Volume 2 Chapter 15: “Second Miscalculation and Betrayal of Expectations”
The second first day at Roswaal’s Mansion opened with a fiery speech aimed at the rising sun.
I just had to witness the sun rising and setting for five short days.
During that time, my approach was, of course, “to follow the previous flow as closely as possible,” a principle laid out by Subaru.
True to his resolve in the garden, Subaru intended to fulfill his promise with Emilia from before the loop. To do that, he must once again cross that moonlit night and exchange vows with her.
And as it goes with looping stories, there exists a somewhat established conclusion.
That is, “if you take the same path, the story will end up in the same place.”
Since I was following the same flow as last time, it was only natural that the narrative would match. The thoughts and actions of the characters involved would overlap, leading to the same inevitable conclusion.
What was important for Subaru was to change that conclusion into a future more to his liking and to recover all the memories that were supposed to arise in the process.
In other words, snatching the best parts using loops was the ultimate goal.
By employing quick saves and loads, I aimed to steer the end towards a conclusion that best suited me.
Such was Subaru’s noble yet slightly wicked scheme.
“—I don’t know why, but this is a mess.”
From the very first day, I found my expectations knocked off course as I sank into the bath, letting out a weary sigh.

Floating on my back in the steamy bath, I reflected on the first day.
The morning of determination, which began a series of overwhelming failures.
Right after the daily routine with Emilia, Subaru had silently resolved to follow the previous flow.
Honestly, I couldn’t believe that I was able to trace every aspect precisely, but the general gist of the conversation should have aligned with last time.
Pack’s fluffing rights, Emilia’s nickname, my first meeting with Roswaal, and the explanation of the badge’s worth and Emilia’s position at the breakfast table.
Whether or not I created natural reactions in between was tricky to gauge, but I wanted to praise myself for doing pretty well. I was in the mood for a “very well done” stamp of approval.
“Evaluating scores would probably lead to something horrendous, so let’s skip that.”
Setting aside my harsh remarks about my own acting, the situation was nevertheless progressing in a way that was somewhat in Subaru’s control.
From there, the topic naturally shifted to Subaru’s “reward,” and as I did last time, my status shifted from “a recluse of another world” to “an apprentice servant of the perverted nobility.”
After that, Ram took on the role of supervisor and began the first day’s labor service starting with the mansion’s tour—this is where things got absurd.
“Why is it that everything is completely different from last time? My mood was prepped to maximize my momentum like I was ready for an exam, so what gives?”
With just my face above the water, Subaru murmured while resting my chin on the edge of the tub.
While my whole body was soaked, I felt my joints ached wearily with every recollection.
The heart-wrenching factor that shattered Subaru’s resolve to replicate the previous flow was the task assigned to him by Ram.
Cleaning the kitchen, mere room cleaning, or perhaps laundry and tidying up—these tasks had been the same in last time’s loop, but—
“The difficulty of these tasks has definitely shot through the roof…”
In pure terms, the volume and quality of the work I had to do had increased. If I put it bluntly, it felt like pointless labor thrown onto me.
“Last time was exhausting enough, but this time it’s just brutal… Damn, I thought if it was the same stuff, I could have a little bit of an easy time.”
Complaining about the unexpected hardship, Subaru internally judged the current situation as rather bad.
This was the outcome of my effort to carry on the previous content. If it changed this much from the very first day, there would be no way to reconcile it with the upcoming days in the same manner as before.
Thinking little differences could stack into a bigger problem down the line became frighteningly likely.
“In particular, I have no clue why I returned this time…”
This time, I just slept normally and woke up back here.
Unlike last time’s clear-cut return after I died, the unpredictability of this return was physically exhausting to contemplate.
“If it’s this different, does that mean I can’t rely on my memories?”
Such weak thoughts slipped out, and to regain my composure, I submerged myself deeper into the water.
The king’s capital, the day I met Emilia—remembering that dense day brought fleeting feelings.
While Subaru took different paths each time, the overall events were common across each occurrence.
As long as I didn’t miss a big event, I wouldn’t know. The memorable event this time, excluding the first day, was just the promise made with Emilia.
As long as I could reach that point, the circumstances should follow the same flow as before. From then, I just had to find out what caused the interruption in that flow.
Caught up in thoughts that couldn’t be settled amidst the bustling chores, they somehow relaxed and focused into a clear policy within the bath.
