Chapter 130

Chapter 130 Why Are You Still Glowing?

Finding Morning Light turned out to be far more troublesome than looking for anyone else.

Previously, the city was chaotic, and you could see a few police cars responding to incidents; just follow one of them and you could find someone with your eyes shut. But as we were running out of people to find, those incidents quieted down, and of course, the police cars had to go back.

So, most of the police cars we encountered on the road were those without sirens, making the usual approach pretty unhelpful.

Fortunately, the Old Town isn’t very large, and with everyone moving pretty quickly, it took a little over an hour to stroll through the whole place before we found something strange—

In the middle of an intersection stood a… skeleton.

Yes, a completely bare skeleton, not a shred of flesh left on it, and it wasn’t even that scary, far less terrifying than the female ghost we encountered at the haunted house back then.

However, this skeleton was swaying around in the street, seemingly looking for something or someone.

This left Fatty quite surprised: “No way? Is that skeleton really that old dude?”

“Maybe?” Bai Yu also looked a bit strange, “Isn’t everyone supposed to have different identities? What if that guy is just an undead?”

“Doesn’t seem like it.” Ling Mo shook his head, “The way it’s moving doesn’t look like… a player.”

“The issue is, there isn’t anyone else around!” Fatty shrugged, “I can’t believe we’re lucky enough to not bump into that old dude and run into his Hunter first, right?”

Just as he finished speaking, a voice floated in from behind: “That’s right, it seems you guys are quite lucky.”

Fatty shivered and instinctively turned back, only to see a… man radiating holy light.

It was so shocking he could barely keep his eyes open: “Whoa, so dazzling!”

Xia Xinyan was also blinded by the guy, and before she could react, Ling Mo suddenly hugged her protectively, looking warily at the newcomer: “Stay back!”

The stranger’s smile froze, but he quietly took a few steps back, distancing himself.

He also dimmed his brightness a bit.

Now, we could finally see his face.

Morning Light.

No real change from before.

Except that he was glowing.

Just as Ling Mo and Xia Xinyan had guessed.

Fatty was dumbfounded: “How the hell are you still glowing?!”

“…Because I’m a Holy Light Knight now.” Morning Light’s smile was awkward but polite, “Specializing in dealing with the undead.”

Unfortunately, he really couldn’t handle the skeleton in front of us at the moment.

Xia Xinyan, still in Ling Mo’s arms, attempted to break free but couldn’t.

Morning Light noticed the hostility radiating from the two of them and couldn’t help but chuckle, “What are you staring at me for? I’m not gonna hurt you.”

“You’re a Holy Light Knight? Holy Light?” Ling Mo stared at him for a moment, then looked down at Xia Xinyan in concern, “Do you feel anything weird?”

Xia Xinyan: “…”

She was feeling uncomfortable from being held.

Fatty burst into laughter: “Do you really think this game would let players harm each other? Chill out a bit, will you?”

He had seen how player damage penalties worked in this game; who the hell would have the spare time to hurt others? Plus, with severe penalties, the game wouldn’t set up a system where players could hurt each other; that’d just be ridiculous, right?

And besides…

“By the way, aren’t you also a zombie? If he had real damage power, you’d be in trouble too.”

Ling Mo: “…”

That actually sounds kind of reasonable.

When he heard Morning Light say he was a Holy Light Knight, he instinctively thought he’d harm Xia Xinyan, the ghost, and without even thinking, his body acted to protect her. But now that he thought about it, that logic did make sense.

Moreover, he didn’t feel anything strange was going on.

He silently let go of Xia Xinyan.

Xia Xinyan cleared her throat, didn’t say anything more, and turned to look at the skeleton approaching them: “So what’s the situation? What about that skeleton…”

“It’s a bit tricky, I can’t really deal with it.” Morning Light shrugged.

His identity as a Holy Light Knight meant he was supposed to be specialized in dealing with the undead, but now the game had switched their attack and defense roles—operating it was quite simple; the undead was still the necromancer-type, and his ability had purification effects on the undead. But the one in front of them… it was really tough.

So tough that his purification spells didn’t work at all.

It was just like Bai Yu; the goblin’s magic resistance just happened to be higher than Bai Yu’s magic attack power, meaning they were on the losing end.

Fortunately, this undead moved slowly, so even if he couldn’t win, after a few encounters, he started playing kite tactics with the undead.

That was also why he hadn’t stirred up any panic in the city; after all, he hadn’t engaged in any real battles with it.

“It’s tough? Just how tough is tough?” Fatty eyed Morning Light sideways.

A Holy Light Knight actually couldn’t take down the undead? How embarrassing.

Morning Light maintained his smile: “You can go experience it yourself.”

Bai Yu thought for a moment, suddenly raised his right hand, and conjured a large fireball, hurling it straight at the undead.

The fireball hit the undead, burned for a few seconds, then extinguished, yet the undead didn’t seem to be affected at all.

Bai Yu shook his head: “That’s my strongest spell.”

Fatty snorted and rummaged around in his pants to pull out an… unidentifiable object: “I’ll see whether it’s tough or I’m tough!”

Saying that, he picked up a hammer and started forging right on the spot.

Even though there were no special operations involved, that thing gradually became more refined with each blow he struck, and finally, it became clear what it looked like—it was… a little chainsaw filled with goblin style.

Ling Mo instinctively pulled Xia Xinyan back a bit.

He was afraid it might explode.

Morning Light also quietly backed away a few steps, watching them with a thoughtful expression.

Only Bai Yu kept his eyes glued to Fatty, looking quite weird: “…You can pull that thing out of your pants?”

“Dimensional pants, anything can come out of them, what? Do you want to touch it?” Fatty casually responded while hammering.

Bai Yu stepped back from him.

Ling Mo squinted slightly.

Tsk, this Fatty really was getting gayer by the minute.

However…

He turned his gaze back to the undead.

At this point, he had already killed four Hunters, and had accrued quite a bit of loot. Given this last skeleton, even if he had ideas, he shouldn’t go up against it; otherwise, he’d take all the good stuff for himself, and it might annoy others. He understood the importance of allies in this game, so he wouldn’t jeopardize that for a little personal gain.

Moreover, judging by the look of this skeleton, it probably wouldn’t drop anything good anyway.

Let Fatty have his moment.

Xia Xinyan was using her peripheral vision to take a glance at Ling Mo.

She now noticed that Ling Mo was really improving rapidly.

He even somewhat resembled that aura she had back then.

He was indeed handsome…

But just thinking about how he suddenly hugged her earlier… made her feel a bit strange.

As if declaring possession.

Hopefully, she was just overthinking it…
