Chapter 219
After meeting Tenshi, I went straight to Tenshi’s House to unpack my things.
Originally, I truly intended to book a hotel this time, but since we were going to collaborate anyway, Tenshi enthusiastically suggested that I stay at her house.
It was a proposal that was both apologetic and appreciated, so I politely declined twice before accepting.
I mean, it’s beneficial for me to save money and not have to travel extra.
“Shall we go out then?”
“Yes.”
With that, I unpacked and stepped back outside, feeling somewhat lighter.
Though I had come to Japan for the collaboration, it was still early afternoon.
There was plenty of time left before the collaboration, so I thought I would take this floating time and go have some fun.
Unlike me, who would just turn on my broadcast whenever I wanted, Tenshi would reserve her broadcast several hours in advance and then start it.
I heard it was a company policy or something like that?
Since we’re in a different country, it’s no surprise that even among VTubers, the styles can differ.
“By the way, Soo-hyun, what’s that?”
“Oh, I’m just going to film a vlog.”
On our way to the restaurant that Tenshi had reserved in advance, I pulled out the selfie stick I had brought with me and extended it.
I had purchased one before coming to Japan.
I planned to shoot some videos during my trip to post on YouTube.
The truth is, YouTube isn’t really my domain, so I asked my manager beforehand, and he immediately gave me the green light.
He said it was a good idea and urged me to go for it while I could still picture my manager all excited.
“Isn’t it bad if your face shows up?”
“Right? But it’s okay for the scenery.”
It’s a bit ironic that I’m told not to take selfies with the selfie stick.
But filming with my phone like this made me feel like a tourist, which was nice.
“Um… people around are looking at us?”
“Ah, really?”
At that moment, Tenshi looked slightly embarrassed and asked as I glanced around.
There were gazes directed our way.
I usually feel people looking at me, so I hadn’t noticed, but does the selfie stick attract attention?
Wearing my invincible sunglasses, I didn’t mind too much, but since Tenshi looked shy, I quietly tucked the selfie stick away.
“Is it okay not to film?”
“This is enough for the way there.”
Well, I could just film again while we ate later.
“By the way, what’s for lunch today?”
“Gyukatsu!”
Hearing “gyukatsu,” I made a small thumbs-up with my hand.
Of course, if I’m in Japan, I need to start with Japanese food.
I hadn’t tried it before, only heard the name, but I wonder how it tastes?
I’m looking forward to it.
When we arrived at the shop, there was a slight line, so we stood at the back.
Even though it was a bit of an awkward time past lunch hour, the line suggested the place might be quite famous.
“I’m excited.”
“It’s really delicious here!”
I didn’t usually prefer standing in line, but since it wasn’t that long, I happily waited with anticipation.
After a short wait, we finally got a table, and I sat down at the restaurant.
“Just a moment.”
Now that we were here, I casually took out my phone to film again.
I wondered if it was rude to film while just the two of us were here, but…
“Vlog.”
Seeing Tenshi wave her hand in front of the rear camera, thankfully it seemed like she wasn’t bothered at all.
“Is it okay to be filming like this?”
“As long as it’s just your hand, it’s fine!”
Then she showed me her hand, and I nodded in agreement.
Well, I had already shown my hand on my own broadcast, didn’t I?
And… it’s a bit weird to think this way, but if you search online, you’ll find actual photos of Tenshi.
Fortunately, I’m just like her—a case where photos have already spread all over the internet.
So a worst-case scenario where some secret medley accidentally gets revealed doesn’t need to happen, right?
Anyway, as I filmed while waiting, delicious-looking food started to arrive at our table.
As I caught a glimpse of the mouth-watering gyukatsu and small furnace, Tenshi began to teach me how to eat it.
“Alright, here’s how you eat it.”
Hearing things that one might expect the staff to tell us from Tenshi, I followed along and truly, the flavor justified the wait in line.
“Is it tasty?”
“Right? I love it!”
Well, could beef ever be tasteless? Still, delicious is delicious.
We happily started our meal.
“Oh, by the way.”
“What?”
While eating, something came to mind—I had one thing to do while in Japan.
“I need to give a gift to Sake.”
“A gift?”
“Yeah, I brought that autograph I mentioned before.”
“Eh?”
Tenshi had visited my house previously and saw the autograph, so she instantly grasped what I meant.
“Is that okay?”
“Huh?”
Couldn’t I just give it to her when I met her?
Wondering why Tenshi looked confused, I found myself tilting my head as she seemed to question me instead.
“You have to go all the way to Tokyo, you know?”
