Chapter 152

Chapter 152 My Gentleman Only Targets Girlfriends

Walking down this long corridor, we finally reached a restaurant.

The restaurant had modern lighting, unlike the previous crude torches. In the center was a long dining table, and each seat was set with cutlery. The walls were adorned with various eerie and sinister portraits that could really drain your sanity if you stared at them too long.

Aside from that, there seemed to be no other exits.

“A dead end?” Hao Nan surveyed the surroundings, somewhat puzzled.

Ling Mo shook his head, “Not likely. It wouldn’t make sense to set up such a long path as a dead end; there must be other exits hidden somewhere.”

“Shall we split up and investigate?” Hao Nan suggested.

Ling Mo nodded, “Alright, that sounds efficient.”

With that, everyone dispersed in the restaurant, but each person was on high alert, checking to make sure the floor wouldn’t collapse beneath them and that the ceiling wouldn’t come crashing down, making the scene quite bizarre and a bit comical.

Wen and Hao Nan checked the portraits on the surrounding walls, while Ling Mo and Xia Xinyan cautiously approached the dining table to observe its contents.

All the cutlery on the table was very clean, as if it had just been set up. In the middle of the table sat a teapot, with a piece of paper pressed beneath it.

Xia Xinyan cautiously pulled out the paper to take a look, a bit on edge. It was hastily scribbled with a line —

“【Be polite when dining with elders】”

At that moment, Murong Yue also leaned in, crowding next to them and curiously asked, “What does this mean? Is it a decoding segment?”

“Maybe,” Xia Xinyan replied casually, looking around the table again, pondering the significance of the note.

Murong Yue thought for a moment and suddenly pulled out a nearby chair, “Could it be that we’re supposed to imitate the dining process? You know, polite dining and all?”

As she said that, she sat down.

Just then, Xia Xinyan seemed to realize something and shouted, “Wait!”

—Unfortunately, it was too late.

Almost the instant she sat down, the entire floor around the dining table suddenly collapsed. Strangely, the tables and chairs remained suspended in mid-air, as if the players were experiencing a 1000-ms delay.

However, the few real players around the table didn’t quite have such high latency.

With the ground suddenly giving way, they fell straight down.

Xia Xinyan was quick to react, grabbing the nearest chair to try and climb back up, but the chair, which had been very dry, suddenly became extremely slippery, as if coated with grease. It even tilted towards her, causing her to lose her grip and helplessly watch as she fell down.

She hated this feeling.

Before hitting the ground, she saw the floor above snap shut, engulfing her view in darkness.

Then, she fell into an embrace.

It was Ling Mo.

He was the first to fall but, thanks to the soft ground and his enhanced physique from zombie mutation abilities, the fall didn’t harm him at all. Immediately upon landing, he found Xia Xinyan’s spot and caught her in his arms.

They maintained the princess carry position, gazing at each other as the dim light from the torches around them created an increasingly ambiguous atmosphere.

Until…

“Ahem, you two, there are others here too; mind your image,” Murong Yue’s voice floated over from the side.

Xia Xinyan’s face turned red, and she scrambled out of Ling Mo’s arms, stepping away from him: “We probably answered the decoding process incorrectly just now, so this is likely a punishment stage. Keep an eye on your surroundings; there’s a good chance it’s dangerous here.”

Ling Mo watched her retreating figure, chuckling silently.

She’s shy.

Xia Xinyan seemed to be easily embarrassed.

But it seemed she still hadn’t realized that they had already done plenty of things that were much more worthy of embarrassment.

Like treating her in front of the chubby guy…

Or maybe she didn’t consider such actions that intimate?

After all, it was merely for treatment.

If that were the case, he was quite willing — even if it was just for treatment, there’s still some enjoyment that comes with it, right?

Murong Yue didn’t pay attention to their odd atmosphere.

Young couples giving off pheromones now and then was pretty normal; she’d seen plenty of it in romance dramas, and she was already immune.

What she was more concerned about was their environment.

This was a basement — obviously, since they fell from the first floor, it couldn’t be on higher levels.

What was noteworthy was the environment.

This place was likely about the size of a basketball court, completely enclosed, and no visible exits. There were plenty of torches on the walls, but given the space wasn’t small, they only barely illuminated the whole area.

And the soft ground beneath them seemed like some biological tissue, both visually and when walked on, it was very disturbing.

She increasingly felt that this dungeon was a bit off.

While she was observing the ground, many hands suddenly reached out from it, and a bunch of bloody, disfigured humanoid monsters crawled out and began to slowly approach them.

Murong Yue raised an eyebrow, “Crap, this dungeon definitely has issues! Do we really need to deal with such disgusting monsters?!”

Ling Mo was already ready for battle, “Looks like we have to kill them to leave?”

Xia Xinyan wagged her tail a bit.

Just right to stretch her body.

These monsters weren’t too strong — that was the conclusion after Ling Mo engaged them.

Though strong or not, they were highly durable; he even popped the head off one of them, and it didn’t die, still dragging its headless body to attack him.

Then he promptly conjured a small bomb, shoved it onto its chest, and kicked it away, resulting in a massive explosion.

Indeed, explosions proved more efficient than fists.

Xia Xinyan noticed more than Ling Mo did.

These monsters didn’t affect her much; slicing through them with her tail was easier than cutting tofu. Even if they somehow clung to life after losing their heads, she could cleanly slice them in half, rendering them incapable of further movement.

But… she noted that this type of monster was the first to appear with a “limb severing” effect.

Though the severed limbs turned into white light and disappeared without a drop of blood, it still counted as mildly gory.

They really escalated the intensity…

—And soon she realized that not only had the intensity escalated, but these monsters were also getting stronger.

Monsters kept crawling out from the ground, and the later ones appeared with faster movements and stronger power. Although they still posed no real threat, they were good at pinning them down.

Ling Mo kicked a monster that got too close and finally couldn’t resist looking at Murong Yue, who had been inching closer to him, “Why aren’t you making a move? Just standing there watching is so interesting?”

Murong Yue grinned, completely oblivious to her lack of engagement: “I’m just here to give you some glory, why aren’t you pleased?”

Ling Mo’s response was to shove two monsters toward her.

Murong Yue was shocked, “Hey! Can’t you be a bit more of a gentleman? Why push monsters toward a girl?!”

Ling Mo glanced over at Xia Xinyan, who was having a massacre not too far away, his tone casual: “My gentlemanly conduct is only for my girlfriend. As for others, I don’t bother wasting my energy.”

Murong Yue: “…”

If it weren’t for her fear of getting sliced in half by Xia Xinyan’s tail, she wouldn’t have come looking for this exploding maniac!

Why were both of them so hard to deal with!
