The professors’ project to create a goblin grand magician was nothing but a disaster for the goblins undergoing training.
“Just burning a few houses wouldn’t magically create a Fire Element Mana Puzzle! If that were the case, the fire mages would have long become arsonists! Why would they go find a volcanic pit?!”
“That insane person is going to explode a volcano!!”
“I’m so scared, please save me!!”
“Shut up. Keep your mouth shut and witness the volcano erupting. Feel the Fire Element Mana spreading out into the world with the eruption!”
“Kyaaa!!! That insane person is threatening us by showing us how our land is doomed!!!”
“My eyes, I can’t close my eyes!!”
Goblins had to witness the insane sight of creating a crater on a perfectly normal mountain while watching a volcano explode with their own eyes!
“Just drinking water from a ditch wouldn’t create a Water Element Mana Puzzle! Why would the Blue Magic Tower volunteer for deep-sea exploration? You incompetent fools. This is how training is done!”
“The sea has become angry!!”
“The land is soaked in water!!!”
“Magma kills upon contact, but a tsunami can be avoided with a proper shield. Don’t lose your mind; see the power of water! Watch how it devastates the ground, how it crushes solid structures, witness the greatness of Water Element!”
“My fields have vanished without a trace!!!”
“My autumn harvest is ruined!!!”
The goblins cried out in despair as they looked at their village swept away by a tsunami and the farmlands submerged without a trace!
“What do we do without any mana puzzles?”
“Just throw it anywhere. We urgently need to gather only the talented ones, how can we hope to cultivate non-existent talents through the wall of ignorance?”
“That’s true.”
Talentless goblins lost their residences beyond the disaster training area and were tossed aside, becoming drifters who lost their homes!
The professors had something to say about this tragedy as well.
It wasn’t because they were psychopaths doing this for fun with no reason.
“If we rot aimlessly for hundreds of years in this realm, the number of professors at the Academy will be halved in the blink of an eye in the Middle Realm.”
“We need to see results as soon as possible.”
“Before that, we need to reduce the dimensional distance with the Middle Realm. We’ve exhausted all escape routes to the Bronze Professor, and as things are, the resources needed for escape are far too much.”
“Professor Dihtart, is there any way?”
“There is. By reducing the cost of the dimensional realms themselves, we can make it easier to bring the dimensional realm closer to the Middle Realm. This will also reduce the resources required for spatial movement.”
“Ooh! How do we reduce that cost?”
“By decreasing the planet’s size.”
“How can we do that?”
“By decreasing the number of living beings on the planet.”
“Hmm. Sounds doable?”
“By decreasing the total civilization level on the planet.”
“Now that’s really doable!”
“As a side effect, the distances between dimensions will shrink, converging the time ratio to 1:1, but anyway, if we get out quickly, it won’t matter, right? We’re not going to live in this world forever.”
“Of course not!”
If technology development occurs, civilization levels will rise, but they can just wipe out all the goblin kingdoms outside the special zones, right?
Goblins, being not humans, wouldn’t feel a qualm about committing mass slaughter in the tens of millions or even hundreds of millions.
When exterminating pests, they feel a sense of pride; they think those who feel pain and guilt are insects wearing human disguises.
“So, since we’ll eventually need to cultivate supporting mages for dimensional travel, how about we cause some natural disasters to reduce the level of civilization and the number of living beings?”
The owner of the destruction zone, Professor Agareth’s suggestion lit a flush on the face of the owner of the crushing zone, Paimon.
“Ah, I’ve wanted to do this for so long. There are so many international laws to follow in the Middle Realm, and I’m tired of having to engage in small-scale disasters for practice; knowing I can cause a natural disaster openly is just fantastic. I feel like I’ve made the right choice in becoming a professor!”
Professor Bapula from the Production Department also drooled with a sinister grin, wriggling his fingers.
“We haven’t had a war against other races lately, so I haven’t had the chance to flood a hundred-thousand-strong army by bursting dams. I’m so happy to finally have a chance to show off my skills.”
Professor Velede from the Magic Department nodded in agreement, fully resonating with the idea.
“Hahaha, every magician has imagined this at least once. Wouldn’t it be great if we could kill off those primitive creatures and level up our skills? The principal was able to rampage and get stronger before building the academy, but the double standards that stop us from doing so really irked me.”
