Chapter 200
The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide
Chapter 193: First Quest
We entered the Adventurers’ Guild, but the noise that could be heard outside had vanished, leaving only a bunch of piercing stares directed at us.
“Wow, I feel like we’re under some intense scrutiny.”
“Yeah, this seems to be the usual, doesn’t it?”
“Yep. But… the most attention seems to be on…”
As Iris and the others glanced back at me, standing at the end of the line, they nodded to each other with understanding.
“What’s going on?”
The three suddenly looked my way, but I could only tilt my head in confusion, unsure of why they were staring.
“I don’t know what you want to say, but let’s check the quest board for now.”
I said that and headed toward the quest board crowded with adventurers. Strangely enough, adventurers in front parted to create a path for us.
I wasn’t sure why, but honestly, I didn’t want to wait, so we walked through without holding back.
“Wow, this is amazing!”
“Seriously. To make way just because of her beauty… I feel like I’ve lost as a woman.”
“There’s nothing we can do; it’s Luna after all.”
While the three talked behind me, I ignored them and scanned the quest details posted on the board, picking out a few suitable ones.
“Have you decided?”
“Yup. I’ll take on the B Rank Tiger Bear and Ogre, and also a quest to defeat a C Rank Goblin swarm. These three.”
The monster I chose was the Tiger Bear, which has a bear’s body and a tiger’s head. It’s known for its ferocious temperament and attacks with claws while standing upright like a bear, making it unpredictable. Regular adventurers would struggle against this beast.
The Ogre is another troublesome monster I fought previously, resembling a demon with a club and a muscular, tough body, which makes it a formidable enemy that multiple adventurers of the same rank usually confront.
Then there’s the Goblin swarm. Generally, Goblins are seen as weak monsters, but their reproduction rate is incredible. If their numbers grow too large, the difficulty of extermination quests rises accordingly.
In the case of this C Rank quest, it’s typically issued for swarms of about 50 regular Goblins, but this quest was a bit different.
The quest I picked up stated that while the number of Goblins in the swarm was around 30, which is less than standard, a Goblin Shaman—an elevated species above regular Goblins—has been confirmed.
Goblin Shamans use a form of sorcery that differs from magic, akin to support magic for humans, raising the physical abilities and intelligence of their allies by offering prayers—a very troublesome creature.
Thus, even with fewer numbers, if a single Goblin’s abilities are enhanced, it becomes a significant threat, which is why the quest is rated higher in difficulty.
“An Ogre, huh?”
“Speaking of which, Lily was once attacked by a group of Ogres, right?”
“Yeah. Luna and the others came to help me back then. What a nostalgia!”
Iris laughed cheerfully and thanked me for that time once again.
“Don’t worry about it. It just happened that the quest I took at the time was for Ogre extermination; I had no intention of helping you.”
“Hehe. Still, I was really happy that you helped me. You were truly wonderful back then, Luna. I could hardly contain my heart’s fluttering. Even now, remembering it makes me so excited. I was a bit sad that you got away afterward, but just the fact that you helped me made me so happy. I really…”
“Y-yeah, that’s enough.”
Remembering that time, Iris began to ramble excitedly about her feelings for me, and sensing it might never end, I had to cut her off gently.
“Hey, both of you. Let’s stop dawdling and go accept the quests already. People are staring at us.”
As Sharueina pointed it out, I looked around and saw adventurers who had parted ways were now looking curiously at us. The guys who met my gaze turned beet red and quickly looked away.
“Luna, it’s best if you avoid making eye contact with people. It might give them the wrong idea.”
“What are you saying? Anyway, let’s move as Narche suggested. Just sitting here is wasting time.”
The summer break is set for two months to accommodate students from afar, but it’s only two months, so the quicker we act, the better. It’s more beneficial to complete as many quests as we can instead of wasting time with idle chatter.
Then, walking boldly through the path created by the crowd, just like we had when we arrived, we approached the reception and were assisted by a female clerk to accept three quests.