Naturally, I noticed I felt relieved in the warm water, surfacing just as I reached my breathing limit. I split the surface and drew in a refreshing breath of the cool air.
“—Hey, mind if I join you?”
Just then, a naked noble appeared before me, and I regretted my breath.
A cool breeze blew from his side, moving between his legs and finally reaching me. Naturally, being in the bath, he stood completely naked. Was this merely a noble’s way of being, or the expected attitude for being in a bath?
In a position where I could almost reach him, the naked noble gazed down at me along with his swaying holy sword. A sensation of being looked down at by a manhood was severely humiliating.
“It’s a private bath, so I’ll have to decline.”
“This facility belongs to my mansion. It’s my property, you see? I’ll do as I please.”
“If that’s the case, then just get in without asking. It’s just a bath.”
“Oh my, a bit harsh, aren’t we? Plus, you’re not seeing the bigger picture. True, this bath may belong to me, but—”
Roswaal knelt and leaned toward me, gazing up with an amused expression from the tub. Then he gently pinched my chin with his hand.
“Given your position as a servant, wouldn’t it be said that you’re also my property?”
*Chomp!*
“Wow, no hesitation at all!”
I bit his obnoxious fingers with some seriousness, making him yelp as I swam away from Roswaal.
The tub was about half the size of a 25-meter pool. The unnecessarily huge space screamed noble extravagance and lacked any sense, but while I relaxed alone, I felt an unwarranted sense of dominance.
As such, the bathing time after work had been Subaru’s enjoyment through the previous encounters.
“Again, this unexpected turn of events.”
Sighing, I executed a backflip in the tub, letting my back float just below the surface while curling up into a fetal position—an extraordinary technique I dubbed “warm-water coconut.”
Pretending to be an inanimate object, I let the waves take me as I gazed into the hot water and thought.
In the four days last time, I hadn’t bathed with Roswaal even once.
Earlier, in the last loop, Roswaal had been overwhelmingly busy; I hardly had a chance to see him while he was on the estate.
While I regularly met with Ram and Rem, with Subaru, contact after the first day amounted to barely a handful outside of meal times.
Although I hadn’t changed the rhythm of soaking to alleviate fatigue that long, it turned out that the oddness had come from him.
“…Hey, is that interesting?”
“An imitation of the ‘Coconut Killer,’ a palm with deadly fruit known as the Southern fruit weapon. Despite its pastoral appearance, it comes hurtling down toward the neck of unsuspecting travelers.”
“You really do have a way with words… Oops, pardon my intrusion.”
Sliding next to Subaru floating on the water, Roswaal submerged himself and let out a long sigh. The pleasure of bathing is universal, a gift of unspoken communication.
Naturally, I tried to separate myself slightly from the gaunt figure next to me, stretching out my body.
“So, my lord, you’re taking a rather late bath, huh?”
“I’ve been swamped with work. Time slipped away while I was tidying up. But how delightful it is to get to talk with you like this. How was the first day?”
“I had a meaningful time. Want to hear pillow talk from the various muscles of my body? They’ll talk to you all night long.”
“That’s a tempting offer, but I have a prior engagement for the night. Let’s save it for another time.”
Seeing him easily bring up such topics made Subaru think nothing less than “damn,” since he could tell this nobleman had a questionable relationship with the twin maids.
Though Subaru had pledged fidelity to Emilia, and honestly had never looked at any other women, he didn’t possess the twisted urge to enjoy the bizarre sense of moral loss while the two beautiful maids were off with someone else.
All the same, he couldn’t voice any adult thoughts like “make sure you make those two happy!” so all he could feel was mere envy.
“By the way, are Ram and Rem doing well? They’ve been working in the mansion for a while, so they should have grasped how to interact with their juniors.”
Whether Roswaal sensed Subaru’s hidden tension or not remained unclear, as he casually dropped the names of the girls Subaru had just mentally conjured.
Feeling as if he was being led on, Subaru nodded in response, “Yeah, I haven’t interacted much with Rem, but I’m pretty chummy with Ram. Though honestly, Ram’s been a little too familiar, hasn’t she? It wasn’t just because I was in the position of a guest that made it that way.”
“Oh, well, the lacking bits should be filled in by Rem. They’re sisters, so they’ve got to help each other out. In that regard, those two are doing quite well.”
