Chapter 155
“Shit…”
Months had passed since I killed the Demon God. Lying in bed, I felt utterly powerless. All I did was shuffle in and out of the Adventurer’s Guild, beating on a few monsters. Outside of that, I just lay on the bed, staring blankly and cursing.
“What’s wrong with you?”
Luna, sitting next to me, asked as if she was used to my whining. Her tone showed that this wasn’t the first time I’d acted like this.
“I’m bored.”
“But you hunted monsters yesterday, didn’t you?”
“That doesn’t cut it.”
Hunting monsters like that couldn’t ease my boredom. Honestly, it wasn’t that hunting monsters had become dull; it was just that the monsters I faced were too weak to be worth my time.
The monster I caught yesterday was an A-Rank monster, recognized among adventurers. But thanks to the Limit Break I got from slaying the Demon God, my power had grown so much that A-Rank and D-Rank felt just about the same. It was like comparing apples to oranges.

Once my raw strength hit 200, I could even one-punch A-Rank monsters. Anyway, as you can see, I am powerful at the moment.
Because of that, I no longer feel the thrill of defeating goblins like I did when I first started hunting.
To put it in RPG terms, it feels like doing homework. Monsters that used to be so strong have turned into a daily chore that I have to complete.
“Did you go and break Arthur’s wheelchair yesterday because you were bored?”
“That’s one thing, and this is another.”
Tormenting a limbless toilet wasn’t boring, but it certainly didn’t fill the void of boredom. What I needed right now was a truly powerful foe, like the Demon God or the Volcano Dragon.
“I’m soooooo bored!!!!!!!!!!!!”
I flopped around on my bed like a freshly caught fish. But surprisingly, no one cared. Their gazes were filled with the sentiment of, “That guy’s acting up again.”
With no other option, I pulled out my trump card.
“Alright. Let’s hunt an S-Rank monster.”
“Huh?”
The three of them, who had previously been silent, reacted at the mention of an S-Rank monster.
Even though we defeated the Volcano Dragon and the Demon God, we caught the Volcano Dragon in a weakened state with the help of the World Tree and other S-Rank adventurers. Sure, the Demon God was tough, but we managed.
However, other S-Rank monsters were different. The Demon God himself said he hid his form to maintain the balance of the continent.
So, the mere fact that those monsters would show themselves would mean the balance of the continent was on the brink of collapse.
Right now, I was suggesting we catch one as casually as saying let’s go out for soup. Naturally, everyone was taken aback.
“Do we really have to go hunt monsters that are just sitting around…?”
“Did all monsters just sit still? When was the last time they actually invaded the Empire?”
From the way it sounded, you’d think we only hunted monsters that attacked first.
“Can we even win?”
“If we can’t, we’ll just make it so we can.”
Why do people always worry about whether they can win first? If we can’t, we just have to make ourselves capable of winning. As always, we’d gather monster info and prepare based on that.
So, what we needed to do right now was the basics of hunting: gathering information. Though I suggested going to catch one, surprisingly, we had no information at all.
We didn’t even know where S-Rank monsters were located, what they looked like, what sizes they were, or even their names—none of that information was known to us.
So how do we go about gathering information? Normally, you’d check a wiki or watch some YouTube videos, but since we had none of that here, our only option was to pry information from someone knowledgeable.
And speaking of knowledgeable people, didn’t we have one among us? Back in the Academy, there was someone who constantly frequented the library.
“Riche. Didn’t you find any information on S-Rank monsters in the library?”
“Nothing besides the Volcano Dragon. And even then, it was just a brief record.”
Sigh. I knew things wouldn’t go that smoothly.
“Well, I’m heading out for a bit.”
“Where are you going?”
“To gather information at the Academy.”
Currently, in this continent, those who might know about S-Rank monsters could be counted on one hand. One of them was Lucia Marygold, an S-Rank adventurer like me. She was the only one I could conveniently meet right now.
“I’ll go with you.”
“I wanna join too.”
As I got up from my seat, Luna and Riche followed suit.
“What are you guys doing?”
“We don’t know what kind of trouble you might cause.”
“Trouble? What trouble? Where would you find someone as clean as me?”
Honestly, I’d be quiet if no one bothered me. Besides, these days, my name as an S-Rank adventurer had spread widely, so fewer people dared to cause any trouble for me. Maybe that’s why I even found myself feeling bored.
