Chapter 220
The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide
Chapter 213: Just As I Was Taught?
“Hello. How can I help you today?”
“Hi there. We just arrived in this town and we’re looking to take on some requests right away. Is there a bounty for defeating some bandits?”
“A bounty for defeating bandits? I’m sorry, but could I see your guild cards first?”
“Sure.”
Kamael said this and instructed Fiera and the others to show their cards as well. The receptionist began checking each card one by one as they were handed to her.
“Hm. Rafii, Vische, An, Alii, and… Rehamu, is it? …Ah, I see…”
As the receptionist checked Fiera and the others’ cards in order, when she saw Kamael’s card last, her expression turned slightly contemptuous as she grasped his situation.
(Ugh. I want to cry. Why do I have to go through this…)
It seemed that Lewis’s prank had inflicted more damage on Kamael than he expected, and while he silently cried inside, he accepted the returned card and listened to the receptionist explain the bandit elimination request.
“Since there is no problem with your rank, I will discuss the bounty for defeating the bandits. There are currently two bounties available in this town. One is for a group based in a cave near the mountain, and the other is for bandits that attacked a village and have made it their hideout. As of now, adventurers were dispatched to deal with the cave issue, but it ended in failure, and the one in the village is a recent discovery, so we are currently looking for adventurers to take on both jobs.”
“Does ‘looking for’ mean there are a lot of bandits?”
“The scale of both bandit groups is medium-sized, with reports suggesting they have about 15 to 20 members each. Thus, we are issuing this request as a joint bounty for multiple adventurer parties rather than an individual one.”
“I see.”
Small towns and villages close to other nations are easy targets for bandits, and the fact that they are far from the capitals of either country and have a small population makes it a prime gathering spot for bandits.
“Both bounties are currently waiting for one more party to join, so if Rehamu and the others take on one of them, they will need to head to the designated location with the other adventurers.”
“Understood. Then we’ll take both.”
“Eh, both?”
“Yes.”
“But that means one of the requests will be delayed, causing inconvenience to other adventurers taking on the request.”
“Then don’t worry. Lafi and An will head to the village, while Vische, Alii, and I will go to the cave.”
“Okay. Got it.”
“Leave the village to us.”
“Understood.”
“I got it.”
Fiera and the others nodded as if it were a matter of course, but the receptionist, who had been listening nearby, couldn’t help but be shocked.
“E-excuse me, you’re splitting the party?”
“Yes. As they are quite capable, and if there are other adventurers around, it should be fine.”
“B-but I still think it’s risky! Aren’t you worried about your teammates?”
The receptionist shot a look at Kamael that was almost accusatory, but he awkwardly smiled and began to explain.
“Ah, I think there’s some misunderstanding, but I’m not in a relationship with them. Also, while our rank isn’t overly high, our abilities are quite respectable. That can be proven quickly.”
“What do you mean by that…?”
“Hey, bro. We need to talk for a second.”
“See?”
Just as Kamael was trying to clarify, five men who had been nearby approached slowly, wearing sleazy grins filled with ulterior motives.
“What is it?”
“Well, it seems you’ve got some muscle, so how strong are you really?”
“Ha ha. Having such cute girls around must mean you’re pretty strong, huh?”
It was as if the men were drawn to Kamael, who was surrounded by four beautiful girls, like bugs attracted to a flower, unaware that the flower had deadly poison.
“I have a fair amount of confidence, and I believe I’m stronger than you, but let me give you one piece of advice. Don’t touch them so casually.”
“Ha ha! You think you’re stronger than us? And you’re telling us not to touch them?”
“Don’t act all knightly!”
“If you’re that confident, then you should be able to protect your own girls!”
Saying that, the men attempted to reach out to Fiera and the others, but tragically, the outcome was decided in an instant.
The man who tried to touch Fiera got kicked in the temple the moment he reached out, and his head was then bounced up into the guild’s ceiling.
Next, the man who approached Shuvina was kicked down to the ground after attempting to touch her waist, and before he knew it, she had him pinned down, holding an arrow to his eye.
The man who came close to Sonia found himself crushed into the floor by her gravity magic the moment he stepped forward, groaning in pain as he possibly fractured a rib.
Finally, the man who approached Sephiria ended up on his knees, suffering from magical nausea due to her layered healing spells, repeatedly throwing up right there.