“So I hear Rem’s all support, and Ram’s just a lesser version of her sister.”
Such a blunt articulation about the superiority and inferiority of household skills solidified a clear understanding for both sisters. The elder sister couldn’t perfectly match up to the younger in every skill—by ordinary reasoning, that setup could be quite daunting.
“When asked, she’d confidently respond, ‘The elder sister is better because she’s older.’ That nerve is impressive.”
“If it comes to that, I’d say you have your own impressive nerve as well… But so she said that, huh? Surely…”
Roswaal gave a nuanced shake of the head while glancing sideways at Subaru. Gazing into his dual-colored eyes felt like they could pierce into my very soul, making Subaru fidget slightly.
“And you’ve been rather blunt and surprisingly considerate. That’s a good thing.”
“How curious to be praised for something that isn’t really that praiseworthy! I’ve got a nature to just take everything in stride, so keep the sarcasm in check, alright? Like school when the teacher yells, ‘Get out!’ I’m the one that genuinely leaves.”
Such a chaotic atmosphere transformed me into the lone man “Natsuki Subaru.” It was a trait of my nature to remain isolated inevitably.
Roswaal smirked at Subaru’s statement, muttering, “School, huh” while blinking one eye.
“That’s not exactly sarcastic either. Really, I believe it’s a good thing. That they’ve gotten far too self-contained on their own. Sometimes, a little prod from the outside can certainly cause some changes.”
“Is that so?”
“Indeed, it is.”
The two of them submerged in the bathtub until their necks were submerged, exchanging dull comments while becoming soft from the warmth.
After a moment, Subaru suddenly raised a brow as a thought struck him.
“Oh right, Ros, I wanted to ask something; do you mind answering?”
“I’m not so used to nicknames, but it pleases me nonetheless. So what’s your question? If it’s something I can answer with my broad and deep knowledge after due consideration, go ahead.”
“I’ve never seen anyone introduce themselves with such convoluted wording, ‘I’m a knowledgeable person,’ you know? …That aside, how does this bath actually work?”
Subaru knuckle-tapped the tub’s bottom, voicing the question that’d nagged him for a while.
The bathtub we soaked in was made out of stone. Its texture was smooth to the touch, with no real coarseness visible. The location of the bath was a corner of the mansion’s basement, and it served as a shared facility.
However, the water was swapped out for each bather, meaning that even if I were to consume the water after Emilia, it wouldn’t give me any additional satisfaction.
“I-I’m not saying I actually drank it or anything! I noticed before I could.”
“Your spirit of adventure is quite astonishing. Must be a youth thing… but back to my younger days, would that thought have come to me?”
With a distant look, Roswaal drifted in thought about his past. After some contemplative silence, he finally returned to the present.
“All right, the answer is simple. Beneath this bathtub’s bottom, we’ve laid fire magic ore. When it’s bath time, we work mana to heat the water. It’s practically the same phenomenon used in the kitchen, I’d assume?”
“Oh, so that’s how kettles work too. I’ve pondered how they managed without gas burners or induction cookers back on Earth, though.”
Back behind Ram and Rem, who efficiently handled all of that, Subaru suddenly became small while peeling vegetables like a type of carrot. However, as long as he didn’t understand the “working mana” phenomenon, he couldn’t get involved regarding cooking or baths.
“Isn’t it something only a wizard can help with mana and all?”
“Oh, not at all! Everyone has a gate within them. Even plants and animals are no exception. Otherwise, civilization using magic ores wouldn’t have developed this much, you know.”
Subaru responded with silence toward the emergence of yet another unknown term. Roswaal smiled at his sullen, child-like demeanor.
“You have been quite alien to common sense. Regarding your dealings with spirits and what happened at breakfast, you’re astonishingly ignorant.”
“Hey, what!? Seriously—rumors? That’s super sneaky! I can’t.”
“I whined as much as I supported too, unexpectedly.”
“Wow, so you’re being tsundere! My apologies, senpai!”
It was a derailing exchange, much like the previous world had shown with Emilia. But still, he couldn’t shake the strange concern that things felt awfully too easy from day one.
After all, he hadn’t even evaluated her as a target for conquest.
As Subaru created a ruckus, Roswaal exhaled, “Hmm,” while stroking his jaw. He raised one finger, beaming.
