Chapter 141

[Title: What Do Rift and I Have in Common?]

(Image of a Rift exploding in a village)

(An image of a mom shouting and crying)

Basically, it’s about blowing something up, lol

– It’s bragging, you jerk, lol

– (Mom) My insides feel empty~

– If it’s useless, then I give it a thumbs up, lol

Rifts have always been a problem.

Using monsters as food, the so-called monster meat and mana pills had far more downsides.

“The biggest issue was that we couldn’t destroy the Rift.”

Rifts are impossible to destroy.

This was accepted as common knowledge.

“No, you can break it.”

After all, the Rift was a living entity.

Thinking back to the reaction of the Rift when chemical weapons were used previously, ways to destroy it existed.

However, dealing with the massive Rift Wave that struck Rondel village was the priority.

“If we just build a mob tower, it’d be a hit.”

In games, there’s something called a mob tower.

You artificially create an environment where monsters spawn, and then they automatically die as soon as they appear.

That produces experience points and loot—a kind of factory.

“But how do I make it?”

Typically, you set up the environment at a high place and let them fall to their deaths.

But this Rift was on the ground.

Since adjusting its position artificially was impossible, we couldn’t lift this Rift up.

“Looks like I need to rummage through the shop again?”

The shop gathered all the modern technology.

If you wonder if they sell such things, they do.

There’s even stuff you wouldn’t expect to be sold.

I’m sure the solution to this problem could be found in the shop.

But I decided to use a slightly different approach.

– Ah, damn it, there’s no work here as it is [3]

– How are we supposed to live? lol sigh [6]

– Life is bitter, lol [12]

“This is it.”

While looking at the posts from Gallums in the Rondel area on the gallery, I closed the shop window instead.

“Is it impossible to adjust the Rift’s position?”

Then, we can just dig deep underground to make the ground reach the sky.

If people set their minds to it, they can move mountains.

This has been proven by ancient Egyptians and South Korean soldiers.

“From earth to sky, from sky to space.”

The ceaseless issue of certain tribes.

I decided to create large-scale jobs.

*

Adrian is poor.

And the outskirts of Rondel are dirt-broke.

While people are born in Rondel, there’s no crazy person going there to make money.

That was the perception of the Rondel area.

[Title: I Woke Up to See the Sky]

(Image of a torn roof)

Haha, the air is nice and the weather is good.

– Damn, so pitiful for real.

– Why is your mindset so positive?

– What will you do if it rains?

Writer: Just open my mouth to drink the water.

Lol, a positive king indeed.

Many residents were so positive they almost seemed enlightened.

This portion of the Rondel area had been something that even previous Adrian Emperors couldn’t solve.

There were many monsters nearby.

The area was rugged, hard to access, and the weather was so bad that it was hard to find a clear day.

“Just perfect.”

It was the perfect environment to announce a part-time job hiring.

[Notice: Part-Time Job Hiring]

Author: Head of the Gallery*

Time: 10 AM to 9 PM

Lunch and dinner each 1 hour, extra break time included

Pay: 13 mana pills

Job: Minecrafters

Area: Rondel village / Safety Guaranteed

This announcement is a bit harsh.

Sorry, but there’s only 1 hour of break time except for meal time, and the work hours are 8 hours long.

You don’t need to bring equipment; it’ll be provided on-site.

Due to half the village flying off, there’ll be temporary tents for breaks.

Coffee, snacks, and sugars will be available, and as long as you don’t cause a mess, you can take some with you.

Anyone interested?

“Huh, are the conditions too poor?”

Honestly, I was trying to set the pay at the lowest rate of 10.03 mana pills, but out of conscience, I raised it to 13 mana pills.

It was digging into the ground, after all.

“Maybe I should raise it more.”

With the village blown to pieces, there was no proper rest area.

At best, we had simple break areas set up with temporary tents and snacks.

Since we didn’t know when the Rift Wave would hit, we shortened the rest time for faster work.

Still…

– Damn, what the hell are you doing?

– Why is there a 1-hour meal break?

– Separate break time for 1 hour—what the hell does that mean?

– Head of the Gallery, I have a question! So, that means we get 1 hour for lunch and dinner combined, right?

– Head of the Gallery*) No, each one is one hour.

– Oh, so you mean all three together?

– Head of the Gallery*) No, it’s 1+1+1 for 3 hours.

– Ah, I understand, so…

– So we have to pay for our meal and snacks ourselves, right?

“No, come on.”

But the Gallums didn’t get it.

Even though the notice was clear, they kept misinterpreting it and making me look bad.

– Head of the Gallery*) No, I’m providing all the meals for free.

– Head of the Gallery*) Sorry, but there’s only 1 hour for the separate break times, right???

– Ugh, this is seriously frustrating, lol.

– So what the hell am I apologizing for????

– Damn, lol.

– Head of the Gallery, what the hell am I apologizing for?

– If you really don’t get what I’m apologizing for, then that’s a thumbs down, lol.

– Head of the Gallery, are you doing this on purpose?

– Why do you keep trying to get me riled up?

– Head of the Gallery ← This guy’s clearly toxic.

– Head of the Gallery*) Damn.