“Gross. Don’t touch me.”
“I’m not some cheap girl you can just paw at.”
“There are only certain people allowed to get close enough to touch me. You’re not one of them, so stay back.”
“I’m sorry, but this body is dedicated solely to God and that person. Please refrain from touching me without permission.”
“…Huh?”
The leader of the men stood in stunned silence, unable to comprehend the situation as his companions went down in an instant. It seemed that the other adventurers and guild employees were equally bewildered, as it all happened far too quickly for anyone to grasp what just transpired.
“I told you not to touch them. That wasn’t a warning for me or them; it was a warning for you.”
“T-this is… wait! We didn’t draw our weapons! That means your actions can’t be justified as self-defense! You’re going to pay for this!”
Having regained some composure thanks to Kamael’s words, the leader insisted that they hadn’t drawn their weapons and that the girls’ actions couldn’t be considered self-defense, which led to a sudden change in demeanor from the girls.
“I was scared when that arm reached out. I thought I was going to be hit. So, self-defense.”
“Seeing that arm reaching for my waist, I thought I was going to die. That’s self-defense, right?”
“Did they use some kind of mental magic? As soon as he stepped forward, I felt like I would be crushed. Definitely self-defense.”
“Touching this body that I’ve dedicated to God isn’t something that can be done lightly. Plus, I was scared, so self-defense.”
“But—”
“That ridiculous excuse won’t fly!”
“Then shall we ask the staff? Hey, miss. In this situation, who do you think is at fault?”
“…Huh? Me?”
“Yes.”
The receptionist, who hadn’t expected to be addressed, looked back and forth between the men and Kamael in confusion, but then suddenly recalled what Kamael had said moments before.
“Then, we’ll take both requests.”
Kamael had mentioned earlier that he would take on both bandit elimination requests by splitting their party.
In fact, the request for exterminating the bandits had begun about four days prior. However, a few days had passed without finding the last party member, leading to other parties declining to take on the job.
“Taking into account that your opponents were female and that you made unwarranted advances towards a sister serving God, this will be accepted as self-defense.”
“Wh-what!?”
“However, it must also be recognized that your actions constituted excessive self-defense, so we will not approve compensation claims on either side this time. Additionally, since there was property damage to the Rehamu party, you will need to cover the repair costs for them.”
“Ah, yes. Understood.”
While the men continued to grumble and complain, they quieted down like little puppies when faced with Fiera’s intense murderous intent. After pulling their comrades from the ceiling, they left the guild, tails tucked.
“Rehamu, I understand the abilities of your party now. As an exception, I will allow you to split and take on both requests. I will explain to the others, so please come back here in two days.”
“Got it.”
After that, Kamael paid for the repair costs with the money given to him by Lewis, enduring stomach pains as he left the guild with Fiera and the others, speaking to them with a slightly irritated tone.
“You all went too far.”
“Hm? This is what El taught us, so there’s no problem. Besides, he said to show no mercy to enemies.”
“Right. He would have broken at least an arm.”
“Eh?”
“Actually, the last person who messed with El ended up with an arm chopped off, and their tendons cut in both arms and legs, along with their magic circuits destroyed.”
“What?”
“When it was my turn, he cut off both my legs, immobilized me, then stabbed me with an ice sword and burned me just enough not to die.”
“Are you… serious?”
“Mm. So we’re still being merciful.”
“Right. But Rehamu also often said, didn’t he? That if he’s around, he would say so.”
“Mm. So, we’re just doing as El told us.”
“Taught us.”
“We just did what we had to do.”
(I’m done for. My words just completely backfired.)
Fiera and Shuvina grinned together at the end, resembling Lewis when his pranks succeeded, filling Kamael’s chest with a mysterious sense of defeat and frustration.
The reason Kamael followed Lewis’ instructions was to turn things around in situations like this, and he couldn’t see that he was only being teased by them.
(Just wait until I get home, Lewis. I’ll definitely get back at you.)
Despite having done nothing, Lewis somehow found himself the target of Kamael’s revenge game and would have a busy summer vacation following this operation.
By the way, there was someone else who dealt serious damage to Kamael’s stomach.
That was Sephiria, who he thought was the only one with common sense. After discovering that she could become uncontrollable when angered, Kamael despaired, realizing that he was the only one with common sense in this party.