“Alright then, let me give you a lecture. Allow me to teach you a bit about what it means to be a wizard in case you’re a bit… uninformed.”
“Hey, now! Don’t act like you can just say that! Do you know the man living next to my house, who was praised with four-character idioms like ‘The unrivaled when it comes to fighting. His way of life is sound and substantial. His knowledge and beauty are truly remarkable.'”
“Who’s Kawaski?”
“The senior who’s four years ahead. He’s set to marry soon but was blown off by his bride giving him the proverbial shaft! What a perfect tragedy!”
Though Roswaal didn’t quite arrive at the core of understanding that this wasn’t particularly high-quality, he subtly ignored the quip and continued the lecture.
“To put it simply, let’s start with the basics. I presume you know ‘gate,’ right?”
“Wait a minute! How can you assume I know that? From the perspective of someone who doesn’t know, that just sounds like nonsense…”
“You sure dropped a decently high pitch there. And you don’t know about gates… I must say, that’s shocking.”
“Am I using it correctly?” Roswaal asked for feedback on the usage of ‘serious.’ I replied with a thumbs-up and gave him a high five.
In gleeful mutual agreement, we kept going.
“So, what exactly is a gate? What does it do? Is it really magical? Who are you!? Wow, I’m getting pumped!”
“So, to put it simply, a gate is what connects your body’s inside and outside to allow mana to pass through. You take in mana through the gate; you release mana through the gate. It’s something essential for both use and accumulation.”
“Hmm, a faucet for MP, huh…”
Roswaal’s straightforward explanation made it click for me.
The term ‘gate’ had come up repeatedly, confirming it was as I’d roughly envisioned it, and that meant—
“Since everyone has a gate, that also means I do, right?”
“Well, that would align, assuming you’re human. Are you one?”
“I’ve never met anyone more human than I am! — Just a little, weak, normal human.”
“That’s quite an unfit line to utter here.”
At least it wasn’t a fitting thing to say between two naked men in a bath.
However, Subaru was far from caring about such trivial things as that new piece of information turned him giddy with excitement.
“Of course, the best was meeting Emilia, but this is also pretty awesome! Finally, I’ll be a wizard… even if it’s set thirteen years back!”
“Sure, skill does take time to develop… but thirteen years seems like a stretch, don’t you think?”
“Just a colorful expression! Furthermore, the kind of wizard I know has that role updated every birthday. The title’s within reach!”
While his prior ambitions seemed to set those expectations high before having to summon, now the scene presented me with a burning figure starlit by desire.
Now was the time to say it—yes, Subaru came to this world for that reason.
“Chome! Once I do that, I’m graduated—seeing the ending in sight!”
“How delightful to see you so enthusiastic over magic. Still, while having a gate is excellent, aptitude is a substantial issue. It’s just bragging, but gifts like mine are immensely rare.”
A triggering sound like a flag going up rang in Subaru’s ears.
Roswaal exuded confidence in his words, yet he was oblivious. The naked man floating in front of him wasn’t just any stranger but the ‘Summoned One’ from another world.
Thus far, strength was zero, knowledge was lacking, and luck dipped further into the negatives practically, yet new hope sprouted here.
—Magic.
Subaru found himself gripped by a strange certainty.
With that growing sense of anticipation, he swam closer to Roswaal.
“Hey hey, Ros! Let’s get into a chat about magic! The magical age is upon us, and the wave is rolling in—let’s ride this big wave!”
“Is that the case? Then allow me to continue. Magic consists of four main mana attributes. Do you know them?”
“I don’t know!”
“Oh, look at you, utterly ignorant, rebellious, and joyfully naïve—that’s great. I’ll explain. The four attributes are fire, water, wind, and earth. Do you get it?”
“Understood! Now, please continue!”
Sobered and charged from a chat without alcohol, the two of them were getting tipsy off sentimentality. Roswaal seemed in a good mood and nodded along as if cheered.
“The fire mana relates to heat energy. The water mana governs life and healing. Wind mana is concerned with external protection for living creatures. Ground mana deals with internal protection… Roughly categorized, those four exist, and most normal folk only have aptitude for one. Meanwhile, I—by the by—have the gift for all four attributes.”
“Wow, how obnoxiously showy! But we’d better speed it up! Laughing already aside, what tests could tell me what my attribute is?”
