Chapter 286

Of course, if Black people suddenly disappear, it could cause a lot of problems. But I think that kind of growing pain is necessary.

“Security will likely worsen in the future. Murders will occur in broad daylight, and the lack of law enforcement will be serious. And yet, suppressing those Black people and wiping them out like Japan did to China goes against our declaration of decolonization and the liberation of marginalized ethnic groups. At that time, it will actually be the whites wanting to leave, or is that what you want for South Africa now?”

This is something that will actually happen.

Perhaps because I’m famous for making prophecies, even the representative from the Republic of South Africa was startled.

“Can you really predict such things?”

“That’s just my speculation.”

“Your speculations have always been correct. Understood.”

Churchill shrugged, responding in a manner that indicated he was tired of it all.

Oh, come on. With that reaction, I feel hurt.

I mean, huh? I even gave up putting mint in Churchill’s nostrils aside from abolishing the yard pound!

And I’m not just saying we should simply grant independence.

“If you can’t have it, then you should let it go. As I said, seize all the various infrastructures left by the whites and use them for their benefit. Unlike how we helped the colonial countries, we should leave without sparing a single technician.”

“Weren’t we supposed to help for self-sufficiency?”

Self-sufficiency is limited to colonies.

Where do you see the Republic of South Africa as a colony?

It’s just that the Black people who make up the Republic of South Africa want independence.

To see that as colonialism is absurd.

Thus, all infrastructure left in the Black areas must be dismantled.

“I don’t know about other Africas, but this is South Africa. The Black people here wish to separate and gain independence. Leaving the colonial government’s infrastructure behind doesn’t apply here.”

No matter how much we grant independence now, we need to distinguish public from private.

Laws are laws. Decolonization is decolonization.

While we will fully support independence from colonies, this is not the case.

“Oh, that’s a pretty good method.”

“Of course, that’s a product of the whites. If they are upset, they can go back to where they were once a colony and rely on the infrastructures left by the colonial empire for self-sufficiency. Above all, if we let it slide little by little, eventually, the Black refugees may crowd into mainland Europe. This we cannot allow.”

It’s not really an issue of racism.

However, judging by the future of how Black refugees in Europe and those from the Middle East behave in our original history, it’s pretty clear.

Of course, the Black refugees here are not the same as those in the original history, but in my world, such things must not happen.

It’s a surprisingly simple issue.

The South African government can seize all infrastructure to establish a new nation strictly for whites.

The Black people would seek to separate and gain independence but would literally have to start from scratch.

Can they ask for support? While dividing land with the US, they decided to stay out of Africa, so that’s not a problem.

Only until the Republic of South Africa is the Maginot Line. Ethiopia will find it difficult to assist the Black people gaining independence in South Africa.

They have to modernize their own territory and help other African countries as well. In that case, assisting South Africa will be impossible.

In other colonies, if infrastructure remains, it might be manageable, but the Black people who gained independence in South Africa wouldn’t be able to salvage anything.

“Europe will soon unify its currency, and the ruble will be used worldwide. It will also work in the Republic of South Africa. Then they will become the foolish Black people who fled from a successful collective of states.”

“Should we also drive out mixed-race individuals or other minor Black populations remaining in South Africa?”

Well, that should be excused to some extent. Don’t you think?

At least, I think that level of leniency is acceptable.

“That much is worthy of special treatment without racism. And we need to increase the population, so why not accept immigrants from Asia? Especially since Eastern Japan has been significantly affected, there might be those willing to come if we provide support.”

Although the Kanto Republic, being a puppet state of the United States, is vigorously promoting itself as an oasis of liberal democracy in the Far East, on the surface, it’s still regarded as an independent nation.

“Hmm, that doesn’t sound bad.”

At least, if they were under South Africa, they would have received sufficient status as partner nations of the Rome Treaty Organization, but now that’s no longer possible.

Right. This will become a regretful aftermath for the newly independent Black people.

The Republic of South Africa had a ruckus over independence between the Black representatives and the South African government representatives.

“Separatist independence is only for those countries that desire it in a colonial context. This is something we should discuss within the Treaty Organization.”

