Chapter 228
William shamelessly said such things to Jinseong.
Without a hint of remorse or mention of throwing the beer bottle in a fit of delusion, he laid all the blame on Jinseong for not introducing himself quickly enough, as if the entire situation was entirely Jinseong’s fault.
His attitude seemed so natural that it looked like he had done this more than once before.
“Well, it’s fine. I know that the folks called shamans are usually slow, so I should be understanding.”
Moreover, even that wasn’t really directed at Jinseong. It was just him making assumptions and decisions on his own; it was more of a monologue than a conversation.
He had already decided in his mind that Jinseong was in the wrong, arbitrarily forgave him, and was merely indulging in his own merciful self for forgiving the man who would soon be his son-in-law.
Feeling good, William sat down with a lighter step and arrogantly gestured for Agnes to come to his side.
Seeing this, Agnes managed to smile while controlling her expression and sat far away from William. She pulled Ella’s arm to sit beside her, with Jinseong taking the spot next to Ella.
Watching this, William frowned as if displeased, then, for some reason, he suddenly burst into a chuckle and summoned one of the shop’s employees with a wave of his hand.
He then spoke as if commanding a servant.
“Hey, set up a table and a chair over there.”
He pointed to where Jinseong’s group was gathered. Naturally, the employee thought, “Why is this crazy guy giving me such orders?” but having just witnessed the magnificent personality of William, who had just thrown a beer bottle at the man he referred to as ‘son-in-law’, he moved without a word.
Using his strength, he moved the table and brought a spare folding chair in front of it.
“Ha! Look at this dumbass, huh?”
*Whack!*
Seeing that, William burst into laughter and slapped the back of the employee’s head. He then shouted at the employee, who was now staring at him in confusion.
“You idiot! Do you think I should be sitting on something as horrible as that?! If I asked for a chair, it should be something like a sofa, not something a beggar would sit on!”
The employee momentarily felt anger at William’s outrage, but then regained his superhuman patience, managing his expression as he bowed his head deeply.
“I’m sorry, sir.”
In an attempt not to get grounded by the most dreadful customer he had ever encountered, the employee bowed and moved the sofa instead, ensuring not to appear like he was fleeing from them as he slowly moved out of their sight and back behind the shop.
However, as he got out like that, an intimidating foreign man seized him.
“What’s going on?”
The employee, caught off guard by the large, muscular man behind the shop, was bewildered. But the man gestured as if to say not to worry and pulled out an envelope from his pocket, handing it to the employee.
“This is as an apology. Please accept it without burden.”
The man handed over a rather hefty envelope, then, as if his business was done, walked back through the door.
As the man disappeared, the employee stared blankly before opening the envelope and was baffled by the cash inside.
“What the hell….”
There were bills that easily looked like they could be worth hundreds of thousands of won. The employee let out a sigh of disbelief.
“To deal with the most shocking customer with a pile of cash….”
He tucked the ‘apology’ the man had given him into his pocket. It wasn’t that he coveted the money. He had some money of his own. The reason he accepted the money without a care was that it came from the other side bowing their pride, not him. And… he felt that if he didn’t receive some form of compensation for the mental stress incurred by dealing with that crazy customer, he wouldn’t be able to sleep at night out of frustration.
Moreover…
The fact that he was the only one left to guard the shop was another reason.
He couldn’t just leave the shop and run, so he’d have to go back inside, meaning he would have to face that dreadful customer again. Thinking about that… it certainly didn’t seem feasible to do so without a special allowance.
The employee sighed deeply, reluctant to return inside, before trudging back in as if glued in place.
But as he entered, there were men in black suits blocking his way.
The men in suits of various ethnicities naturally halted the employee and said:
“The young master has rented this shop for 12 hours. The money will be handed to the owner, and during this time, this shop will be closed, and we will take care of anyone inside. So you are free to go.”
Upon hearing this, the employee was taken aback and pulled out his smartphone to contact the designer.
And…
[ Yeah, that’s right. Why would someone pay an insane amount for just renting a shop for 12 hours? They’re basically just using a spot with some exhibition pieces and fabrics, so why wouldn’t they? ]
The designer confidently responded to the employee’s query. They were paying a lot, so it was agreed.
