underground facility, so escaping doesn’t seem easy.”
“That’s a hassle, but I can just zip out using transfer magic. Fūshiru will probably hand over some useful stuff if I threaten him. I’ll also gather various things from the so-called harmless slave guild. If they say there’s no connection, that just complicates things.”
I thoroughly aim to avoid any potential nuisances and give no room for excuses, so even if Saramāju or other countries try to deny connections with slave traders, I won’t allow them a way out.
“But if that’s the case, it’ll just put more burden on Luna-san. Transfer magic consumes a lot of magic power, so it’ll be tough right after that for combat.”
“Ah, that’s why I plan to gather evidence tomorrow and act three days later. If we just stay still for two days without doing anything, my magic will completely recover.”
As Miria pointed out, while my current magic power is quite abundant, if I keep using transfer magic, I’ll run out before I know it, and long-distance transfers can only work one way.
However, with the technique I found at Sonia’s house of intentionally absorbing natural magic into my body and instantly converting it into my magic power, I could recover quickly. Unfortunately, I’m still not fully proficient in that technique, so for now, I can only speed up the recovery time.
“And, the three of you will shine once we leave here, so you’ll recover magic power more slowly than I do. So conserve it this time.”
“Understood.”
“Especially Narshé; you have things you need to do, so save not just magic power but also unnecessary stamina. And you have no extra energy to spare for anything else, right? I’d appreciate it if you stop feeling responsible and regretting this situation. Frankly, it’s bothersome.”
“I’m sorry…”
Given her status as royalty, Sharueina has a strong sense of responsibility, and I understand why she can’t fully grasp this situation.
However, with her having to fight against someone stronger like Rogurando and being gloomy about this situation is honestly just a hindrance.
“I’ll have Narshé reveal her true identity when we leave here and assign her the role of leading those here. So change your mindset quickly.”
“I understand.”
One of our goals in coming here is to create a scapegoat for Saramāju being destroyed for abducting royalty and nobles from other countries, so there’s no need for us to keep hiding our identities until the end.
Thus, when we execute the operation, we’ll all return to our true forms and create a fait accompli of Saramāju capturing an imperial princess and nobles.
After that, I plan to use Sharueina’s royal status to incite the confused adventurers and have her lead the charge.
“And after we all leave here, I plan to use a large-scale spell, so the subsequent combat will mostly be up to the three of you. Is that okay?”
“Yes, no problem.”
“That’s fine.”
“Understood.”
When I use magic, I probably won’t have enough magic left to engage in combat immediately after, so the three of them will need to take the lead in the upcoming fights.
(Well, even if I run out of magic, I still have Fighting Spirit, so it’s not really a problem, but fighting low-level goons is boring.)
While I do enjoy fighting, I’m not insistent on fighting someone at all times, so if I can take it easy, I’ll gladly do so.
That’s why I plan to leave the combat after using magic mainly to the three of them while I recover my magic power and support from the back.
Upon conveying that, Iris and Miria had expressions brimming with eagerness as if they were eager to fulfill expectations, and Sharueina seemed to remember what she needed to do regarding Rogurando, changing to a determined expression.
After that, I dismissed the magic I had cast around us, resting in turns while passing a few hours until night fell, preparing for a night of frantically gathering evidence the next day.