“Mize! Goblins are coming from the right! Divert their attention over there!”
“Understood!”
“Narche, handle the Goblin Shaman hiding in the back! I’ll immobilize the Goblins on the left and front, so just rush through!”
“Got it!”
“Luna, please prepare a platform in the air so Narche can reach the Goblin Shaman.”
“Roger!”
We were currently located in a forest area a bit away from the town of Rumalunia, focusing on finishing the Tiger Bear and Ogre extermination quests before tackling the last quest—to exterminate the Goblins.
Iris was giving orders today, as soon as we entered the forest, she asked to take the lead.
I was glad I could take it easy, and it made sense for Iris, who primarily uses magic, to direct from the back, so I agreed without hesitation.
At first, she struggled a bit with timing her commands and her positioning, but she’s naturally smart and has good judgement, so she adjusted well and gave precise directives against the Goblin swarm.
Now, according to her orders, Miria skillfully had the Goblins smell the sleep potion she mixed while using wind magic, Iris created barriers using water magic to halt the movements of the Goblins on the left and front, and I made platforms overhead using ice magic.
While jumping gracefully on the platforms, Sharueina dashed towards the encircled Goblin Shaman while being protected by other Goblins from behind. She placed a hand on the sword hanging at her waist and channeled her magic into it.
“Gya gya gya!!”
“Gyuahh!”
“Draw Technique, Third Form: Ice Blossom Rain!”
Kicking off the last platform, Sharueina slashed repeatedly at the Goblins shrieking their disgusting sounds with her drawn sword.
The Goblins, sliced by the frosty blade, shattered into chunks of meat, falling to the ground in a frosty mess.
“Now! Mize, clean up the rest!”
Iris quickly seized the opportunity, seeing that the other Goblins’ power had weakened with the Goblin Shaman’s demise, and instructed Miria to finish them off.
Hearing Iris’s command, Miria switched the potion from a sleep drug to a poison and proceeded to have the Goblins smell it using wind magic, just as before.
As a result, the Goblins struggled, scratching their throats with their sharp claws and foaming purple bubbles before falling one after the other.
Iris also produced several swords with water magic, striking down each Goblin without missing, pinning dozens to the ground.
“This should be the end.”
“Great job everyone!”
“Lily, your direction was excellent. Targeting the Goblin Shaman first was a smart move.”
“Thank you, Narche. You two were amazing as well. I appreciate you following my lead. And Luna, your support was very helpful.”
“Nah, it’s all good. I didn’t do anything until now, so this much is nothing.”
“Even so, it was a great help. Well then, Luna, what are the points for improvement?”
After each battle, Iris would ask me for feedback on what could be improved, and Miria and Sharueina were the same, seemingly driven by a strong desire to improve.
“Well, this time, Lily’s commands were good, and Mize’s choice of potion was also not bad. If you had used poison from the start, even with the Shaman in the back, the other Goblins might have fled upon seeing it. So it was wise to use the sleep potion to induce carelessness, and Lily preparing a spell to prevent them from escaping was excellent as well. However… Narche.”
“What is it?”
“It’s good that you took out the Shamans, but you shouldn’t have smashed them to bits. We can’t collect the parts for quest proof, you know?”
“Ah…”
“This isn’t a dungeon; magical creatures don’t vanish naturally, and we don’t automatically get magical stones or items. It was fortunate this time that we didn’t cut the magical stones, but if we had lost them, the quest would have been a failure.”
“That was a blind spot. Sorry, I’ll be more careful next time.”
“Please do.”
Sharueina is exceptionally skilled, but since she had only ever ventured into dungeons at the academy, she lacked experience in battling wild monsters. She didn’t grasp the basics of securing quest proof parts, properly dismantling monsters, or obtaining magical stones.
That’s why she had ended up destroying the Goblins before we could dismantle them, and without magical stones, we could have jeopardized the success of the quest.
After checking a few minor details, we finally put the Goblin ears and magical stones we collected into a bag and headed back to the guild.
