Chapter 193

The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide

Chapter 186: Allure

“I won.”

“I really won, huh?”

“Yes, we did win!”

After Sonia’s match ended, Fiera, Shuvina, and Sephiria whispered in sequence, their tones tinged with a hint of surprise.

“Interesting, isn’t she? Princess Sharueina isn’t weak by any means; in fact, she could be said to be the strongest in this academy. To defeat her with that kind of magic… it must have been quite entertaining, right? What do you think, Lewis-kun?”

“Ha… heh… yeah, it was truly entertaining…”

Could I have imagined that Sonia would use such magic and defeat Sharueina by imitating me?

Not at all; it was completely unexpected.

“It’s so interesting… I want to fight her right now…”

What would happen if I battled myself? Would both of us die? Or would only one of us perish depending on the fighting style? I don’t know. That’s why I want to try it. Even if I were to get killed, I want to fight myself.

Those feelings overflowed, and I couldn’t help but chuckle.

“Wow, that’s intense.”

“El, that face isn’t good.”

“The allure is something else, huh?”

“Should we cast a barrier magic?”

Although Fiera and the others were saying something, I couldn’t care less and focused solely on the moment when Sonia was fighting while imitating me.

(Could I have Sonia imitate my current self and use a magical tool to suppress my powers? Ah, that sounds good. I wonder if she’d do it if I asked her. If she dies, Sephiria could bring her back, and if I die, well, that’d be the end of it. It’s just about me losing to myself, so there’s nothing to worry about. I really want to do it.)

“El, snap out of it!”

“Huh…?”

As I contemplated how to get Sonia to imitate me right now, I felt a fist coming at my face from the side, so I barely leaned back to dodge it.

“I told you not to aim for the face.”

“Are you awake now?”

“Awake? What are you talking about?”

“Being so oblivious is quite something.”

“You had a really strange expression just now, you know?”

“A strange expression?”

“It wasn’t a face you’d want to show to others. Look around you for proof.”

At Sephiria’s words, I looked around and saw that, for some reason, the female students were blushing while looking our way, and even the male students who made eye contact hastily turned their gazes away.

“What’s with that reaction?”

“Everyone’s been caught off guard by El’s allure.”

“Huh?”

“You can’t make that face anymore. Don’t show it to anyone else but me.”

“I don’t get it.”

“Just promise me, will you?”

I had no idea what Fiera was talking about, but since Shuvina and Sephiria nodded along, I decided to just go along with whatever.

“I don’t really understand, but I’ll comply because it sounds like a hassle.”

“Right. Do that.”

When I signaled that I would follow Fiera’s request, she happily wagged her tail and shot a light glare at the female students still watching us.

With that, the girls shifted their gazes back to the stage, and Fiera once again snuggled up to me while wagging her tail.

“So? What were you thinking earlier?”

Ignoring Fiera as if it were the norm, Shuvina asked what I was contemplating.

“I wanted to see who’d win if I had Sonia imitate me using that magic. But thinking it over, with her current skills, I’d probably win, so I dropped it.”

“Is that so?”

“Yeah. That magic did indeed mimic my movements, but they’re too simple. Most likely, Sonia is only mimicking the me she knows, adjusted to what she’s been thinking. While she claimed it was tracing, I think the thoughts and commands still come from Sonia.”

I knew there was dark magic that allows one to mimic another, but since I’ve never used it, I wasn’t aware of the specifics.

However, seeing Sonia use it helped me understand what that magic was really about.

The dark stalker could indeed mimic the movements of someone remembered, but it couldn’t replicate thoughts, experiences, or strategies.

Simply put, if Sonia were to use that magic to trace me, she could indeed imitate my actions as far as she knows, but ultimately, she’d only stay within the confines of what Sonia knows.

Moreover, since the thoughts and tactics are based on Sonia’s experience, her imitation would just be a Sonia capable of mimicking my movements.

“In other words, it only imitates my movements as Sonia knows them, unable to replicate my experience-based thoughts and fighting style.”

“I see. So, while it seemed like she was able to mimic Lewis’s movements, her combat style and approach were distinctly Sonia’s.”

“Exactly.”

If she could trace even my memories and experiences, that would indeed be a perfect imitation, but sadly, it seems she can’t go that far.