Sloshing water about drew Roswaal’s breezy response, “Well, of course, when you get to my level as a wizard, you can just gauge by touch. Naturally, you delve into the gate’s system to check, however.”
“Seriously!? Wow, this is a crazy high expectation! Look, feel, tell! Who’s that? Me!”
They had completely forgotten their state of undress, edging close while their excitement caused tails of thought to be whipped around in a frenzy. Watching him had Roswaal chuckling, and he placed a hand on Subaru’s forehead.
“Alright, I’m going to trouble you a bit. If you have an itch, let me know.”
“My butt itches! But I’ll scratch it myself! You spend that extra energy on my research! Whoa, my heart can barely hold still!”
At that moment, he wanted to forget all present troubles and immerse himself in the outright romance unfurling before his eyes.
Hope was there, dreams daubed the atmosphere, and a distinct sense that that mana could become the fangs granted to the summoned one in this other world.
With lips curled in a menacing smile, mixed with a defiant glare, Subaru beamed brightly for all to catch as he awaited the diagnosis.
“Alright, here we go!”
“Finally, I’m so ready for this! Will it call forth that fiery passion of mine to reflect fire? Or might it be that I have the cool and calm sensibilities of water? Alternatively, wouldn’t the breezy tranquility blow forth revealing my essentiality like a big brother of reliability—earthly traits popping out?”
“Um, ‘shadow,’ you got it.”
“ALL REJECTED!?”
His ears received diagnosis results that were almost too off-the-wall to believe, leading to his stunned exposure. In reality, Roswaal seemed genuinely troubled as he voiced the weighty judgment.
“Completely dumping off the ‘shadow’ label. The ties connecting you to the other four attributes are pretty weak. Though that’s a rare occurrence in itself.”
“Wait, shadow? What do you mean? Weren’t there just four categories?”
“I didn’t mention it, but besides those four attributes, there are also ‘light’ and ‘shadow’ attributes. Though hardly anyone falls into that category, so I left it out of the conversation…”
So it was said he had drawn that minute possibility.
Receiving that info made Subaru’s earlier thoughts settle somewhat. Shadow was a rather rare attribute—what it implied was—
“It must really be some epic trait, right? Like one in five thousand odds?! Magic that can’t be handled by any others in the system could surface from it!”
“Well, the typical magic known well for the shadow attribute can do things like obscure vision, mute sound, or slow movements, among others.”
“Debuff specialization?!”
Expectations of awe-inspiring magic capable of inflicting harm or ripping apart foes in the darkness of the world had taken over.
As Roswaal tentatively disclosed hindering and ability-reducing powers, he appeared genuinely concerned as if apologizing for the outcome.
So far, summoned into another world with no physical strength, knowledge, gifting stuff was all negated.
“And then the attribute is debuff specialization…”
“By the way, at a glance, you seem entirely devoid of magical talent. If I’m at ten, you’re capped around four, max.”
“Another thing I didn’t want to hear! Is there no god or Buddha out there?!”
Splashing water furiously around, despair rocked the tub. The sorrowful glance upon the floating Subaru had no real space for mere sorrow as he was somewhat overwhelmed.
Roswaal attempted to cheer Subaru, albeit awkwardly.
“Well, well, surprisingly it’s quite handy, shadow style. Whenever you don’t want to be seen, you can turn off the gaze from others, and when you don’t want some sound to leak out during any transactions, you can manage that too.”
“I see—so it’s all about secretly whispering along! This is fantastic, HAHA!”
Straightening up and clapping Ram’s shoulder.
“…Is that cool?”
Whether or not it was cool could be argued—and more so than judging from the context that it was nakedness peering amidst this larger discussion.
That wasn’t even the fitting way to evaluate in a case of two nude men in a bath.
However, Subaru wasn’t having much of a concern nor the apprehension of what he could simply dismiss.
“Hmm, that was some magic… even knowing it’s debuff specialized, it’s too precious to let go. Damn, what can I do?”
Pondering and troubled, Subaru was still climbing back into Roswaal’s nonchalant breeze.
“If you want to wield it, just learn it. Fortuitously, there’s an expert in ‘shadow’ right here.”
“Ah, I see! That’s a thing! At this rate, what manner I study, regardless of magical categories, don’t matter! As long as I acquire magic, it’s sufficient! To put it simply!”
Raising one hand up to the heavens, placing the other on my hip while breaking through the water to spring up.