“Yui, what about you?”
“I’ll just stay and rest~”
Ah, Yui. You’re consistent. From the first time I met you until now, you’re still the same old shut-in. I’m proud of you.
Anyway, since Yui decided to rest, we headed to Jeminal Academy.
Jeminal Academy. It was originally the main stage of the novel, but now that the Demon God was dead, it merely stood as an educational institution.
Upon arriving at the Academy, we intended to head straight to the Dean’s Office. However…
“Wait…!”
From one side, a girl was rolling in a wheelchair, with a limbless man hanging onto it. Yeah, as you can tell, it was the Toilet.
Stella approached us, pulling the wheelchair the Toilet was in.
I thought he might do something crazy, but despite that body, the Toilet was still clinging to life. His mental state was better than I expected.
The limbless Toilet couldn’t wield a sword, let alone get around comfortably. According to the setting, Arthur had no parents, so if he didn’t have a heroine to help him, he wouldn’t even be able to eat or move. In that case, he would be waiting around for death like a living corpse.
He could no longer attend the Academy, but the heroines didn’t have that option.
They required diplomas from the Academy for their futures, resulting in the pathetic sight of them dragging the Toilet around in a wheelchair.
For reference, Riche was originally destined for such a fate.
“What.”
“Give me back my limbs…”
The Toilet uttered a line that sounded like something a headless ghost would say.
“Your limbs, huh? Sure, if you want them back, go ahead and find them! Search everywhere in this world…”
“Quit screwing around and give them back!!!”
“A-Arthur! Calm down!!!”
The Toilet almost tipped out of the wheelchair due to his sudden outburst. Stella caught him just in time.
The reason he demanded his limbs from me was that I had them.
When I cut them off before, I put the Toilet’s arms and legs into my inventory out of spite. That meant he couldn’t heal his limbs.
Even with the help of Saint Angela, he could only have his limbs restored if the severed parts were available. Essentially, without my help, the Toilet would never be able to heal.
“Give me back my arms, you damn extraaaaaaa!!!”
Once again, the Toilet launched into another emotional outburst. But without arms or legs, all he could do was shake his head and body. The real problem was Stella, who had to deal with the Toilet’s tantrums. So, I decided to educate the Toilet on reality.
“Do you still think you’re the protagonist?”
“What…?”
“You must have missed the memo; the Demon God is dead.”
“…?”
The Toilet’s mouth dropped open. With that stupid expression on his face, it seemed like he didn’t understand a word I was saying. So I leaned in close and whispered into his ear.
“I killed him.”
“…!”
With the Demon God dead, the story was over. When everything wraps up, all that’s left is some fairytale line about living happily ever after.
Arthur may be the protagonist in the novel, but now that the story is over, he is nothing. No role, just an utterly ordinary person, A. That is the current state of the Toilet.
“So quit pretending to be the protagonist. You’re just an extra now, you dumbass.”
“I’m…an extra…?”
The Toilet, the last remnant of his pride, lowered his only remaining head.
Is he really that shocked to be called an extra? These days, there are more web novels about extras that power up than ones about protagonists.
Replacing the foggy Arthur, it was now Stella who spoke.
“So, why are you here today…?”
She wore a clear expression of wariness. I guess it was because I had smashed the Toilet’s wheelchair yesterday.
“I’m not here to see you, so just go back.”
Overinflated self-consciousness can be quite the issue sometimes. It was them who stopped us, yet they acted like I had come looking for them.
Stella glanced back at us, her expression clearly relieved as she turned the wheelchair to leave.
“Wait.”
“…?”
This time, I halted her progress.
‘Thinking the price of betrayal only costs a couple of limbs is a rather naive thought, isn’t it?’
As I approached, she hastily stepped back, attempting to distance herself. Like that would work.
I snatched the wheelchair’s handgrip from Stella and took off running.
“Luke?!”
“Mr. Arthur?!”
Ignoring their shocked voices from behind, all I could envision was a Toyota AE86. As I hit the sharp turn to the right, I quick-stepped left and then sharply right.
“Whoa—! Help me—!”
“Drift it!”
And then I let go of the wheelchair’s handgrip.
-Thud!
The wheelchair flew away from my hands and smashed against the wall.
