Chapter 12
The hero ruthlessly slaughters his kind right before their eyes.
Witnessing his appearance, the aide who came to monitor the Hero couldn’t help but feel a chilling sensation.
‘Could it be… that he would so casually cut down his fellow humans?’
Even though the Hero had boasted incessantly, the aide honestly didn’t believe it.
No… it was simply unbelievable.
Even though the Demon King had offered assurances, the aide—who had been part of the Demon King’s Army—knew all too well what the Hero was capable of.
Having overcome numerous near-death experiences and impossible situations, the Hero had always wielded his sword for the sake of humanity.
Given that he had devoted himself wholeheartedly to the war for humanity and the Racial Alliance, the aide had expected to see the Hero falter during this mission, or perhaps even stab them in the back, watching every moment with hawk-like vigilance.
However, after witnessing the brief fight just moments ago, he had to admit it.
This Hero standing before them…
was no longer the same individual they had known.
‘It seems the Demon King’s words hold true… Indeed, the current Hero appears to be a completely different being. In that sense, he doesn’t seem likely to betray us right away… but…’
Though terribly twisted now, simultaneously, the Hero had become a being they could trust, stirring complex emotions within the aide.
But the next moment…
The Hero began to propose another task instead of finishing things here, and hearing this, the aide felt that chilling sensation again but accepted it for now.
Separately from his feelings, he couldn’t help but be tempted by the Hero’s proposal.

“Yawn…”
“I’m tired…”
At the post guarding the entrance to Port Town Rob, a group of soldiers was complaining of fatigue while keeping watch.
Having finished the annoying job of dispatching a military supplies transport, they were feeling somewhat relieved.
However, regardless of the ruckus ending, with the sun still up and plenty of time left in their shift, the soldiers tried to shake off their tiredness, stretching to regain their alertness.
Then…
“Huh?”
“What… what is that?”
The next moment, two figures suddenly emerged from the darkness.
Wearing the same armor as the soldiers who had just departed to transport supplies, they were staggering toward them, completely covered in blood.
“Hey! Are you okay over there?”
“What on earth happened? Where did you get hurt like this?”
“Ugh…”
As the soldiers approached, the wounded soldiers collapsed in front of them.
In a hurry, they rushed to support their comrades.
Amidst the fallen, one soldier managed to speak with great difficulty, his voice filled with pain.
“The… the enemy… the Demon Races… have attacked… they stole all the military supplies… they’re… coming here soon… cough! cough!”
The injured soldier struggled to speak, blood trickling from his mouth.
Watching him, the soldiers sprang into action.
“Damn it!”
“First, let’s get these men inside, and you all go report to the higher-ups!”
“It’s an invasion by the Demon Races! Everyone prepare for battle!”

“This way! Please hurry!”
“Alright!”
A soldier, just out of bed, dashed with urgency alongside a priest to where the patients were being tended.
They were racing to treat the soldiers, now bloodied and horribly injured from the recent ambush by the Demon Races.
The location for the wounded was the Medical Unit located near the harbor.
When they hurriedly arrived, the soldier quickly guided the priest into the barracks.
But…
“Here! Quickly get the patients… huh?”
“…?”
In the next moment, confusion washed over the faces of the soldier and priest.
Just moments ago, two soldiers had been gasping for breath here.
They had been pleading for the priest to come as fast as possible in excruciating pain.
However…
At this moment, neither of them saw any patients.
All they could see were empty cots and the armor of soldiers scattered on the floor. That was it.
“What… what on earth happened? Where are the patients? Where are the ones that were here?!”
“Th-they were definitely here just a moment ago…”
Both were at a loss, unable to comprehend the situation.
Just then…
-BOOM!!!-
“!”
“What… what is that?”
The sound abruptly filled their ears.
In a situation where battle was anticipated, hearing such a noise from magic or siege weaponry would generally be expected.
However, despite that…
At this moment, a shadow of deep confusion began to settle on General Cassandra’s face.
“General! Look over there!”
With her subordinate’s panicked voice and the sound of the explosion ringing in her ears.
But… the location of the sound was not the defensive wall where the battle was supposed to take place.
In the darkness, flames erupted brilliantly in a place far from where the battle was expected: the warehouse area near the harbor, stacked full of military supplies and food.
