Chapter 208

The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide

Chapter 201: The Night Doesn’t End

When I returned to the inn via teleportation magic from the Adventurers’ Guild, there were Sharueina, who had been waiting for us, the beastman male saved by Iris, and Miria attending to him.

“Welcome back, Luna. And good job, Lily.”

“I’m home.”

“Thank you, Narsh. ”

As expected of Miria, she was attending to the beastman with a practiced hand, and besides his missing ear and fingers, his wounds were already closed, possibly thanks to some healing potion.

As for Sharueina, after the battle with Fūshiru, she had lifted the mirror butterfly, so she was still unaware of my torture and Rogurando’s situation, maintaining her usual demeanor while keeping a lookout around us.

“So, what happened with the Dragon Kin?”

“That was settled with a discussion. They should be acting according to my instructions now.”

“The idea of giving instructions to the Dragon Kin—should I praise that or deny it’s possible? No, given the battle I just witnessed, maybe I should praise it.”

“There’s nothing praiseworthy about it. That guy was weak.”

“Haha. You’ve really gotten stronger, haven’t you?”

Sharueina chuckled with a hint of disbelief and then sat on the bed, leaving the vigilance around to me.

“Well, I’d like to let him rest, but I want to confirm some necessary details. I think both Luna and Lily are tired, but it’s better to share information sooner rather than later. The guild or clan might spring into action as soon as tomorrow.”

“I don’t mind. Just let’s wrap it up quickly since I’m sleepy. Yawn~”

“I’m fine too. Luna-san did most of the fighting, after all.”

“Thanks. How about Mīze and that man? Especially you, since you must be suffering due to your imprisonment and torture, your cooperation would really help.”

“No problem at all.”

“I agree with that opinion too. So please continue speaking without worrying about me.”

With Miria and the beastman having agreed, Sharueina instructed me to cast soundproofing magic to keep our conversation from leaking outside. Once she confirmed the magic was in place, she began to speak.

“First, may I ask your name? I saw the magic when Lily helped you, but I couldn’t catch any sounds. Could you tell me your name and why you were there?”

“Of course. My name is Ronī, and I was the vice guildmaster at the Carirro Adventurers’ Guild. However, about two weeks ago, I was caught trying to send evidence I secretly gathered about the guild master, the Poison Snake’s claws, and the knights’ misdeeds in this town to the guild in the imperial capital. Fortunately, I managed to hide the evidence before being captured, but I couldn’t escape, and after that, I was tortured in that dungeon regarding the whereabouts of the evidence.”

“I see. Any companions?”

“There were a few guild members, but I don’t know what happened to them after I was imprisoned.”

“Hmm.”

After hearing Ronī’s story, Sharueina drummed her fingers on the table while she thought for a moment, then turned her gaze to me.

“Luna.”

“Yeah?”

“Sorry to interrupt your sleepy self, but I figured you’ve already set things in motion. How’s it looking on your end?”

“Ah, let me check, just wait a moment.”

Saying that, I widened the range of my detection magic and sensed two groups headed toward this town from the capital, Vilaunt, and the imperial capital, Palamitia.

“At this pace, we’ll have reinforcements in two days, and Narsh’s side will take three days.”

“Two days and three days, huh? Lily, why did the Dragon Kin show up there?”

“They said they came to pick up Ronī. I suspect there was some sort of deal between the guild master and the Dragon Kin.”

“So, if Ronī disappears, the guild master wouldn’t think anything of it. Mīze, how much time do you think you can buy?”

“At most, two days. We’ve already been deemed their enemies, so no matter how we try to disguise things to make it look like multiple people are involved, if they pin it on us, it’s meaningless.”

“I see.”

After listening to our reports, Sharueina showed a contemplative expression, and Ronī, who was struggling to keep up with the conversation, raised his hand slightly.

“Um, excuse me. I’m having a hard time following everyone’s conversation…”

“Oh, right. We haven’t explained who we are yet. First off, we’re adventurers. Since it’s too late to mention our names, let’s just say we came to this town after being invited by the Poison Snake’s claws in another town.”

“Huh? Then…”

“No. Please don’t think what you might be thinking. We declined on the spot… or rather, it turned into a fight instead. Then our leader seemed to want to wipe them out, so we got invited to this town.”

“I see. So that’s how it was.”

“We split up to act, but I had Mīze reduce the number of Poison Snake members, and I sent Lily to infiltrate and gather proof that the guild and clan were interconnected.”

“I understand the situation. What about the timeframe that Luna mentioned?”

“It might be quicker if Luna explains that herself.”

“Simply put, it’s the time until the knights and replacement guild members arrive. We already knew the knights were in league with the clan, and we found out the guild was connected when we visited this morning. So, when I accepted a request and went to the nearby forest, I sent a magic letter detailing the situation in this town to the knights of the Valentine Duchy and the guild in the imperial capital, asking for extra personnel to be sent.”

When the Poison Snake folks came to Rumalunya, they mentioned they would discuss things with the knights.

So it was clear they had connections, and when I saw the guild staff’s reaction this morning, it became evident the guild was also in league with the Poison Snake.

Since Carirro was under the jurisdiction of the House of Valentine, I had sent a magic letter to my father regarding the situation in this town and the knights, and I had reported to Shāra, who organized the guilds in the Empire, requesting to arrange replacements.

“Anyway, with the proof you gathered, we can handle everything on our end. It would be safer to keep the evidence with us, so let’s go get it tomorrow. Mīze, I’d like you to accompany us, if that’s alright. It would be too conspicuous if we all go together.”

“Understood.”

“Thanks. Well then, let’s wrap up our discussion and get some rest. Luna, I’m sorry to have kept you waiting.”

“That’s fine, but there’s something I need to discuss as well…”

“Mīze, Ronī, let’s go to the next room.”

As I said this and glanced slightly at Iris, she immediately understood what I wanted to convey and ushered Miria and Ronī out of the room.

Confirming this, I layered soundproofing magic, even casting barrier magic and information concealment magic, to ensure nothing leaked outside.

“Well, since we’re out now, this must be related to me, given that you invoked those two.”

“That’s right. What I’m about to discuss is important for not just Narsh, but for Sharueina Rūzelia.”

“………Understood.”

Since I called Sharueina by her full name, she seemed to comprehend the weight of the matter, nodding more seriously than before.

“So, what’s the discussion about?”

“Hmm, I’m not sure how to put this, but since neither of us likes beating around the bush, let’s get straight to the point. Your uncle, Rogurando Rūzelia, is alive.”

And thus, despite feeling this was a troublesome role, I shared the information I obtained from Fūshiru, a Dragon Kin, as the long night continued without signs of ending.