They hadn’t intended to cause disasters from the beginning, but if they could induce disasters, they could also hasten their return to the Middle Realm and simultaneously aid in their skill advancement.
What’s the downside? A few goblins might die?
No, that can’t even be considered a downside. It’s more of an advantage.
An innocuous plan!
They had been blindsided by Professor Bronze, the sensible brakes of the group, leaving the professors to race ahead joyfully without any brakes applied.
In the Goblin World, rumors spread about humans from the demonic realm who bring death and destruction.
“Don’t look up at the sky.”
“Why not?!”
“There’s a crazy magician who’ll abduct you if you perceive the stars made of mana.”
A life where one must not look up at the sky.
“Don’t build houses on the ground.”
“What if an earthquake happens? What will we do down there?”
“Earthquakes only kill a tribe or two, but humans obliterate entire nations.”
A life where one must not dwell on the ground.
“Don’t cry, baby.”
“Waaah, I’m hungry! There’s so much food up there, but I can’t go out, it’s so unfair!”
“That’s a trap created by humans to entice us. If we try to eat, we’ll be captured, have our memories extracted, and our underground hideouts will be exposed.”
A life where one must not gather food even when it’s visible.
It’s hell.
If there were truly a demon bent on destroying the world, it would undoubtedly be them.
The only hope left for the goblins was the single area where humans guaranteed their survival: the [Goblin Administrative Special Zone].
“The Goblin Administrative Special Zone is dedicated to supporting goblins with outstanding technology and magical talents to facilitate their rapid growth.”
“Qualified individuals, abandon your crumbling villages and refugees, come to the special zone. The only way for you to bloom your talents and succeed is to live in the special zone.”
The goblins wailed loudly, clinging to their tribal leaders or holding back tears as they sent them off.
In goblin society, where innate talent directly correlates with power, the talents demanded by the special zone often came from those responsible for a single clan, or even the entirety of a country.
The latter perished while rallying for resistance, while clan leaders scattered far and wide bore a much lighter burden of responsibility.
“We will succeed and revive our clan.”
“We’ll bring back tons of food.”
Even with a sense of responsibility, there was little reason to bow before the great evils that pushed the Goblin World toward destruction.
To ensure the safety of their clans, they had no choice but to cooperate and secure resources, seeking permission to survive.
Many goblins did so.
That was the trend and flow.
However, as the times grew harsher, those who defied the flow would shine brighter and become greater.
[This is a sight one cannot bear to see with their eyes open.]
The arrogant actions of humans drew the ire of a deity.
If the existing greedy and trivial goblins had been dying left and right, no god would have cared.
But these goblins were different now.
They knew how to stack small stone towers to pray.
Rather than squandering the points they unknowingly accumulated on their greedy daily lives, they knew to offer them through prayers.
Instead of becoming abusers of subspecies by grotesquely laughing while tearing them apart, they became expanders of subspecies by petting them and showering them with food.
Instead of making necklaces out of the fingers of subspecies, they crafted them from pretty stones or gems.
The weeping pleas of the once-green-skinned beings who had become small and adorable gathered in the granary of faith, filled with grime, sweat, and tears, moving the heart of the deity.
[May the only true Apostle of the One God descend upon this land.]
A dazzling flash enveloped the world.
On that day, all professors looked up at the sky in anger.
“The God’s power!”
“We have tolerated the faith of you primitive mana users at the Academy for an extended time, yet you dare to go against us!”
“If you are the celestial gods, we are the earthly gods. Whether wise or demi-god, we possess strength nearly equal to that of a god, making your rebellion entirely meaningless.”
“Search! A sacred beast, blessed with divine power, has been born somewhere on this land!”
“Kill all the large mutants on sight!”
High-stat mutants inevitably grow larger due to their superior physical abilities.
If they possess special magical organs, they’ll have to grow in size for the development of those organs.
Killing a large mutant would naturally remove the Apostle of God blessed with divine power.
The speculation was correct.
Yet it was a misguided attempt.
The problem was that there was a mutant born from the combination of mana control mastery and the extreme physical compression of the Mana Refinement Technique, receiving generous advice from Oknodie from the outset.