As droplets sprayed all around from an entirely nude figure, Roswaal beamed as a keen stare fell upon me.
“By giving and taking magic lessons I can tag along with the target of my affections with no holds barred after school. Hand in hand, we’ll steer toward tomorrow and eventually the two of us will have a stork for company! Yes!”
Crafting an impromptu rap, I laid out the future plans cleanly.
With a decision made, action followed swiftly. The initial purpose of simply wanting to follow the previous content started to dissipate into the background. However, Roswaal followed closely,
“Although you seem to be mistaken about these kinds of things, an expert in ‘shadows’ is NOT Emilia, you know?”
“N-NO! Seriously!? What have you got against me, huh!? Are ‘you’ enjoying toying with my heart like that?! YOO!”
Veering off from the earlier excitement, I pointed back tersely.
“Then who? It’s you, right!? The court magician! The ultra-elite master who has ALL attributes embedded therein!? You’ve let me down!”
“Beatrice—”
“This is even worse than a letdown!!”
Splashing about wildly, an explosive shout detonated into the night.
※※ ※ ※ ※ ※ ※ ※ ※ ※ ※ ※ ※
“Agh, damn, I got a hot tub hangover! That Ros guy kept raising the stakes only to let them drop again. Is this the Hand of Buddha or what?”
Slipping into the provided garments, I grumbled as I left the changing room.
Having taken a moment to drift away from our earlier disillusionment, I stood up and walked out from the bath where I had left Roswaal behind.
Admittedly, I never valued lingering in water for too long. These days, I would stay long to secure a moment to think while shaking the tension off physically.
Yet today, having just come off recovery from injuries, the fact was that the blood supply hadn’t returned to its peak.
A slight gap in motivation laid dissonance between my physical and mental states, leaving an off-kilter feeling that was almost nauseating.
“Along with possible muscle aches. Damn it, just you wait, Ram. You thought you could get away with working me harder this time because I’m more vigorous, huh?”
“As you wish, I’ll remember it well.”
A sudden reply to my complaints made me jump as I turned, only to find Ram standing there, causing my clothes to splatter to the ground, much to be absorbed into my underwear scattering across the space between.
“Geez, really?”
She reached down, pinching the underthings thoroughly steeped in the fatigue of my long day, promptly tossing them into the bin right next to her.
“Right in front of me, a guy’s carrying a basket to do laundry, you know!?”
“My apologies. The moment I picked it up, I couldn’t stand the emotional revulsion. All I could think was to dump it as quickly as possible.”
“Nice throw form, at least!?”
I picked up the discarded underwear from the trash, stuffing it back into the basket before facing Ram again. Outside the changing area, she leaned nonchalantly against the wall, patiently waiting.
But what was her actual aim? I tilted my head in question. Then, as though she had read straight into my thoughts, she spoke.
“Sorry, but I’ve already had my bath, so even if you wait, I won’t get changed.”
“I hardly even a sense of that!? Is that a hugely disqualified thing for a maid to miss out on?!”
“Just joking. I’m here to assist Lord Roswaal in his changing. It’s a rule that either Ram or Rem accompanies him during bath time.”
“That seems a bit spoiling, don’t you think? I can change just fine on my own, you know.”
Still, it’s said that there are indeed people out there who have their staff put on socks without ever wearing them themselves.
Perhaps Lord Roswaal might be one of those people, Subaru thought with a metaphorical lightbulb going off.
“Though that only decreases the small amount of trust I had in Ros.”
“Please refrain from making disrespectful remarks about Lord Roswaal in front of me. From the second warning onwards, I’ll act accordingly.”
While it sounded sweet, it remained grounded in fact and should be taken to heart.
For one, she would teach kindly the first time, but if you dared to ask the same question a second time, the gaze she cast was one reserved for farm pigs.
Finishing that thought quickly, there remained the thought of withdrawing, so Subaru said, “Well, then, I’ll excuse myself, senpai,” and prepared to walk away.
But—
“Balus, is there something else you’re going to do?”
“Whatever could be done, I’m just hitting the hay. Tomorrow is a bit early to rise; it’s only common sense. Dammit, mornings are damn hard!”
Flowing between defiance and woe, Subaru’s sentiments hit Ram, who hesitated, responding quietly.
“Well then, I will head to your room later, so be ready and stay put.”
“—Huh?”
That marked the end of the conversation.