“Ah.”
Now that I think about it, we were in Osaka.
I had lumped Japan together in my mind, but the distance from Tokyo to Osaka is farther than from Seoul to Busan.
Realizing anew just how big Japan is, I hesitated for a moment.
“Um… how long do you think it’ll take?”
Since Tenshi’s headquarters is in Tokyo, she should have some experience with round trips, right?
So I asked, hoping for a bit of insight, and she confidently listed two examples.
“If you take a plane, about an hour? If it’s by Shinkansen, it takes around 2 hours.”
“Hmm…”
That means a round trip would be 2 hours by plane and about 4 hours by Shinkansen?
Of course, this purely considers travel time, but if you factor in getting to the airport and meeting Sake, it’s pretty much like using up an entire day.
So…
“Okay, I give up.”
I decisively abandoned the thought.
I could give her the autograph later, right?
“Still, just in case, should I say Soo-hyun brought a present?”
“Can you tell her that? Let her know she can look forward to it.”
I could give it in person, but if it doesn’t work out, I could leave it at Tenshi’s House and maybe Sake could pick it up later.
After finishing our late lunch and returning home, there was still some time before the broadcast, but Tenshi busily checked her setup.
Contrary to her usual image of being somewhat carefree, she meticulously rebooted her games or programs to make sure everything was working properly in preparation for any potential streaming incidents, truly looking like a professional.
“Alright, then let’s get this broadcast started!”
“Um, but…”
“Yes?”
“What are we doing today?”
I had seen bits and pieces of other activities, but I actually hadn’t heard what today’s collaboration would entail, so I asked.
“Eh? Did I not say?”
“No.”
“Really?”
“I honestly have no clue.”
“Eh….”
Did she really forget to mention it?
She seemed to chatter a lot while we were eating, but it appeared she had overlooked telling me something important.
“It’s nothing major, so it’ll be fine! Let me explain briefly…”
What I briefly heard about the collaboration certainly sounded pretty straightforward.
Just do this and that, that sort of level.
But…
“There’s even a second part?”
“Yes… I’ve scheduled two broadcasts!”
Unlike us, who stream for quite a while whenever we go live, Tenshi’s style differed in that she had two meetings lined up on the same day.
It looks like she’s doing two shorter streams with a break in between.
Anyway, I sat down in front of Tenshi’s computer to get ready.
“Um, I’ll display Miro’s character here.”
Now addressing me as Miro rather than Soo-hyun since we were in front of the camera, Tenshi brought up the picture of Miro’s character I had provided her, and her own character was also shown next to it as part of the setup.
As we completed the initial preparations, a hint of tension swept through the air.
It was about to start, right?
I momentarily regained my composure as I saw the number of Tenshi’s YouTube subscribers along with the waiting viewers, then soon after, a few clicks on the mouse, and the broadcast began.
A brief waiting screen appeared, followed by some cute music, and then the image transitioned as the live stream went online.
“Ah! Kon Tenshi….”
I watched Tenshi energetically deliver her introductory speech first.
As she introduced herself in fluent Japanese and explained things, the chat was buzzing wildly.
Although most of it was in Japanese, which I couldn’t comprehend…
-Miro’s here?
-Taking a seat lol
The occasional Korean comments were more readable to me.
They probably seemed to be my viewers who had come to watch, given that I had posted announcements before the stream.
Feeling a bit anxious about my viewers being present, I hoped they wouldn’t catcall or anything strange.
“Alright, now Miro will say hello!”
“Um….”
Sitting there blankly and looking at the chat, it was soon my turn to greet them.
“I’ll say it casually, and I’ll translate for the viewers!”
“Really?”
“Yep!”
In truth, before coming here, I had studied Japanese with a bit of effort and could manage a simple self-introduction.
However, I figured it might be more fun to have Tenshi translate my words.
“Then please translate verbatim.”
“Got it.”
“Do you really have to repeat it exactly?”
“W-What did you prepare to say…?”
I already had my greeting scripted while I was on the flight here.
Considering that Japanese viewers might not know me well, I thought it would be better to leave a strong impression from the start.
“Ah.”
I owe a lot to Tenshi.
So I plan to showcase my talents properly in this collaboration to make a lasting impression.
“I’m Miro, the strongest VTuber in Korea.”
Who am I, you ask?
I am Miro, the ultimate entertainer of the Celestial Realm.
Let’s show these Japanese listeners just what the king of Korea is all about…
“Miro, are you crazy?”
“…Translate quickly!”
And so, the collaboration in Japan began.