[ Moreover, it’s perfect timing. Today, Ara is pulling out high-quality threads. I was worried she couldn’t start immediately because of the customers, but this works out well. So don’t worry too much and just go back and take a rest. ]
The employee made an incredulous face at the designer’s words. No matter how much money someone brought to have clothes made, they would never cater to someone not of a certain standing, but the designer’s tone was completely different now.
Did the employee’s curiosity show?
The designer whispered in a very small voice.
[ … Hey, if they rent the shop for 12 hours, I’ll connect you with that model I wanted. What can you do? ]
Finally, the employee understood.
He nodded and ended the call, leaving a request for them to use the space as neatly as possible before stepping outside.
Thus, the shop became William’s space for 12 hours and a place for them to converse.
“Hey, close the door and draw the curtains too.”
Once William purchased the shop, he unhesitatingly ordered the men in suits.
*Click.*
As soon as the men heard William’s command, they sprang into action, shutting the door and windows, and it seemed they set up machinery to prevent eavesdropping. They closed the curtains of all the windows and brightened the lighting.
In this way, all areas except for the display window and main entrance were covered by curtains.
However, William didn’t seem satisfied with just that and pointed to the glass front door.
“Hey, cover that too.”
“What color should we use to cover it?”
“Hmm, wait a second….”
He contemplatively regarded the bodyguard’s question and looked at Agnes.
Agnes was wearing a beige coat.
“Beige.”
“Understood.”
As soon as the bodyguard received an answer, he went over to where the rolls of fabric were stacked and picked up a roll of beige fabric. He dragged the beige fabric toward the door and snatched a few pens stuck in the cash register.
Then, using one of the pens as a tack, he pinned the fabric to the ceiling.
And just like that, a splendid curtain was completed, effectively hiding the front door.
The once open garment shop transformed into a stifling sealed room!
“Hmm, nice. I really like it.”
William smiled with satisfaction as he observed the transformation.
“Yeah, for a conversation, this kind of atmosphere is a must.”
He complimented his own taste, sinking into the sofa and resting his chin on his hands on the armrest while looking at Agnes.
“What do you think, Nes? Do you like it?”
“Does it look that way?”
“Don’t like it? Too bad, it’s my taste.”
Agnes’s expression showed her discontent, but William responded with an indifferent demeanor.
No, he even chastised Agnes a bit.
“Once you become a couple, there will be many things to adjust to. Just remember that I don’t really enjoy accommodating others. My preferences are solid. Got it?”
Saying this, when Agnes made a displeased face, he smirked with a sly grin and added playfully.
“Well, if it’s you, Nes, I might consider accommodating you a little. You’re not just any girl, you’re Nes.”
“William R. Artua.”
Agnes seemed to have reached her limit and called out his full name.
Then she warned him.
“I don’t know how many times I’ve said this, but let me say it again. First, don’t call me by that affectionate name your way. Second, don’t talk to me or approach me. Third, don’t approach Ella either.”
“Playing hard to get, huh?”
However, William completely ignored Agnes’s angry warning. He brushed it off as just her being difficult and merely chuckled at her.
Agnes found it increasingly hard to hide her irritation, her tone clearly showing her anger.
“So, was this all just to try to woo me? You said you had something to discuss, didn’t you?”
“Oh, that’s right. I did have something.”
William’s expression lit up at Agnes’s words, then he grinned slyly and threw out a cheesy line.
“Of course, that doesn’t mean our cute Nes only meets when there’s a purpose.”
“… Could you please shut up?”
Ultimately, Agnes couldn’t help but let a curse slip.
But William just looked at her, finding her irritation endearing, and when she really seemed about to explode, he tossed a well-bound book at her.
A large book made of quality paper.
It looked much like a fairy tale book a small child would read.
“I’ve seen the future.”
“Really?”
Agnes glanced at the bland cover of the fairy tale book and replied.
“I hope that future involves you dying.”
In response, William exaggerated his gestures, saying:
“Oh, surprisingly, it’s the opposite. I came to live!”