My thoughts and fighting style are optimized not just for the present but also based on my past experiences.

Thus, it’s impossible for Sonia, who doesn’t know my previous self, to perfectly imitate the current me, meaning her imitation alone wouldn’t turn it into a true match.

(No. If I could transfer all my memories to Sonia, perhaps… No, that won’t work. She’d probably become a vegetable first.)

For a moment, I thought of the possibility of transferring all my memories to Sonia, but the likely prospect of her becoming a vegetable first made me abandon that idea.

While thinking that I’d like to fight against myself someday, I heard Lime announce a break before the finals and the third-place match, so we headed outside the arena.

After an hour of break, we returned to the arena, and soon after, Lime appeared on stage.

“Alright! With just one match left in this five-day martial arts tournament!! This year, incredibly, it will be the first-ever finals between first-year students since the tournament began! Isn’t that amazing? This year’s first years are exceptional!! Oh, by the way, both of them are S-class students under my guidance! Maybe it’s because their homeroom teacher is exceptional! Hence! I’m hoping for a raise~ just putting that out there!”

As Lime said this, laughter erupted from the audience, Principal Mejina smiled wryly, and Supervisor Semari shook with barely contained anger.

“Uh, I got a chill down my spine, so I’ll stop here! Now! Before we proceed to the anticipated finals for the first years, we’ll have the third-place match first! Contestants, enter the arena!!”

At Lime’s signal, Sharuena entered from the right, while Iris came in from the left, facing a third-year male S-class student.

It seemed Sharuena had restored her magical power absorbed by Sonia using a magic recovery potion, as she looked fine now.

After that, Lime introduced the contestants, and the referee teacher stepped up on stage to signal the start of the match.

The first to attack was the male student opponent, swinging his massive axe mercilessly down at Sharuena, and the heavy blow hurtled towards her.

However, she calmly predicted the weapon’s range and trajectory, dodging just in time, and instead of falling back, she stepped in closer to enter the male student’s space.

Once inside the range, Sharuena channeled her magic into her sword and prepared to unleash an ice attack, but to her surprise, the male student released the axe he slammed into the ground and, similarly, closed the distance with a fist surrounded by physical enhancement.

Caught off guard by this unexpected response, Sharuena couldn’t avoid the male student’s attack and took a hit to her right side, sending her crashing toward the arena edge.

Sharuena managed to roll and lessen the impact but, perhaps due to her guard not being up in time, she held her side while coughing.

Meanwhile, the male student, having retrieved his axe, closed in on the still-recovering Sharuena and swung the axe down once more. She hurriedly rolled on the ground to dodge it.

Using the momentum from her roll to stand up, Sharuena prepared her sword and countered, but the male student showed no signs of backing down as he closed the distance, using kicks and charges to keep her from drawing her sword.

“You’re good. You really understand how to fight against Princess Sharueina.”

“Yeah. You can tell he’s a third-year student.”

As Kamael said, the male student’s tactics were exceptionally well-suited against Sharueina, leaving her with almost no chance to retaliate.

Since the Iaido that Sharueina used involved drawing the sword from its sheath, if the distance was closed too much, she wouldn’t be able to draw it.

It seemed the male student understood that and was maneuvering to keep her from drawing her sword, preventing her from countering.

Several exchanges played out similarly, and as Sharueina received damage from one-sided attacks, she approached the male student once more with a serious expression.

Though the male student again closed the distance as before, noticing this, Sharueina let go of the sword’s handle, dodged his fists, seized his arm, and lifted him onto her back.

Then, she slammed him down hard against the ground, where he couldn’t recover immediately due to the sheer impact.

In the meantime, Sharueina unleashed her magic and enacted an ice spell, freezing the male student’s lower body and binding him so he couldn’t move.

With a sword pointed at him, the male student, as if resigned, raised both hands and declared his surrender.

“That was a good fight.”

“Yeah. I wondered how it would go at first, but by intentionally repeating the same thing, it seems she made her opponent lower their guard. Impressive as always.”

As Shuvina noted, by the end, Sharueina didn’t seem to have taken much damage, indicating that the entire sequence leading to the finale was part of her strategy.

Thus, with some signs of struggle, the match for third place ended in Sharueina’s victory, and next, the finals were about to begin.