Having already received an order from the Treaty Organization to “grant independence for the time being,” the South African government had no choice but to put on a show of engaging in conversation.

“We have lived under discrimination alongside the whites, almost like colonists ourselves. We now need to live independently.”

Meanwhile, as other colonies’ independence movements swelled with Black people pouring into South Africa, those who suffered discrimination within the existing Republic of South Africa, thrilled by the wave of decolonization, went ahead and applied for independence to the South African government.

And finally.

“The Rome Treaty has approved our independence! From now on, Black people in South Africa will no longer be discriminated against! We declare the Republic of South Africa!”

“Long live the new South Africa!”

The Rome Treaty finally granted independence, limited to the northern Transvaal region, and the South African government, in turn, mobilized the military to lead the relocation of the remaining Black and White people to the south.

Naturally, the South African military alone was insufficient, so the Treaty Army stepped in directly.

“Excuse me, who are you?”

“We are the army dispatched from the Rome Treaty. We have come to aid in the safe independence of Black people and relocate the White people of this region to the south.”

And the Treaty Army had other objectives too.

“Why are you taking apart our factories and facilities?! We need to use them.”

It was precisely the factories and various facilities located in lands that would become Black territories that they were dismantling.

The Black people were on fire with anxiety, but the Treaty Army merely scoffed.

“Leaving any infrastructure is strictly limited to colonies. You Black South Africans have been discriminated against by the Whites, but what we are allowing is independence only. This was never a colony, and there’s no reason to leave factories or facilities in a land that is no longer part of the Republic of South Africa.”

The very notion that you wanted to become independent was only possible due to the mercy of the Rome Treaty.

But to ask for infrastructure too is rather shameless.

With that pressure, the Black people couldn’t voice further complaints.

If they pushed back too much, the Rome Treaty would indeed have to intervene militarily.

“We are in charge of relocation, so you handle the establishment of your new government. However, do not cross the borders of the Republic of South Africa. Let me make this clear; this is the border agreed upon as nation to nation.”

A clear boundary.

The White nation is located below; do not cross this line and establish your desired independent Black South African nation.

Yes. That should have been it. Naturally, the Black people who had to establish a new governmental organization had a rough time from the beginning.

They initially formed a seemingly legitimate government called the Republic of South Africa.

However, one needs to have something to govern, don’t you think?

Even though there are intellectuals, having them establish a government doesn’t automatically create factories. It won’t increase public facilities either.

Most sensible Black technicians have moved down to the Republic of South Africa under the better policies implemented by the Rome Treaty, so there’s no reason for them to go to the Republic of South Africa.

They should just establish a real government and struggle on whatever land they have.

Naturally, the Republic of South Africa soon devolved into a lawless zone.

“Give us food!”

“Are you claiming this former White store all for yourselves?!”

“Hahaha! Pretty nice, huh?”

“Help me, please!”

Just like how the Shilla city-states rampaged at the end of Unified Silla.

Just like the Japanese pirates rampaged during Japan’s Warring States period.

The Black only republic has turned into a complete lawless zone, creating a world far too liberating for the Black people.

The leadership aimed to transform the republic, originally only inhabited by Black individuals, into a free zone aiming for inclusivity for anyone regardless of whether they be White or Black, with favorable conditions for technicians. However, a country with nothing to offer could grant no benefits.

The law and order in the increasingly atrocious free zone began to catch the eyes of the Republic of South Africa.

The newly established South Africa provided numerous benefits under various treaties and generated job opportunities for the Black people wishing to remain.

At the very least, they experienced a life far better than the lawless free zone.

And following that, immigrants from Asia, who had fled from everything in the Kanto Republic, filled South Africa. Only then did the Black people who had hoped for independence wail.

Meanwhile, in Vietnam.

General Lee Beom-seok of the Balhae Federation Vietnam Expedition Corps narrowed his eyes while scanning the map of Vietnam.

“Now that I’m here, rest assured, Commander. I will take out those Yankees and South Vietnamese scum with our Balhae Army.”

“Haha, thank you.”

