Chapter 22
Rozé von Kruger is a 4th-year magic major in the Diamond White Class and the head of the Swimming Club.
Recently, the female students in the Swimming Club, including Rozé, have been grappling with a common issue.
The problem is that the Swimming Club has become overwhelmingly female, to the point of being a no-go zone for boys.
Of course, the Swimming Club wasn’t always like this. Just a few years ago, it was divided into a boys’ and a girls’ Swimming Club, with plenty of male students around.
However, due to a series of unfortunate accidents and incidents, many senior boys left the Swimming Club, and as the number of upperclassmen decreased, existing male students either quit or became ghost members that only had their names on the roster.
As time passed, the boys’ Swimming Club eventually vanished, leaving only the girls’ Swimming Club, which gradually came to be known simply as the Swimming Club.
At that point, the female students in the Swimming Club thought nothing of it.
The dissolution of the boys’ Swimming Club was unfortunate, but some students actually preferred it since it allowed more space in the pool, and they figured new male students would eventually join anyway.
They believed things would return to normal soon enough. But that was a colossal misconception.
The few boys who came to swim felt uneasy in an environment filled with girls and chose to leave, and those who wanted to join the Swimming Club mostly had impure intentions, more interested in the female students’ bodies than swimming.
While there had been some newcomers with impure motives even when the boys’ Swimming Club existed, those cases would be dealt with internally, so it was never a concern until now.
But now, the head of the female club had to worry about such newcomers, making management even more challenging, and ultimately, they felt compelled to turn them all away due to fears of adversely affecting the existing Swimming Club.
Adding insult to injury, following a rumor that the Swimming Club was made up entirely of girls, a pervert had even broken into the changing room and stolen swimsuits, which transformed the Swimming Club building into a complete no-go zone for guys.
Human feelings can be quite fickle; people often take things for granted when they’re available but feel disappointed once they’re gone. In the case of the Swimming Club, it was the presence of boys that was sorely missed.
Thus, when a rare male, and a handsome one at that, appeared, the eyes of the female students in the Swimming Club sparkled.
“Hurry, hurry! I’m serious, this is not a joke!”
“No, how handsome could he possibly be…?”
“I’m telling you, he’s not just handsome, he’s ridiculously good-looking! He looks like a sculpture; he has a face the size of a fist, with eyes, nose, and mouth perfectly proportioned…”
“Okay, okay, I get it! I’m on my way!”
Rozé was unable to resist the urgings of her junior, Dorothy, a 3rd-year student and a likely candidate for the next club president, as she darted from the office toward the main pool.
To be honest, she was curious to see what all the fuss was about given they described him as handsome, but Rozé didn’t have high expectations. The female students’ thirst for male companionship wasn’t a new phenomenon.
Over time, their standards had lowered significantly, to the point where they were settling for anyone with a face, as long as they bubbled over with charm.
However, being of noble birth, Rozé had mingled in high society recently and had even seen the legendary hero and the first prince of the Empire in person at a ball. Therefore, her standards for men weren’t as low as her club members’ might suggest.
So, she approached with a hint of skepticism.
Upon arriving at the main pool, she found a man surrounded by the female students of the Swimming Club, and upon seeing his face, her jaw dropped in shock.
“Wow, no way….”
She was so stunned that she unintentionally uttered a rather unladylike exclamation.
Was this the feeling of having one’s eyes opened? Throughout her life, Rozé had met many so-called handsome men, but she was certain that no one would capture attention like the man before her.
Was it his looks? Of course, he was good-looking, but handsomeness isn’t determined solely by facial features. No matter how good-looking someone is, everyone has flaws: maybe they’re a bit short, have narrow shoulders, or a big head.
In that regard, the man before her was flawless. He was tall with broad shoulders, eyebrows that looked painted on, a straight nose, a sculpted jawline, and a deep gaze that stirred the hearts of women… overall, every proportion was perfect. There was not a single bit that felt lacking from any angle.
Certainly, there may be men more handsome than him, but Rozé thought that there likely wouldn’t be anyone as close to perfection as this one.
“How do you like it? Am I right?”
“…….”
“Hey, big sister?”
“…Huh? Ah! Ahem! Y-yeah… he’s kind of handsome.”
Stunned as she was, Rozé reminded herself that she was the club president. She couldn’t display such childish behavior in front of her members.
Maintaining her composure, she fixed her hair and dusted off her uniform, thinking, ‘This should be good enough,’ as she confidently approached the man among the members with the dignified gait she had learned in high society.
“Excuse me, are you here to be the advisor for the Swimming Club?”
The man, previously showing a troubled expression amidst the chattering girls, shifted his gaze to Rozé.
He politely extended his hand as if inviting her to shake.
“I’m Ion Graham, the advisor for Opal Black.”
As Rozé took his hand, she noted the well-defined muscles in his arm.
‘If he takes off his shirt, he’ll be really ripped….’
“I’m Rozé von Kruger, president of the Swimming Club. It’s an honor to meet the famous advisor, Ion Graham.”
“Actually, I didn’t come to be an advisor today. I’d like to observe the club; is that okay? If it’s uncomfortable, I can leave.”
“Huh? Observing the club? That’s not what I expected.”
Rozé glanced at Dorothy with a confused look, and she quickly pieced together the situation from the desperate looks of her club members behind Ion.
Ah, they wanted me to keep him here? I see….
A silent agreement passed between the president and her members, and Rozé nodded, saying, “Uncomfortable? Not at all. If it’s just observing, that’s no trouble. I can get you a swimsuit, so could you change inside?”
“Do I have to change too?”
“Well, if you’re observing the Swimming Club, I think it’d be quicker to experience it firsthand. You’ll learn things better directly through practice.”
