Chapter 161
The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide
Chapter 154: Clan
After entering the Adventurers’ Guild, we made our way to the reception while attracting many adventurers’ gazes.
“Excuse me. Is Sheila around?”
“Sheila? I apologize, but could you please present your guild card?”
“Understood.”
I said that and showed my guild card to the woman, who appeared a bit surprised and then walked inside.
“Lord Lewis. It’s been a while!”
“It’s been a while, Sheila.”
Sheila hurried over with an agitated look and greeted me with a smile.
“I didn’t expect you to come so soon. How’s the Academy?”
“Pretty normal. However, I have more free time now, so I think I’ll be coming here a bit more frequently.”
“That’s great to hear! So, what brings you here today? It seems Fiera and the others aren’t here, and who’s the other person with Miria?”
“Today, I’d like to register two adventurers.”
“Nice to see you again, Sheila. Glad to see you’re doing well.”
“Nice to meet you. I’m Sonia. I go to the same academy as Lewis.”
“It’s been a while, Miria. And you must be Sonia. I’m Sheila, in charge of Lord Lewis. Nice to meet you!”
Sheila had met Miria when she was at the Duke’s mansion, where Miria took care of her, so they had become friends back then.
“So, today is about the adventurer registration for Miria and Sonia, right? Will you be registering as part of the same party as Lord Lewis?”
“No, they’ll register individually, please.”
“Eh, individually? Since Lord Lewis brought you, I thought you were new party members.”
“No, these two plan to operate individually or form a party with others in the future, so please process it that way.”
This was a decision we made before coming to the guild. Currently, Fiera and I are at S Rank, while Shuvina is A Rank, but after raising Shuvina’s rank, we plan to challenge an S Rank dungeon.
However, if newly minted adventurers Sonia and Miria joined us, they wouldn’t even be able to enter the dungeon, and it would take time to raise their ranks.
Sure, Sonia’s magic skills are excellent, and with Miria’s herbal medicine and intelligence skills, dungeon exploration might go smoothly, but honestly speaking, getting involved with raising their ranks now just seems like a hassle.
“If everyone agrees, I understand. I’ll handle the paperwork, so Sonia and Miria, please fill in the necessary details on these forms.”
Sheila placed two forms on the table, and Sonia and Miria started filling them out.
“Done.”
“I’m done too.”
“Okay. Let me check… There are no issues. Now, I’ll create your guild cards, so please wait a moment.”
Sheila took the forms and went inside, returning shortly with two guild cards.
“Thank you for waiting. Here are Sonia and Miria’s guild cards. This is your first registration, so you will start at F Rank.
F Rank requests primarily include simple tasks like herb gathering, cleaning the town, or helping out at orphanages. You can find requests posted on the board to the right as you enter. If you’re interested in any, please bring the request form back to the reception.
Also, exclusive to students of Suzette Imperial Academy, there are requests for items obtained from the dungeon within the academy, so I think you might want to consider taking those as well.”
The dungeon within the academy has a rare design. While regular dungeons are built for those of D Rank or higher, the academy’s dungeon has shallow layers aimed at F Rank, increasing in difficulty as one goes deeper.
(It’s almost like it exists to make the protagonist stronger.)
It feels like the dungeon is meant to nurture Shudo, the protagonist, but since even newly minted students can challenge it as an exception, many students constantly attempt to gain achievements and experience there.
Moreover, since items can occasionally drop from the shallow layers of that dungeon, the academy and guild cooperate to buy items and issue special requests, also helping out the common folk who need to earn tuition fees.
“Do you have any questions so far?”
“I have none.”
“I’m good too.”
“Glad to hear it. Since I’m responsible for Lord Lewis and the others, I can’t provide specialized help for you both, but I’ll support you whenever I have time, so feel free to ask!”
After casually discussing future plans with Sheila for a while, I decided it was time to leave and turned around.
“Alright. I guess I’ll go do some trash cleaning.”
“Trash? What are you talking about?”
“Lord Lewis, would you like me to clean up?”
Sonia looked at me, confused by my statement, while Miria immediately understood my words and reached for her dagger from her sleeve.
“Miria. If you draw your weapon first, it’ll be deemed my fault, so hold off on that. If you do draw, it should be because the other party is armed.”