I didn’t know how many people to hire, so I just estimated 100.

Of course, I prioritized hiring Rondel residents.

“I figured no one would be crazy enough to come from outside.”

Rondel was located in the southern outskirts of Adrian.

I thought no one would come to work part-time here, but I was mistaken.

[Title: Haha, I’m Entering Like a Dog]

(Selfie of the Rondel village scenery)

I’m from Kellierhton but came to make money.

Give me some work, you bastards!

[Upvotes: 42] [Downvotes: 12]

– Have you ever seen such a cheeky kid? lol

– What job have you given them? Damn, lol.

– But didn’t all the positions fill up already? What guts do you have to show up?

– Writer) I heard the closer you are, the higher the hiring probabilities, so I just came, lol.

[Title: Wait, is this really Rondel?]

(Image of a meal distribution during lunch)

(Image of various dishes piled up on a lunch tray)

For reference, I’m neither a part-time worker nor a Rondel official.

I just came because I was starving and felt lost in life, but suddenly they’re handing out food?

Wasn’t this supposed to be a dirt-poor place?

When did it become so rich?

[Upvotes: 12] [Downvotes: 0]

– Whoa, what’s the meal quality?

– I’m going there right now.

– Even noblemen can’t eat meals like this, lol.

– The meal plan has vegetables, meat, and seafood; not one thing is missing!

There were no issues with food procurement.

It was a modern world overflowing with meal kits.

With just a click in the shop, you could order whatever you wanted.

Plus, thanks to price competition, meals could be provided infinitely.

“And then those who came in can also take on additional jobs for village repairs and reconstruction.”

Labor was always in short supply.

I had the Gallums come in and take on additional tasks for village repairs and restoration.

Safety was guaranteed by the Gallery Doctors.

And…

[Title: Wow, I’m Seeing a Paladin for the First Time, lol]

(Image of Gallums surrounding the Unknown)

(Image of the Unknown munching on food being offered)

They’re all but squabbling over food like squirrels; it’s so cute that it deserves a thumbs up, lol.

[Upvotes: 3943] [Downvotes: 52]

– I’ll start with that too.

– Whoa, I want to poke their cheek, lol.

– Is that really the protagonist of the Gallery horror story? My heart is pounding…

After all, there’s also the Unknown.

A top-tier Unknown that can face off against monstrous multitudes.

The Rondel area began to recover and even grow faster than the historical environment had suggested.

About a week passed.

Excellent Doc: Mr. Head of the Gallery, how is this?

Excellent Doc: (Image of a deep pit beneath the Rift)

Head of the Gallery*: Nice.

Eventually, people succeeded in creating an underground beneath the Rift.

They dug down to 22 meters.

“Y22 sounds nice.”

Not only that, but they had also created an area the size of a decent open space below.

It was the completion of a modern mob tower.

For those who flocked to Rondel in the meantime, they grabbed their spots even if it wasn’t part of my part-time job.

[Title: Am I the Only One Waiting Here?]

(Image of a slaughterhouse for monsters beneath the mob tower)

I got hired as a monster meat cook, lol.

I came here for construction work but found all spots filled up, and I was in despair, but this is a sweet deal, lol.

But I don’t know where they’re getting the monsters, yet the hourly wage is ridiculously high.

I’m cooking monsters I can’t stand and earning money?

Sax.

[Upvotes: 401] [Downvotes: 5]

– Damn, I should’ve come earlier.

– I was about to join but missed the chance, damn…

– But isn’t it too dangerous there?

– Honestly, I don’t even know what I’m building here, but I’m getting paid, so I’m just building, lol.

[Title: But What’s the Actual Purpose of This?]

(Image of the underground mob tower)

I’m loving the pay, but honestly, I have no idea what the purpose is.

I’m not saying anything because it’s Head of the Gallery, but I honestly don’t get it, lol.

It’s just a vast open space, ooo.

– Seriously, I thought something cool was coming up.

– So it’s just an empty space? Nothing there?

– Writer) Yep, this is it.

– Seems like Head of the Gallery was just bored.

They’re grinding monsters like a factory to reap profits.

For medieval people who had no concept of factories, mob towers were an incredibly foreign idea.

But I didn’t pay much attention to the Gallery reactions.

[Title: I Won’t Write a Counterargument]

Author: Head of the Gallery*

It’s estimated there are just two days left until the major wave hits.

The sound of wind and eerie raindrops beat against the bunker outside.

The calm before the storm.

Whether you guys are the weaklings or I am, the outcome will tell.

[Upvotes: 9999+] [Downvotes: 502]

– Here we go again; just eat something.

– What’s this meme about now?

– This post stinks of poop, hehe.

– Stop the bullshit!!!

Waiting for monsters to come through the Rift while wasting time with pointless comments and Gallery posts…

[Title: Is the Wave Here?]

(Image of the Great Rift turning red)

Damn, why is this actually real?

[Upvotes: 120] [Downvotes: 0]

– Whoa, I’m so nervous.

– But does this mob tower actually mean anything?

– It’s Head of the Gallery, so I believe it for now…

– Please let’s avoid a Great War at least.

The Rift began to spew out Waves.