“I see. Then I’ll do that.”
Fortunately, there were some male swimsuits left behind by previous members. When Ion received the swimsuit and entered the male changing room, the members quietly erupted in cheers.
“President, nice one!”
“Sister! You’re the best!”
“Whoa… it’s not that! I was just thinking rationally as the head of the club to give Ion a more in-depth understanding of what the Swimming Club is like.”
“What does the reason matter? The outcome is what counts.”
The members all eyed the entrance to the male changing room like hungry predators watching their prey.
Let me reiterate, the Swimming Club wasn’t always like this. Until a few years ago, it was a pretty normal club.
They weren’t competing in any tournaments, so the purpose of the club was solely a hobby. Some female students loved swimming purely for fun, while many were there to improve their fitness and maintain their physique.
But.
But, how can people always remain purely innocent?
It’s only natural for a girl, or really for anyone, to dream of a sweet romance with a handsome senior or a cute junior they accidentally meet in a club they joined without ulterior motives.
The same went for the members of the Swimming Club. Regardless of their initial enthusiasm for swimming, having a good-looking male advisor teach them directly would be much more enjoyable.
No one in the club could imagine learning to swim from an attractive senior or having one teach them one-on-one.
There’s a big difference between not dating and not being able to date. Since they had given up hope entirely, the female students of the Swimming Club became utterly starving for male attention.
Just then, the male changing room door swung open.
All members’ gazes turned in unison toward the entrance of the changing room, and naturally, awe spilled forth as if they were witnessing a sculpture in an art gallery.
“Gasp….”
“Oh my.”
“Wow, this is insane….”
Just as Rozé had imagined, under Ion’s dry, handsome face was a body packed with taut muscles, free of any excess fat.
His strong collarbone and broad, firm chest, along with the chiseled definition of his abs… compared to the overly muscular combat major students who bulked up unnecessarily, Ion’s physique was a testament to practical conditioning.
His body bore long, deep scars that accentuated his masculinity even more.
Ion seemed awkward in this outfit, visibly stiff as he revealed his body for the first time.
“I’ve put it on, but if the scars look unsightly….”
“No, not at all. They don’t look bad at all.”
It actually made him look better.
It was the common thought that emerged in the minds of all the members.
Just then, one of the members approached Rozé and spoke cautiously.
“Um, President.”
“Yeah? What is it?”
“A guest is here to see you, and I think you should go check….”
“What? Now of all times? Just when it’s good?”
Rozé’s beautiful face contorted in frustration. But, oddly enough, as the president, she couldn’t ignore a visitor to the Swimming Club.
She turned away from Ion and left the main pool. While she silently cursed a myriad of profanities in her mind toward the unexpected guest, she maintained a perfectly composed expression befitting her noble status as she opened the entrance door.
There stood a middle-aged man with a face seemingly smeared with butter.
“Oh! You finally arrived! Haha! What a coincidence—I’m also a Diamond White student! I’m Sillon von Acheron, the advisor for the first-year Diamond White class. I heard you need a new advisor for the Swimming Club—”
“I’m sorry, but we just got one.”
Rozé quickly shut the door.
Acheron rushed to catch it, panic written all over his face.
“What are you doing? You’ll hurt your hand!”
“No, what do you mean? I absolutely heard that the Swimming Club didn’t have an advisor as of just now—”
“Actually, it was just settled. So please leave now. I’m sorry.”
“Wait, wait a minute—!”
Bam!
Rozé locked the door.
“Ugh….”
What was with that pig…?
I’ve just seen something I shouldn’t have. I need to cleanse my eyes quickly.
When Rozé returned to the main pool, only a moment had passed, but other female students who had changed into their swimsuits were already clinging to Ion’s arms.
“Hey, Ion, are you good at swimming?”
“Just the basics.”
“Wow! That’s amazing! I haven’t even got the basics down yet. If… if it’s alright, could you teach me step by step?”
“It’s not difficult. But, um, this feels a bit too close.”
“Oh dear, I just want to be near my instructor!”
Rozé felt her neck twitch in annoyance at the sight.
Dorothy! You’re completely like a fish out of water right now!
As the next president, how could you be this ridiculous?
“Hey! Stop fooling around… Ah!?”
Just as Rozé was about to reach Ion, her foot slipped into a puddle and she fell in an instant.
Splash!
“Ugh…!?”
Rozé realized she had fallen into the water.
But it wasn’t a huge deal. Sure, it was a bit embarrassing to fall into the pool in front of the instructor when I’m the president of the Swimming Club, but all she had to do was swim back to the surface.
Even feeling embarrassed, she started to swim to get out, but suddenly, a sharp cramp grabbed her thigh, rendering her immobile.
“Ow! A cramp, of all times…!”
Having jumped in without any warm-up, her muscles were thrown into shock. Remaining calm, she bent her big toe back forcefully for emergency relief. This usually worked to stop leg cramps. All she needed to do was wait a bit.
But when waiting a moment becomes a problem, oxygen was running low. Not having time to breathe because of her sudden fall, Rozé grasped her cramping leg as she sank lower.
“I can’t breathe…!”
As she started to panic, wondering if something terrible was about to happen.
Someone grabbed Rozé’s arm and yanked her up to the surface in an instant.
“Phew! Cough, cough! Hah….”
She almost thought she was going to pass out. Who saved me?
To thank her rescuer, Rozé lifted her head and found Ion looking down at her.
Water trickled down his soaked hair and ran along his jawline, revealing his deep golden eyes.
At that moment, she felt her breath hitch for an entirely different reason.
“Are you okay?”
“Ah, um, yeah… I’m fine….”
In that instant, Rozé realized for the first time in her life just how sexy a man could look when soaked in water.