Unlike the original history influenced by Nazi Germany, he wielded powerful Russian-made tank units and swiftly recaptured the Korean Peninsula.

Although the country was not split in combat, Lee Beom-seok could not help but feel that this pitiful Vietnam reminded him of his homeland, which was once ruled by the powerful Japan as a minor nation.

Thus, he was determined to liberate the South Vietnam, which was being used by the US.

“Excuse me, Commander. We are outnumbered. The American forces are not that weak. We should focus on solidifying the front line.”

“Even if the Balhae Army is strong enough to defeat the Huang Army, this is a reckless operation. For now, let’s concentrate on defense. Isn’t that what Ho Chi Minh desires?”

“Hey. You’re the Commander. Surely our heroic Prime Minister Mutaguchi Renya from your country would want to rescue Vietnam, which is moaning from being divided by the Americans. Wouldn’t he?”

Of course, the Southern Manchurian military’s headquarters opposed Lee Beom-seok’s operational plan, but he suppressed them under the pretext of authority.

The Asian Allied Forces, which should have concentrated on defense, then planned an offensive against South Vietnam.

The Black people have gained independence in the Republic of South Africa.

Well, I could say to regret the aftermath, but I also mention this to comfort South Africa and Churchill.

After all, we’ve granted freedom, so it’s all good, right?

Korea started with nothing after the war as well. They’ll manage somehow, right?

Now, what remains is to truly resolve the Vietnam issue and relax—

“Your Majesty is right. The Black people are rampaging.”

“What?”

What on earth does that mean?

No, it feels like it’s something I should not have heard. But whatever, if I don’t hear it now, it seems it’ll escalate later. Seeing Churchill chuckling slyly makes it very suspicious.

If he’s pleased, it probably means something has happened that needs to be subdued in the imperialist manner.

Should I just not listen? Let the Treaty Organization handle it?

Yeah, that seems better.

“The free zone has become a lawless land for Black people. Law enforcement has weakened, and those who once longed for independence have turned into bands of thieves.”

Oh my goodness. What nonsense is this.

Have the Black people turned into bands of thieves? This is too much. What on earth happened?

Yeah, I expected chaos, but didn’t think it would escalate this quickly.

Has it really not been that long since they achieved independence? It’s already ’47, and it hasn’t been long since the Asian Allied Forces were organized and dispatched to Vietnam to establish defensive lines.

Did they really collapse that quickly in such a short time?

“Why did they collapse so quickly?”

“It’s obvious. They declared independence without owning anything, so what do they have to run a government with?”

Yeah, I guess that could happen. That could be possible, but I did not expect it to reach such a dire situation.

Just how disastrous does it have to be for things to unravel so fast? Did they at least last a month?

“Hmm. Ugh. Ah-huh. I see.”

Now, I wasn’t hoping for it to reach that extent. Really. If it becomes like this, there’s no solution.

What we need to do now is…

“I guess we’ll have to dispatch the Treaty Army again.”

If this were someone else’s problem, I wouldn’t care, but the Black free zone was originally South African territory, right? Considering that, there’s no option.

We can’t just deploy the UN peacekeeping forces.

So the question is how far we’re going to deal with these guys. What’s clear is that there’s a strong willingness among everyone to dominate Africa.

“All right. So we’re deciding to deploy the Treaty Army?”

“Yes.”

“How far do you plan to take this?”

There shouldn’t be mass killings.

If that happens, it’ll be no different from when we were colonies.

The kind-hearted saint does not want to be treated that way.

“I believe we should declare them as the main culprits disrupting post-decolonization peace in Africa and at the very least, capture all those bandits.”

Yeah. Many of them will likely die in that process.

“Hmm. Yes. Restoring order should be sufficient. Ensuring law and order is important, but whether those Black people will be accepted back into the Republic of South Africa is a different matter. We will need to decide what to do regarding the regions in the Black free zone afterward.”

From my perspective, it might even be a method to simply leave them be.

What would it accomplish for the Republic of South Africa to reclaim a place that has already become a lawless zone?

After all, as long as they continue to hold that land and those Black people, the conflicts between Black and White will persist, won’t they?