“Understood.”
I lightly admonished Miria and, already feeling weary about what was to unfold, began to walk. Just as I predicted, one of the rough-looking adventurers pretended to trip me by extending his foot.
(Ugh, what a hassle. Should I just step on it?)
“OOOWWWW!!!”
Even though I knew this was how things would go, it was still infuriating, and since it was a pain, I stomped down with a bit more force.
“What’s your deal, you brat?”
“Hm? What are you talking about?”
“You stepped on my foot, didn’t you?!”
“Foot? Oh, sorry, I didn’t notice since it was so short. My bad if I did.”
I deliberately teased him to provoke him, and the hot-headed guy glared while reaching for the sword at his waist.
“Do you even know who I am, you punk?”
“No idea. But let me ask you, do you know me, someone you just met today? If you do, that’s not good, so how about going to the station and confessing? It’s way too creepy to be stalked by a guy.”
“Bastard! You’re looking down on me, huh?! I’m part of the SS Rank clan, the Black Lion’s Verdict!!!”
“The Black Lion’s Verdict?”
Clans are organizations where adventurers form large parties. While a party consists of 5 to 6 people, a clan is made up of over 15 adventurers.
The benefits of forming a clan are various. For example, a powerful clan gets the right to be the first to challenge newly discovered dungeons or receives ample support from the Adventurers’ Guild and get priority on high-rank requests.
However, the perks come with restrictions, such as needing at least one S rank adventurer and four A rank adventurers to form a clan.
Additionally, clans have ranks similar to parties, ranging from B Rank to SSS Rank. If this guy’s clan, the Black Lion’s Verdict, truly is SS Rank, it’s undoubtedly formed by some powerful individuals.
“There’s no way you don’t know about it!”
“Hmm. I don’t.”
Though I knew clans existed, I had no interest in which clans were out there. And I certainly hadn’t heard of any clan called the Black Lion’s Verdict.
“Ha! Not knowing about the Black Lion’s Verdict? What a naive little thing! I’ll teach you about its terrors!!!”
With that, the guy drew his sword and, despite being in the guild, swung it downward at me.
“Huh?? What the…?”
However, the sword never came down onto me, as it was suddenly gripped by a man who appeared behind him.
“Are you the trash using our clan’s name to get all high and mighty?”
The man was a giant with black hair and yellow eyes, towering around 2.5 meters tall, sporting slicked-back hair with beast-like narrow pupils. His muscle bulged out from his open black shirt, making him look like a black lion.
“Gah!? Olga?!!”
“Oh? Seems like you know me, even if you’re not in the clan.”
“N-no, I didn’t use the name of the Black Lion or anything…”
“Hmm? Did I mishear? What’s the deal?”
The man called Olga stared at me and deliberately asked for a clear answer.
“Is this guy not your subordinate? He just said Black Lion’s Verdict earlier, didn’t he?”
“Well, it seems so. But I don’t recall having such trash in my clan… what do you think?”
Evidently irritated that his clan name was being misused, Olga crushed the sword he was gripping, leaving the previously cocky guy as pale as a ghost.
“Wha!? N-no, that’s…!”
“Rai.”
“Did you call for me?”
As soon as Olga called out the name Rai, a man cloaked in a deep hood appeared out of nowhere, standing behind Olga.
“I’ll leave the trash’s disposal to you. He used my clan’s name without permission, so he’ll receive appropriate retribution.”
“Understood.”
Rai grasped the collar of the whimpering man and vanished in an instant, leaving only us, Olga, and the other adventurers and guild staff watching us behind.
“I’m Olga. What’s your name?”
“I’m Eir.”
“Hmm. Eir, let’s chat for a bit.”
“Yeah. I actually wanted to talk to you the moment I saw you.”
“Ha ha ha! Is that so? We might just get along. This place isn’t suited for a chat, so let’s head inside.”
Olga said this and, after borrowing a discussion room from the receptionist in a casual manner, signaled us to follow him.
“We’re going too.”
“Okay!”
“Understood.”
I called out to Sonia and Miria, who seemed a bit wary, and followed after the now cheerful Olga, moving toward the discussion room.
