Chapter 163

The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide

Chapter 156: A Good Story

After returning from the Adventurers’ Guild, we came back to the academy and reunited with Fiera, who had been waiting near the gate.

“Fii~era!”

“El. Welcome back.”

“I’m home. Where’s Shuvina?”

“She went to another class with Iris and Sephiria.”

“I see.”

It seems Shuvina and the others are attending a different class together, and this time, only Fiera was waiting for us.

“Sounds fun. Did something good happen?”

“Oh, can you tell? I brought an amazing story for us!”

“A good story? For us… is it about marriage?”

“That’s a good story for you, but not that! It’s something much more productive.”

Fiera had a look that made it hard to tell if she was serious or joking, but I immediately denied the marriage notion since it was nothing good for me.

“Let’s change locations for now. What about Miria and the others?”

“I’ll accompany you.”

“I’m heading over to Iris and the others. I need to talk to them about earlier.”

“Got it.”

“See you later!”

Sonia waved lightly as she headed into the academy, leaving just me, Miria, and Fiera.

“Shall we go, too?”

“Where to?”

“Let’s go to the garden for Class S where we had lunch before. It shouldn’t be too crowded there.”

“Understood.”

Since that garden is restricted to Class S students, and most students should be in their classes at this hour, we decided to move there.

Once we arrived in the garden, we sat on the chairs prepared for breaks and placed the cake we bought on the way back on the table.

“It looks delicious!”

“Go ahead and eat. We already had our fill on the way back.”

“Thank you!”

Fiera took a bite of the cake piled high with fruits, her tail swaying slowly as if she was delighted.

“So, what’s this good story about?”

“Ah, when I was at the Adventurers’ Guild earlier, I met an SS-rank adventurer. They invited me to join their clan.”

“A clan?”

It seems Fiera doesn’t know much about clans, so I started explaining to her what a clan is.

“So, it’s like a bigger group than a party that comes with various perks, right?”

“Yeah, that’s about it. And regarding that clan, we decided to join as a party.”

“I see.”

Fiera nodded without saying much else, happily taking another bite of the cake.

“I know it’s a bit late to ask, but don’t you have any thoughts? Any dissatisfaction or anything?”

“Not really. I’ll just follow El’s decision. It was just a little unexpected.”

“Unexpected?”

“Yeah. I thought you’d refuse since you don’t like being in a group.”

“That’s it. I was planning to refuse at first. But the conditions were good, plus there are benefits after joining, so if they would agree to our conditions, I decided to go for it.”

“I see. Sounds like you.”

After wrapping up that explanation, I took a sip of the orange juice that Miria had prepared and moved on to the next topic.

“So… here are the conditions we put forward: no reorganization of the party, the right to act freely, and the SS-rank promotion exam.”

“Please explain each one.”

“Sure. First, about not reorganizing the party; normally after joining a clan, the senior adventurers assess compatibility and reorganize the party, but we got exempted from that.”

“That makes sense. It would be a hassle to team up with low-rank adventurers at this point.”

Fiera seemed to reach the same conclusion as I did, realizing that forming a party with others now would only slow her down, so she didn’t think much about it.

“Next is the right to act freely. Normally when you join a clan, you mainly take requests in the area where the base is located and get assigned tasks from higher-ranked adventurers.”

“So, that means there are a lot of restrictions once you join a clan?”

“Exactly. You probably noticed this too, but I have a specific goal. I’ve been traveling for that goal and I intend to challenge various dungeons and requests in the future.

However, joining a clan would restrict my freedom to move, right?”

“So that’s where the right to act freely comes in.”

“Yeah. Normally, you would have to take requests in that area while actively working, but we got the restriction lifted just for us. So, we can continue as we did without any worries.

However, when we do take requests or challenge dungeons, we have to enter using the clan’s name.”

“For the contribution points you mentioned earlier. Got it.”

Since I had already explained about contribution points and report meetings during my explanation of the clan to Fiera, it seemed she understood quickly.

“And third, the SS-rank promotion exam. You probably know that to become an SS-rank, you have to fight against an adventurer of that rank and be recognized for your strength as deserving of SS-rank. Then there’s an interview with the guild master where your character is also evaluated, plus you’re judged by the high-ranking people of the guild.”

“Right. But, the number of SS-rank adventurers is so small that we couldn’t promote before.”

“Exactly. But in the clan I’m talking about, there are at least two SS-rank adventurers. It was a good opportunity, so I thought I’d take the chance to raise our ranks.”

“I see. So, what’s the real reason?”

Fiera asked that, looking at me intently as if she was questioning whether that was really the only reason.

“Well, I do genuinely want to rank up to SS-rank, but mainly, I want to fight! It’s a lot of fun to battle strong opponents.”

I’ve fought strong monsters many times and nearly died, but I haven’t had the opportunity to battle strong humans much in this life.

“Fighting monsters is fun, but fighting fellow humans is the most enjoyable.”

Monsters don’t strategize in battle like humans do.

That’s because they take pride in their strength and have experienced survival instincts honed in the wild, meaning they don’t need the subtle strategies or tactics that humans employ.

But humans are different. To win, they’ll use any underhanded trick, and they’ll think hard to survive.

What can be learned from that, whether you’re strong or weak, is something I definitely want to know if it can help my growth.

“Plus, don’t you want to try fighting an SS-rank adventurer?”

Just the thought of battling Olga made me excited, and as I said this while laughing, Fiera nodded with a smile, almost as if she was admiring something sweet.

“I’m glad to see El so happy. I’m looking forward to it too!”

“Yeah. It’ll be a blast.”

I then talked to Fiera for a while about Olga, and she listened to me with delight, her face never once showing displeasure.

“And as for your opponent, it turned out to be a guy named Rai from Olga’s clan.”

“What’s he like?”

“Well, Olga looks to be a melee type, but Rai seems closer to an assassin.”

“An assassin?”

“I won’t spoil more since it’ll be more fun that way, but you might not have good synergy with him. Good luck.”

“Okay. I’ll do my best.”

With that said, Fiera seemed even more excited about facing off against someone she might not mesh well with, her ears and tail reacting noticeably.

After some time spent chatting between just the two of us, Shuvina and the others, who had finished their classes, finally arrived.

I explained to them the same details I had shared with Fiera, and Shuvina accepted that if it was my decision to join the clan, then it was fine. Iris mentioned wanting to join if Sonia was the one introducing her.

Sephiria also seemed interested in joining, but like me, she knew what lay ahead, so she had to forgo it this time due to needing to accompany the hero chosen by the holy sword.

Afterwards, we had tea for a while in the garden, which was now bustling with more people, before we all headed back to our respective rooms.
