Chapter 164

Chapter 17: Enrollment

Early the next morning, Roy put on the uniform of the Central Continent Magic Academy.

The academy had a free-spirited dress code; as long as you wore the uniform, students could pick their preferred colors and styles.

He wore a fitted dark blazer, matching tailored pants, a leather belt hanging in the middle, and a red tie around his neck.

In the mirror, the black-haired boy radiated the elegance and charm of a noble gentleman, yet still retained a youthful masculinity and good looks.

Roy was quite satisfied with his outfit.

“You look great in that, Master.”

The little maid beside him brightened up with her compliment.

“But, please wait just a moment…”

“Alice?”

The little maid suddenly stood on her tiptoes and leaned in.

The soft scent of iris wafted from her golden hair, tickling Roy’s senses.

She extended her delicate little hand to gently adjust his tie, then smoothed out the collar before stepping back, nodding with satisfaction.

“There! Perfect! It’s like this uniform was tailor-made for you, Master.”

Alice’s straightforward and unreserved praise always made Roy feel a bit shy.

“You’re much prettier than I am, Alice.”

“Eh?”

Today, Alice had also donned the uniform, and her appearance was both familiar and fresh to Roy, unlike the usual maid’s skirt.

Though he had seen her character design in the original, seeing her in person still stunned him with her beauty.

Alice chose a pure white outfit; the upper part was a fitted blazer showcasing her graceful figure, while the lower part featured a knee-length flared skirt. The delicate bow at her collar added a touch of cuteness, and the black stockings showcased her fair legs even more.

Morning light gently poured in from the window, draping the girl in a soft glow. Although her face showed no expression, it didn’t seem distant; rather, it made her look like a fallen angel, evoking compassion.

“Really?” Alice turned back, dazed as she glanced into the mirror, seemingly unaware of her stunning appearance.

With their departure imminent, Roy resisted the urge to ruffle her hair, laughing, “Of course! Alice is probably the prettiest girl in this class!”

“…As long as Master likes it,” Alice replied softly after a moment of surprise.

The prettiest girl… could she be even more beautiful than that princess?

A surge of emotions fluttered in the blonde girl’s heart, a gentle joy blooming in her usually cold eyes.

What started as a beautiful morning for enrolling together became even better with this compliment.

Roy, along with Alice, Chuck, and Vanilla, walked down the street, arriving at the very center of Academy City.

Somehow, the scenery began to blur in the distance.

When he came to, the surroundings blended together like a canvas stained with watercolor.

Next, a refreshing breeze accompanied by the sound of chatter rushed at them.

When everyone looked up again, they were shocked by the magnificent sight.

The vast and mysterious campus stretched into the horizon, nestled among lush forests and majestic mountains. Towering spires and ancient magical buildings from the Second Era dotted the entire campus.

The interior of the academy was equally breathtaking. In the center of the hall stood a massive magical crystal, radiating a brilliant light that illuminated the exquisite sculptures and ornate murals surrounding it. Runes and spell engravings adorned the walls and ceilings, filling the space with solemnity and mystery.

Countless new students eagerly surveyed the campus, their faces lit up with excitement.

However, some, like Roy, after the initial awe, turned their attention to the surrounding classmates.

Extraordinary Beings were rare; in the military, even a Sequence 9 Extraordinary Being could serve as a centurion, and in the Adventurers’ circles, a Sequence 9 could attain some fame.

The gathering of thousands of Extraordinary Beings was a remarkable sight for any newcomer.

But unlike them, Roy’s scanning of the crowd wasn’t just out of curiosity; he was on the lookout for the potential life-threatening heroine of the original story, the Chosen One.

The most dangerous hadn’t shown up. The scariest hadn’t come. The most troublesome… oh boy!

Catching a glimpse of a flash of green hair in the distance, Roy quickly averted his gaze.

Fortunately, the person in question didn’t notice him. When he looked back, Nia Molly was already mingling with a few students, laughing and moving away.

This scene was pretty similar to the original.

In the original story, after encountering that Chosen One, Alice would also meet the corresponding character at enrollment. However, only Nia would frequently make her presence felt like this.

But unlike the original Nia, she hadn’t approached Alice to say hello, indicating that his efforts were paying off!

“All new students, please follow me!”

At the call of the upperclassmen, the newcomers settled down in the auditorium.

The academy head and teachers sat on the stage, while below them was a massive, floating transparent magical crystal.

This crystal would create illusions based on the power of bloodlines, displaying the level of extraordinary abilities. The higher the extraordinary level, the more intense the light of the illusion.

Each new student would be tested here.

The age limit for enrollment in the magic academy was quite flexible; however, nobles generally considered 18 to be the entry age.

As long as the Extraordinary Beings were under twenty, the magic academy accepted them with open arms.

Generally speaking, children of nobility and those with adventurer experience gained higher levels, but most were capped at Sequence 9, either at the entry level or peak Sequence 9.

One by one, students placed their hands on the magical crystal, which would emit a faint glow upon sensing their bloodline fluctuations. Even a peak Sequence 9 only made the light stronger, and it couldn’t fill the entire crystal.

Only about one in ten students would achieve Sequence 8.

At Sequence 8, the crystal would begin to reveal illusions.

Be it a fox, an antelope, or some blue grass—those were the origins of their bloodlines.

Each time a Sequence 8 appeared, there would be a small murmur of awe, along with looks of admiration and envy from the others.

Before long, it was Roy’s turn.

“Isn’t that the ‘notorious’ brat? He’s coming to school?”

“Hmph, having a good dad sure helps; he must have inherited some decent bloodline too.”

Limited by the times, news from Veszyra was severely lagging, and while Roy’s reputation was notorious, his recent achievements hadn’t circulated much.

But he didn’t really care.

As his hand touched the crystal, a blood-red shield and sword emerged, shining brilliantly like a scarlet morning star.

“Sequence 8, [Iron-Blooded]!”

Returning to his seat, Roy noticeably felt a reduction in the disdainful and scornful gazes around him.

But he didn’t really care much anyway.

Because the true main attraction of this test was Alice.
